DATA PLURAL ABOUT DAVID-WYNN: MILLER, WHO I JUST NOW-TIME WAS INFORMED WAS MY HERO [HUMAN-DESIGNATE: PARAGON]
— SPADES-OF: ACE

In watching HUMAN DESIGNATE: DAVID: CORN on PROGRAM DESGNATE: HARD: BALL, I learned that DAVID-WYNN: MILLER was "WELL-LIKED (SPECIFICATION) "IN CONSERVATIVE CIRCLES." I had not, previous to NOW-TIME, known he was my GEOMETRY-SAINT.

One OBJECTION (SUBHEADING: LACK OF PREDICATE) that occurred to ME: MYSELF was the total lack of any genuine evidence that HUMAN-DESIGNATE: JARED-LEE: LOUGHER had ever even heard of HUMAN-DESIGNATE: DAVID-WYNN: MILLER. HUMAN-DESIGNATE CHRIS:MATTHEWS stated it as if it were a fact, but actually thisARCHIVAL DATA only makes a GUESS (SUBCATEGORY: SPECULATION) that HUMAN-DESIGNATE JARED-LEE: LOUGHER had "likely" learned about secret code-languages from HUMAN-DESIGNATE DAVID-WYNN: MILLER.

In other words, the left is straining even harder than usual to lie. This ARCHIVED DATA, while interesting, is only by self-admission (REFERENT RECURSIVE) guess as to where HUMAN-DESIGNATE JARED-LEE: LOUGHER got his MIND-THOUGHTS. It does not state this as a FACT-DATUM, as HUMAN-DESIGNATE CHRIS:MATTHES breezily alleged.

But of course HUMAN-DESIGNATE DAVID:CORN was right about HUMAN-DESIGNATE DAVID-WYNN: MILLER being "well-liked in conservative circles."

That's why you should ACTIVE EYE-SCAN READ this ARCHIVED DATA to find out some of the things you SOUL-TRUE.

Whether this has anything to do with HUMAN-DESIGNATE: JARED-LEE: LOUGHER or not, I don't know. I have said, before, though not in my ROBOT TRUE-VOICE, that I MIND-STAKE the belief that schizophrenics tend to believe similar delusions -- not because they hear them from each other, but because, well, that's just the way their brains are all damaged. They see MIND-PATTERNS where there are none and hear FOOT-SONICS when alone. So I don't think that just because these two fine HUMAN-DESIGNATE(S) PLURAL fixated on syntax and grammar actually unites them at all.

Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.

But anyway, here is what HUMAN-DESIGNATE DAVID-WYNN: MILLER, the man who is "well-liked in conservative cirlces," believes.

The reason I use a full colon and a hyphen in my name, the first full colon, which is full colon David, it means for the David hyphen Wynn. ThatÂ’s my given name, and itÂ’s also a noun, because it uses a prepositional phrase. Â… Because I use prepositional phrases, through punctuation, which is classified as hieroglyphics, which makes me a life, l-i-f-e. Now, when you donÂ’t punctuate your name Â… David is an adjective, Wynn is an adjective, Miller is a pronoun. Two adjectives are a condition of modification, opinion, presumption, which modifies the pronoun, pro means no on noun. So therefore, IÂ’m not a fact. IÂ’m a fiction.

Well-liked on the right?

CHECKING...

CATEGORIZATION:="TRUE."

For his part, Miller, contacted by the Daily Beast, suspects that Loughner is a victim of an Air Force program on mind control – or at least by television crime shows. “Murder is taught every day, one hundred times a week on crime shows,” he says. “They’ve been brainwashing this child for twenty years. It’s a wonder everyone isn’t walking around insane.” It sounds like a rare moment of sanity for a man with a long list of beliefs that could make the Unabomber sound like a tenured professor.

The Anti-Defamation League calls Miller "one of the most unusual of the ‘common law gurus’ who travel the country holding seminars and offering legal advice. ''

Miller claimed Bill Clinton and the entire Supreme Court of the United States were students of his.

He’s also (unsuccessfully) assisted people convicted of abusing children, like a woman in Hawaii who broke the teeth out of her nieces’ and nephews’ mouths with a hammer (he claims to be the “plenipotentiary judge, ambassador and postmaster” of Hawaii).

He believes that the collapse of the World Trade Center on September 11 was part of a $12 trillion bank heist perpetrated by the U.S. Postal Service, which has run the world since 1873. Postal authorities sneaked into the towers, replaced all the chairs, tables and file cabinets with plastic furniture, and detonated it with a magnetic pulse started by plastic explosive.

