He's been banging on this plan, saying, as recently as Sunday, it's a giveaway to the insurance companies.

Yeah, well that was then and this is now.

He's saying his vote might be the deciding one.

Relying on a health care socialist to derail ObamaCare was not going to be a winner for us.

Obviously every vote counts and loosing one is tough but this bit of theater may be a sign that Pelosi is short and needs to create some momentum. The question is how much cover will a leading progressive like Kucinich give to other liberal no switch to yes?

Now that we don't need Kucinich, we can stop pretending he's useful in the least, though in fairness, let's give the Devil his due. more...

If you are so inclined to participate, the correct answer to Census Question 9, which asks about your race, is to check "Some other race" and fill in "American." We don't need no steenkin' official racialism from our government. The shameful division of Americans into skin-colored interest groups only encourages racial discord. And the use of Census data to apportion votes by drawing congressional districts is, in the words of Justice Thomas, political apartheid.

I was reminded of this today because I'm filling out my census questionnaire. I may or may not be filling out every question...

Hmmm... Kucinich just blased O-Care in an editorial Sunday, stating his no was firm.

"President Barack Obama is in northern Ohio on Monday to campaign for his health care plan, and I will be here to welcome him. I have met with the president three times to discuss how we can work together to address the serious deficiencies in our health care system. Even at this late date, I am hopeful that the White House will be able to reinstate key reforms that passed the Education and Labor Committee on which I serve.

"Unfortunately, the president's plan, as it currently stands, leaves patients financially vulnerable to insurance companies. It requires all Americans to buy private health insurance policies, while failing to ensure those policies do what they are supposed to do -- protect people from financial catastrophe caused by injury or illness. ...

"Absent a strong public option or legal protection for states that wish to pursue single payer, the bill that the president is proposing is a step in the wrong direction. Even with the few modest improvements in the bill, the insurance companies will still have dozens of loopholes to deny care and continue to find ways to leave Americans with the unpayable bill."

Maybe not a gulp at all!

I also wonder -- if Kucinich was even wavering on this point, would Obama have called him out, or let him continue mulling it over? I say the latter.

The new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% would vote for their districtÂ’s Republican congressional candidate while 35% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent. Voter support for GOP congressional candidates increased slightly from last week, while support for Democrats fell two points.

Republicans started 2010 ahead by nine points, while support for Democrats fell to its lowest level over the same period. Towards the end of 2009, GOP candidates enjoyed a more modest lead over Democrats, with the gap between the two down to four points in early December. Since the beginning of the year, however, the Republican lead hasnÂ’t dipped below seven points.

Once again, if there's a third party Tea Party challenger on the ballot, the Democrats beat both:

But in a three-way generic ballot involving a Tea Party candidate, the Democratic candidate earns 34% support, while the Republican gets 27% of the vote with the Tea Party hopeful in third at 21%. Still, just 16% nationwide say they are part of the tea party movement.
