If you can't make it out, the button says, "Ignore the poor".

Only two small problems.

The Catholic Church is one of the largest providers of services to the poor in the country and the target of the mailer isn't even a Catholic.

Bigoted and stupid is no way to go through life you jackasses.

Imagine the reaction if this bigotry had been directed at another religion like, and I'm just picking one out of mid-air....Islam. Snarky blog posts and lost votes would be the least of their problems.

I'm sure the likes of Keith Olbermann, Greg Sargent and Think Progress will be all over this. Or you know, they might just keep whining about Karl Rove.

(Democratic) Party officials and operatives spent the day burning up phone lines trying to determine what can be done following an embarrassing defeat Monday on the floor of the Assembly, where some Democrats refused to support a binding arbitration bill the Democratic leaders of both houses publicly touted.

The defeat was so bitter that some Democrats even talked about whether and how they could attempt to remove Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver from her post, according to three party leaders.

...Little was resolved, but some party officials acknowledged they know how much trouble theyÂ’re in and realize Democratic loyalists are disappointed with their performance in opposing Republican Gov. Chris Christie.

"We need a stronger unifying voice for Democratic principles and right now I donÂ’t see that," said Assembly Majority Leader Joe Cryan (D-Union). "WeÂ’ve got work to do."

The most recent blow to hit Democrats who run the Legislature came Monday afternoon when Oliver (D-Essex) was forced to table bill that would water down the hard cap on public-worker salaries increases proposed by Christie. Oliver and Senate President Stephen Sweeney last week announced their plan to reform the way public-sector unions have their wage hikes approved, but it ran into opposition led by Christie and Democrat Joe DiVincenzo, the Essex County executive.

Christie standing up for taxpayers against public workers and getting the Democrats to fight amongst themselves in the process? Nice. Very nice. The Democrats figure they can afford to lose voters but if they lose their paymasters in the public employee unions? Doom.

Another slice of Christie awesomeness? Despite pleas from everyone, it looks like he's sticking by his decision to can the tunnel project the state simply can't afford.

Care for a little more of the big man? The jacket is off and he's kicking some teacher union ass.

FTR-Next week, I'm writing him in for Governor...of New York. There's enough Christie to go around.

George W. Bush described the Democratic victory in 2006 (31 seats in the House, six in the Senate) as a "thumpin'." We're far beyond a thumpin', it appears.

Every serious and experienced observer believes Republicans will take the majority in the House by winning at least 37 seats, and in the Senate, that Republicans will take a minimum of six seats away from Democrats (they need 10 to take the majority there).

Restrained observers, like Charles Cook of the National Journal, expect something more like a batterin': "It would be a surprise if this wave doesn't match the 52-seat gain on Election Night in 1994, and it could be substantially more," he wrote yesterday. This is now a conservative estimate.

A 60-seat gain in the House would almost certainly be accompanied by a Republican takeover in the Senate; that would be a slaughterin'.

And I'm not sure one could come up with a word to describe a 70-seat victory: an evisceratin'?

So Democrats are hoping for a thumpin', probably now expecting a batterin', fearing a slaughterin' -- and can't bear to contemplate an evisceratin'. That's the real story of the final week of Election 2010.

The general news is bad for Dems, as usual.

Expressing deep dissatisfaction with President Obama’s policies and performance, independents have increasingly sided with conservatives in the belief that government grew too large, too fast under Obama—and that it can no longer be trusted. In the final pre-election Battleground Poll, Republicans hold a 14-point edge among independents and lead overall, 47 percent to 42 percent, in the generic ballot match up.

The swing among independents rivals the emergence of the spirited Tea Party movement as one of the most important changes in American politics over the past 20 months. Many other polls have confirmed this trend over that period, even though it has been vastly overshadowed by coverage of more provocative characters and themes on the right.

The poll found these independents are merging with Republican voters, who remain decidedly more enthusiastic about voting next Tuesday, to threaten both the House and Senate Democratic governing majorities. The Republican lead expands to 12 points in the generic ballot among those “extremely likely” to vote.