The Post Office? SUBREFERENT: THE TRYSTERO.

He argues that maritime law is the only worldwide governing authority because the Earth is a vessel in a sea of space.

In 2012, Miller says the world as we know it will come to an end — and so will our grammar, giving us a chance to start fresh, “bring peace to this world,” end wars, crime and lying. The process will begin in Hawaii, he argues, using math, or something:

The last kingdom on Earth was Hawaii. The last monarch died on the 6th of December, 1872. And you subtract the 8, if you subtract 45 days under maritime law over the three-day grace period better known as the lemon law, you get the 22nd of October, 1872, was when Hawaii filed bankruptcy. If you add 70 years to that, you get the 7th December 7, 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Add 70 years to that, plus the 45 day laws of trust, the 3-day notice, and the 90 days that no law becomes legal, you have 4-6-2012.

POPULARITY ON THE RIGHT: +1,000,000,000!!!

CORRECTION: I just re-watched HARD: BALL with HUMAN DESIGNATE CHRIS: MATTHEWS. It was CHRIS: MATTHEWS who asserted that Lougher was a student of DAVID-WYNN: MILLER; David Corn said on this point we don't know if the one influenced the other, just that they were similar.

However, DAVID: CORN went on to allege that DAVID-WYNN:MILLER is "well-liked in conservative circles." Those were the exact words, now that I EAR-DRINK it again, not "popular on the right."

Well-liked in conservative circles. Oh yeah.

SINGULAR HUMAN [THIESSEN: MARC] ACTIVE-VERB WRITES [SIN=OPPOSITE/HYPOTENEUSE] ON [DEFINE FUNCTION=INSIGHT] HYPOCRISY

>>>REMARK/NONEXECUTABLE: Since David Corn has outed my secret admiration of HUMAN-DESIGNATE DAVID-WYNN: MILLER, I will drop the pretense of the VOID-WAR of having never MIND-SPACE heard of him, and begin emulating my DEFINE FUNCTION: LIBERATE (RECURSIVE) TRUTH BRAIN-HERO [SEE UPDATES TO POST, TIME: PRIOR; REFERENT: NOW-TIME].

BEGIN: EXCERPT FROM HUMAN DESIGNATE THIESSEN: MARC.

Left-wing bloggers and commentators blamed the attack on Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin because she had "targeted" Giffords for defeat during the 2010 elections. The New York Daily News published a column headlined "Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' blood is on Sarah Palin's hands after putting cross hair over district." And an hour after Giffords was shot, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas actually tweeted: "Mission accomplished, Sarah Palin." He conveniently failed to mention that his Daily Kos had put a "bull's eye" (their words) on Giffords in 2008 - including her on a list of centrist Democrats who should be "targeted" in Democratic primaries. Mission accomplished, Markos?

RECALL FUNCTION "SPOT;" DEFINE VALUE="ON."

Giffords's Arizona colleague, Rep. Raul Grijalva, said the Tea Party was responsible because "[When] you stoke these flames, and you go to public meetings and you scream at the elected officials, you threaten them - you make us expendable you make us part of the cannon fodder. . . . Something's going to happen." Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) echoed this sentiment, declaring, "America must not tolerate . . . inflammatory rhetoric that incites political violence." And Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik blamed the attack on the "vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous." Who, exactly, is Sheriff Dupnik accusing of hatred and bigotry? And why is it acceptable to condemn vitriol in politics while contributing to it in the same breath? This is what passes for restoring civility to our nation's discourse?

>>>REM: BOOYAH SUBCLASSIFICATION WAHOO.

What is really outrageous is how quickly so many jumped at the opportunity to politicize this tragic shooting - blaming the Tea Party and conservative political rhetoric without a shred of evidence to back those claims. Police are still investigating the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, but it is clear he is a deeply disturbed young man. He had recently been suspended by Tucson's Pima Community College until he obtained a doctor's certification that "in the opinion of a mental health professional, his presence at the College does not present a danger to himself or others." Students had warned that he might show up in class with a gun. Loughner was rejected by the U.S. Army when he tried to enlist. In a bizarre YouTube rant, he declared: "The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar." Government brainwashing through grammar control is not exactly a driving issue for the Tea Party. Conservatives are no more responsible for Loughner's attempted assassination of Giffords than liberals were for John Hinckley Jr.'s attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan.

