Rasmussen is raining on President Obama's parade again. The Waffler-in-Chief is trying to do a victory lap, but his nervous "it's only been a week" is looking pretty desperate now.

The two key findings, for me anyway, are healthcare and the economy. Healthcare because it shows how much the Democrats have blundered. How much do congressional Democrats hate Obama and Speaker Pelosi now?

Following the passage of the health care bill, 53% now say they trust Republicans on the issue of health care. Thirty-seven percent (37%) place their trust in Democrats. A month earlier, the two parties were essentially even on the health care issue.

These results are consistent with the finding that 54% of voters want the health care bill repealed.

The economy matters because as the economy goes, so do Obama's hopes for reelection:

On the economy, Republicans are trusted more by 49% while Democrats are preferred by 37%. ThatÂ’s a big improvement for the GOP following a five-point advantage last month. More voters who make under $20,000 annually trust Democrats on this issue, but voters who earn more than that favor Republicans.

Anyone think Obama will manage to turn his party away from anti-prosperity policies long enough to preserve his chances of reelection?

BTW, for reasons passing understanding, Dems still hold a slight, within-the-margin advantage on the issue of "Government Ethics." What's that?

Happy Saturday Morons. It's sunny, cool and clear here, shaping up to be an awesome weekend. Hope you are all enjoying it.

Had an opportunity to see these up close recently, a B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-24 Liberator, and a P-51 Mustang. I decided to shuck the suit jacket and climb through the 17.

Pretty cool.

Late last Sunday night I had to blow out of town quick due to a sudden death in the family and drove up to New York state and rolled in late last night. The total trip was somewhat over 3,000 miles and this is what I saw.

- A lot of billboards are still empty. This was true on I95 as well as some of the alternate routes (like rt17 and various back roads through WV and VA I wandered off onto to avoid rolling into the D.C. vortex at 5pm rush hour. I guess out of business businesses aren't buying advertising.

- Many still existing painted billboards are quite faded and haven't seen fresh paint in a long time.

- At some exits, once thriving large truck stops doors are shuttered. This is usually when there's another competing one at the same exit.

- Many rest stops are closed. It looks like some states have taken to closing rest stops to save money (all the FL rest stops on I95 were still open).

- Observed McLame bumper stickers outnumbered Ogabe by 3:2. In 3,000 miles and seeing many thousands of cars, I saw exactly 3 McLame stickers versus exactly 2 for Ogabe. Actually, political bumper stickers of any sort were uncommonly scarce. I take this an ominous sign of growing widespread discontent.

- The Birchers were out of the closet with a "Had Enough Change Yet?" billboard just outside York PA.

- One of my friends in NY has been an over the road trucker all his life. He hasn't been able to get a load or run for over a year. This is a guy who's qualified to haul anything from apples to any hazardous placarded load, including nuclear weapons. Times are tough in the trucking business. The "bigs" like J.B. Hunt have canceled major fleet upgrade orders they had planned. They're hunkered down, hard.

- There seems to be an uptick in bogus "work zones" in some states to enhance the number of miles over which enhanced speeding fines apply. Toss out a few orange barrels, setup a work zone sign, even when there ain't a lick of work going on for 20 miles, and let the troopers do the dirty work. Slick. Sneaky.

- There seemed to be an uncommonly large number of cars from NJ/PA/NY loaded with household goods headed south for this time of year that did NOT contain spring breakers. I wonder if all that global warming this past winter is prompting a bunch of people to flee the northern states for good?

This is absurd. Hannity referred to Tea Partiers as "Tim McVeigh wannabes." Now, he's doing what I always do (and six thousand other bloggers do): Parodizing the liberal view on Tea Partiers.

But the left is now claiming he really intended to praise the Tea Partiers as Tim McVeigh admirers.

He's speaking about basketball, in much the same way that Sigmund Freud was talking about bananas.

President Obama hit the basketball court and talked politics with CBS "Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith this morning.

Smith asked Mr. Obama, who is left-handed, if he can ever go to his right.

"I can go to my right, but I prefer my left," the president says.

A family nursed a malnourished deer back to health. Now it plays with the dog.

Notice the dog and the deer are playing -- acting out aggression routines in sport-form -- but they'e playing two different games. The deer's game is a little more dangerous, as he starts windmilling those hard hooves around.

The dog mostly just wants to play keep-away with the ball.