Obama goes on Rev. Al Sharpton's show (eye roll) to say his name isn't on the ballot, but his agenda is.

Notice he only says this for a black audience. Why? Because every Democratic candidate is running as hard as possible away from that idea. If the voters know that a vote for the Democrat is a vote for Obama's agenda -- as he says, and as is the case, of course-- they'll get an evisceratin'.

It is only the Democratic bullshit that these are "individual races" and that each Democrat is independent of Obama and Pelosi that keeps these close at all.

So Obama: Why don't you say this on tv to a general audience?

Take your 37 percent job approval and tell the whole country -- not just the blacks who have a racial pride in, and emotional attachment to, you -- that a vote for a Democrat is a vote for the Obama agenda.

Instapundit asks what this portends for his 2012 slogan, when his ass is actually on the line-- "Get Whitey, Vote Obama"?

If this were just one little slip, maybe I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. In fact, I did, as I passed on the "punish your enemies" line for Latinos.

But now he's telling Republicans -- whom the media never tire of telling us are mostly white -- they'll have to "sit on the back"?

What? The Post-Racial President seems to awfully comfortable with this sort of stuff.

Whoops! Drew corrects me; he said "sit in the back," not "sit in the back of the bus," which is how I heard it. He didn't say that, but I heard it that way.

But quite right, he didn't say "of the bus." Seems kind of implied, to me. That's what makes racial dog whistles fun; you get to say something without fully saying it.

And they sure treated her as gently as humanly possible while still doing something that can be called a "stomping" on a YouTube clip headline.

I'm not being paranoid (and neither are you) for wondering -- the left does keep attempting these false-flag operations. They announce them online, for crying out loud. "Hold racist signs at Tea Party events" and etc.

Both appear bona fide conservative-supporters, but not actual conservatives-- because real conservatives do not bully women.

Bad for our side, of course, that we have scumbags like this who call themselves men.

Little reminder for our more girlishly-emotional and yet oafishly thuggish members in bad standing:

1. You're not helping. Do us all a favor and assess your level of mental and emotionally stability accurately. If you find yourself wanting in this area, do us all a favor and stay out of public, and preferably off the internet too. You can do the most for the cause by keeping your toxic anger hidden.

2. If you ever find yourself in the company of men who are throwing a woman to the ground and then pushing her down with their feet and you do not yell "Unhand that woman!" in a strong voice but instead just silently, and perhaps approvingly, look on, you're doing it wrong, and you really ought to realistically re-examine how much honor you actually have. Toss out previous estimates of how honorable you believed you were; obviously you overshot the mark.

Two years ago David Brooks saw the future and its pant leg was neatly creased. Today, he sees a bunch of delusional fools.

Ah, how times change.

Lesson two. Always remember, many great geniuses were unappreciated in their lifetimes.

Democrats are lagging this year because the country appears incapable of appreciating the grandeur of their accomplishments. ThatÂ’s because, as several commentators have argued over the past few weeks, many Americans are nearsighted and ill-informed. Or, as President Obama himself noted last week, they get scared, and when Americans get scared they stop listening to facts and reason. They get all these crazy ideas in their heads, like not wanting to re-elect Blanche Lincoln.

The Democrats’ problem, as some senior officials have mentioned, is that they are so darn captivated by substance, it never occurs to them to look out for their own political self-interest. By they way, here’s a fun party game: Get a bottle of vodka and read Peter Baker’s article “The Education of President Obama” from The New York Times Magazine a few weeks ago. Take a shot every time a White House official is quoted blaming Republicans for the Democrats’ political plight. You’ll be unconscious by page three.

It's nice that Brooksie wants back on the team and all but I'm not quite ready to forget that some people who shall remain nameless (cough)him(cough), we're rather smitten with the whole project at the start while some of us were sounding the alarm.

Let us also not forget that Brooks isn't exactly on board with smaller government, just smarter (aka...things he likes) government.

Still, for all the taunting we do of Democrats here, damn few of them will ever see it. There's definitely some value in having Mr. Brooks slap them in the face with it right there in the pages of the dear Old Gray Lady.

Remember, this election isn't just about winning...it's about rubbing it in.