DESIGNATE SOVEREIGN HUMAN="RONALD-WILSON: REGAN;" SUB. "RONALDUS MAGUS;" STATUS: BEYOND THE MEAT-VEIL.

On Sunday, the New York Times published a front-page story, "Bloodshed Puts New Focus on Vitriol in Politics." Nowhere did it mention the vitriol hurled at Tea Party activists, who are routinely derided to as "tea baggers" and racists, and now stand accused of incitement to murder. If you want an example of the lack of civility plaguing our political discourse, look no further than this weekend's shameful efforts to use this tragedy to demonize the Tea Party.

The craving is for banishing randomness and the inexplicable from human experience. Time was, the gods were useful. What is thunder? The gods are angry. Polytheism was explanatory. People postulated causations.

And still do. Hence: The Tucson shooter was (pick your verb) provoked, triggered, unhinged by today's (pick your noun) rhetoric, vitriol, extremism, "climate of hate."

Demystification of the world opened the way for real science, including the social sciences. And for a modern characteristic. And for charlatans.
...

Now we have explainers. They came into vogue with the murder of President Kennedy. They explained why the "real" culprit was not a self-described Marxist who had moved to Moscow, then returned to support Castro. No, the culprit was a "climate of hate" in conservative Dallas, the "paranoid style" of American (conservative) politics, or some other national sickness resulting from insufficient liberalism.

Last year, New York Times columnist Charles Blow explained that "the optics must be irritating" to conservatives: Barack Obama is black, Nancy Pelosi is female, Rep. Barney Frank is gay, Rep. Anthony Weiner (an unimportant Democrat, listed to serve Blow's purposes) is Jewish. "It's enough," Blow said, "to make a good old boy go crazy." The Times, which after the Tucson shooting said that "many on the right" are guilty of "demonizing" people and of exploiting "arguments of division," apparently was comfortable with Blow's insinuation that conservatives are misogynistic, homophobic, racist anti-Semites.

the Left’s sudden talk about incendiary political rhetoric in the wake of the Arizona shooting isn’t really about political rhetoric at all. It’s about the real-world failure of leftist policies everywhere—the bankrupting of nations and states by greedy unions and unfundable social programs, the destruction of inner cities by identity politics, and the appeasement of Muslim extremists in the face of worldwide jihad, not to mention the frequently fatal effects of delirious environmentalism. Europe is in debt and on fire. American citizens are in political revolt. Even the most left-wing president ever is making desperate overtures to his right.

But all that might be tolerable to leftists if they werenÂ’t starting to lose control of the one weapon in which they have the most faith: the narrative. The narrative is what leftists believe in instead of the truth. If they can blame George W. Bush for the economic crisis, if they can make Sarah Palin out to be an idiot, if they can call the Tea Party racist until you think it must be true, they might yet retain power in spite of the international disgrace of their ideas. And though they still mostly dominate the narrative on the three broadcast networks, most cable stations, most newspapers, and much of Hollywood, nonetheless Fox News, talk radio, the Internet, and the Wall Street Journal have begun to respond in ways they canÂ’t ignore.

ThatÂ’s the hateful rhetoric theyÂ’re talking about: conservatives interrupting the stream of leftist invective in order to dismantle their arguments with the facts. As for leftistsÂ’ reaction to the Arizona shooting, call it Narrative Hysteria: a frantic attempt to capitalize on calamity by casting their opponents, not merely as racist or sexist or Islamophobic this time, but as somehow responsible for an act of madness and evil. Shame on them.

Global Warming Part II: It Really Doesn't Matter What The Facts Are; The Important Thing Is That Our Theory Is Vindicated No Matter What The Facts Are
— Ace

Allah makes a good point that deserves underscoring. Former Senator Bob Kerrey just made the claim that he doesn't know what Loughner's politics are (they're sort of pro-Matrix), and further, that we shouldn't read much into his politics whatever they are.

That said, he's pretty sure it's the right's fault. No one can say what drove Loughner violently mad; but we're pretty confident it's anger caused by the Tea Party at ObamaCare.

Here''s Allah on that:

There’s not a shred of evidence I know of to support his theory and Kerrey himself seems to breeze past it as if it’s an afterthought, quickly qualifying it by noting that Loughner’s obviously disturbed and that his politics aren’t of much significance. But maybe that’s the point — that we’ve now reached the point with this story where the facts are so tangential and egregious smears so casual that this bubbled up to his lips almost instinctively. The past two days have been the media equivalent of a 50-car pile-up, the “conservatives did it!” narrative crashing headlong into the fact of this guy’s apolitical madness over and over again.

