Hilariously, this appears just days after James Webb tried smearing George Allen with a pseudoscandal over stock options that Allen disclosed and never exercised, meaning that he never cleared a dime from the options. Now we have the Democratic caucus leader dodging disclosures and failing to disclose $800,000 in profits from a project on which he partnered with a lawyer suspected of connections to organized crime and a bribery scandal. And let's not forget Reid's connections to Jack Abramoff...

No wonder he simply hung up on a reporter when asked legitimate questions about this (with audio of, yes, a phone being hung up).

Ace mentioned the shady "money for nothing" land deal that AP is reporting landed Democratic Senator Harry Reid a cool million dollars in an earlier post today.

What Ace didn't mention though is what may prove to be the most interesting sentence in the article. Which is why I'm posting this entry on the same subject.

How did the AP find out about Reid's questionable transaction?

AP first learned of the transaction from a former Reid aide who expressed concern the deal hadn't been properly reported.

A former Reid aide is dishing to the AP in advance of the November election? Uh-oh. If I'm Harry Reid, I'm not a happy man right now.

It has an interesting, hyperexpressionistic look; but I wonder if that will grate after a while. I mean, everything looks very dramatic, very painterly, and very fake. It's a cross between Tim Burton's fractured fairy-tale production design and George Lucas' CGI-everything JarJarism.

Several posters are suspicious of this story. I am as well.

FACT: A "single engine plane" COULD NOT crash into an apartment building and merely knock out a few windows.

FACT: The fires burning in the building COULD NOT have been caused by the mere ignition of aircraft fuel. The plane in question was too small to carry enough feul to start such a large fire.

FACT: CIA/Mossad have been known to plant pyrotechnic devices in their past. Could they have planted firebombs in the precise apartment the plane hit? It seems likely.

FACT: It is possible to steer a plane by remote control -- especially a small one.

FACT: Someone notes that Yankees pitcher Cory Lidel's passport was "found" on the street near the crash -- just like Mohammad Atta's passport was found in the 9/11 "wreckage."

FACT: The Upper East Side is known to be largely Jewish. And yet no one was home when the plane struck the apartments. Why did the Jews choose to go to work that day? Were they warned by Mossad/PNAC/William Kristol that they should go to work as usual, rather than staying home?

FACT: The Yankees were just eliminated from AL playoffs, making Cory Lidel "conveniently" available to "pilot" a "plane."

FACT: It is well known the Yankees are the most lavishly-funded sports team in the world (largely through Jewish money), and can win the World Series whenever they really want to.

FACT: George Steinbrenner. Steinbrenner. Enough said.

FACT: It is also well known that all aircraft disasters are caused by brown people. Cory Lidel is not brown. He's not even off-white. Why the "rush to judgment" to pin this on Cory Lidel, a non-brown person in perfect standing, when there are literally millions of brown persons whose whereabouts cannot be ascertained for the period in question?

FACT: Initial "eyewitness" reports displayed great disagreement. Some insisted it was a "helicopter" that "crashed" into the building; others claimed a "small plane." Why was there so much dispute on such a readily-ascertained fact? There can be only one answer: Because it was actually a cruise missile fired by an offshore US submarine.

...and the most damning fact of all...

FACT: Absolutely no cameras -- NONE -- captured pictures or videos of this supposed "plane" hitting the apartment building. A small plane travels slow enough to be easily captured by even cheap video cameras. This strongly suggests the "aircraft" which hit the building was travelling too quickly to be captured on film, and again was therefore most likely a cruise missile fired by an offshore US submarine, almost certainly painted with Zionist slogans like "We love money!" and "Ben Gazzara Rocks!"

A Florida woman has been awarded $11.3 million in a defamation lawsuit against a Louisiana woman who posted messages on the Internet accusing her of being a "crook," a "con artist" and a "fraud."

Legal analysts say the Sept. 19 award by a jury in Broward County, Fla. — first reported Friday by the Daily Business Review — represents the largest such judgment over postings on an Internet blog or message board. Lyrissa Lidsky, a University of Florida law professor who specializes in free-speech issues, calls the award "astonishing."

Scheff says she wanted to make a point to those who unfairly criticize others on the Internet. "I'm sure (Bock) doesn't have $1 million, let alone $11 million, but the message is strong and clear," Scheff says. "People are using the Internet to destroy people they don't like, and you can't do that."

When the congressional page scandal broke last month, Democrats across the country saw a chance to lambaste Republican leadership - including Diane Farrell, who called on House Speaker Dennis Hastert to step down.

But when Sen. Edward M. Kennedy came to Connecticut last week to help her campaign, Rep. Christopher Shays hit back.

"I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day," said Shays, R-4th District, referring to the 1969 incident in which the Massachusetts Democrat drove a car that plunged into the water and a young campaign worker died.

"Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody," he added.

JUST ON FOX: ESPN Confirms. Cory Lidle owned, piloted plane; and is confirmed dead.

Cavuto notes he was definitely on the plane, but it's unconfirmed he was piloting the plane.

What the hell are small planes doing flying over Manhattan, anyway?

New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle was the pilot of a small airplane that crashed into a 50-story condominium in Manhattan, and Lidle is one of two confirmed dead.

...

Two NY stations are claiming the plane was registered to him. No comment from the Yankees. Some say Lidle was piloting the plane, but this is dismissed by others.

We'll soon know. Obviously, Cory Lidle can knock the story down immediately if he wasn't piloting the plane.