In the Reynolds piece I linked before, Insty quoted Justice Cardoza as saying that "negligence in the air will not do," which I presume referred to proving the case for a tort (a general harm) at law. What such a suit requires is:

1) A duty of care on the part of the alleged tortfeasor (tort-committer)

2) A breach of that duty (the negligence)

3) A proximate cause between that breach and the harm suffered, and

4) an actual harm.

This is why I think liberals are talking so vaguely here. They desperately want to prove their case -- the tort, I suppose, of incitement to murder -- and here they have what they assert is both a duty and a breach (thou shalt not call Obama a socialist, but apparently you can call Bush a murderer), and now they have a harm -- six dead.

So they have, in their minds, 1, 2, and 4, but alas not 3. Oh well! Close enough! Three out of four ain't bad, as the song says. (Sort of.) And this is why they talk like crazy about parts 1 and 2 (a "climate of hate") and 4 ("senseless violence") but get very, very quiet about that crucial number three -- an actual more-or-less direct chain of cause-and-effect between the negligence and the harm suffered.

"Negligence in the air will not do," Cardoza said -- the negligence must be traced, more or less directly, to the harm alleged. A general purported negligence or bad activity hanging in the air which doesn't actually have anything to do with the harm suffered will not, in fact, suffice to replace the requirement of negligence proximately causing the harm. The fact that one driver at a taxicab company is habitually drunk at work doesn't help you prove your case against that company if that driver actually wasn't at work that day and wasn't driving the car that hit you. You may have "negligence in the air," but that negligence had nothing to do with the harm you suffered.

If you don't have three, you have no case.

And here, liberals have no case. But they don't care. They know they have no connection between 1 and 2 and 4 but they don't care; they want to score their political points anyway. So they just keep yelling about their pet theory that Sarah Palin makes Conservative Robots kill people, and how horrible this crime was (which it was, of course), blipping right over that important part in the middle: What hath the former to do with the latter?

Nothing, it seems, nothing at all, but if they keep screaming enough about it, maybe people will decide that 1 and 2 and especially 4 have been proven so damn well we'll give the liberals a pass on 3.

The South Park Assassination Gnomes. The underpants gnomes famously had a three-part business plan:

1. Steal underpants

2. ???

3. Profit!

They could never quite explain how 1 should lead to 3.

Similarly the liberals at the moment want desperately to talk about how conservatives are violent moral degenerates. They cannot actually link that to the news of the day, the mass-shooting in Tucson. But they don't care. They'll continue talking about it with that big bullet point of "???" in the middle until everyone in the country is convinced that somehow Sarah Palin is responsible for this shooting, even if they don't really explain how she's responsible.

Mugshot of the Decade:

ht_loughner_mug_110110_main.jpg

Is that a Tea Party twinkle I espy in his eyes? Why yes, I think it is.

Watching Hardball, I've become infuriated; Matthews keeps saying "I want to be careful here" but then keeps asking, essentially, "Come on, don't you think he listens to Rush Limbaugh?"

David "Sucker of Cock" Corn mentions some crank called "David Wynn-Miller" (I think) who he claims is "popular among the right," whose crazy stuff about finding mathematical codes in government statement is said to have resonated with the idiot Loughner.

I have never heard of this person. Have you? I have to google just to find his the correct spelling of his name.

Now -- is he "popular among the right"?

Is this their Element 3? Some fucking guy no one ever heard of?

Here's Miller. Okay, I looked him up. Do you remember that nutter who declared himself a sovereign nation? That seems to be him.

Miller is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and he describes himself as a "Plenipotentiary-Judge", an ambassador, banker, postmaster,[7] King of Hawaii, and a genius.[8][9][10]

On April 6, 1988, Miller invented what he calls the Mathematical Interface for Language or Quantum-Math-Communications and Language[11] or Correct-Language.[12] According to Miller, his language is "for the stopping-claims of the Theft, Cheating, Fraud, Slavery and War."[11] Miller's language uses sentences that begin with prepositional phrases, using the word For, are at least thirteen words long, and have many more nouns than verbs. According to Miller, only nouns have legal authority. The language has an abundance of punctuation. Miller explains:

FOR THE FORMS OF OUR PUNCTUATIONS ARE WITH THE CLAIM OF THE USE: FULL-COLON=POSITION-LODIO-FACTS, HYPHEN=COMPOUND-FACTS =KNOWN, PERIOD=END-THOUGHT, COMMA-PAUSE, AND LOCATION-TILDES WITH THE MEANINGS AND USES OF THE COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE FULL-COLON OF THE POSITION-LODIAL-FACT-PHRASE WITH THE FACT/KNOWN-TERM OF THE POSITIONAL-LODIO-FACT-PHRASE AND WITH THE VOID OF THE NOM-DE-GUERRE = DEAD-PERSON.[11]

According to Miller's teaching, the addition of hyphens and colons to one's name turns one from an ordinary, taxable human into a non-taxable “prepositional phrase.” They are distinguished from the names listed at birth in all capital letters (as on a birth certificate), which he claims turns one into a taxable Person (Corporation). (i.e. DAVID WYNN MILLER as opposed to avid-Wynn: Miller.).”[13]

"Popular among the right." Right, so fucking popular I had to google him, and (assuming he's the "Sovereign nation" guy I think he is) I and the whole conservative blogosphere goofed on him when he declared himself sovereign territory.

Oh: And here's his webpage.

Dupnik's Report: Yeah, Loughner Did Make Death Threats
— Ace

I had left a question mark about this element of the charge. But as commenters, and Moe Lane, tell me, Dupnik himself confessed that Loughner had made death threats.

He didn't say against whom, but I have a pretty good guess that Gabrielle Giffords was one of the targets.

So... of course this is Sarah Palin's fault.

Did you know when Sarah Palin resigned the governorship she immediately assumed the position of Acting Sheriff of Pima County? It's true; it's right there in the Alaska Constitution. If you resign your post as governor you immediately become sheriff of an Arizona County.

Bad Sarah. Very bad Sarah.

Blogger's Report: Sherrif Dupnik Pre-Emptively Blaming Sarah Palin Because He Knows True Blame Lay In His Office?
— Ace

Hey, is this an unverified report, and am I slandering a man without waiting on evidence and confirmation?

I learned that from the media.

This is the claim. We'll see if it's true.

Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County SheriffÂ’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County...

Every victim of his threats previously must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if they had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully by the Glock 9mm Model 19 that he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more..,,

The Pima County SheriffÂ’s Department was aware of his violent nature and they failed to act appropriately. This tragedy leads right back to Sherriff Dupnik and all the spin in the world is not going to change that fact.

If the basic factual predicate there is true, the motivation and actions alleged make sense -- if you've dropped the ball, badly, and that's led to six murders and multiple grave injuries, damnit, you'd better start soliciting political allies and dreaming up faraway scapegoats.

Corrected: I got confused from the multiple retractions of how many had died and wrote "two." Six were killed, more gravely wounded, and more than that wounded.

Hillary Clinton: Loughner Is "An Extremist;" Blames Shootings on "Crazy Voices" That "Get On TV"
— Ace

Chicken status: Thoroughly fucked.

Allah collected up some particularly good quotes of the day on free speech, incitement, and desperate, blood-libeling Democrats.

Particularly hard-hitting and pointed is this WSJ essay from Glenn Reynolds. This is a serious read-the-whole-thing piece, as I really cannot quote all the cutting parts. It's all cutting.

American journalists know how to be exquisitely sensitive when they want to be. As the Washington Examiner's Byron York pointed out on Sunday, after Major Nidal Hasan shot up Fort Hood while shouting "Allahu Akhbar!" the press was full of cautions about not drawing premature conclusions about a connection to Islamist terrorism. "Where," asked Mr. York, "was that caution after the shootings in Arizona?"

Set aside as inconvenient, apparently. There was no waiting for the facts on Saturday. Likewise, last May New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and CBS anchor Katie Couric speculated, without any evidence, that the Times Square bomber might be a tea partier upset with the ObamaCare bill.

So as the usual talking heads begin their "have you no decency?" routine aimed at talk radio and Republican politicians, perhaps we should turn the question around. Where is the decency in blood libel?

...

To be clear, if you're using this event to criticize the "rhetoric" of Mrs. Palin or others with whom you disagree, then you're either: (a) asserting a connection between the "rhetoric" and the shooting, which based on evidence to date would be what we call a vicious lie; or (b) you're not, in which case you're just seizing on a tragedy to try to score unrelated political points, which is contemptible. Which is it?

I understand the desperation that Democrats must feel after taking a historic beating in the midterm elections and seeing the popularity of ObamaCare plummet while voters flee the party in droves. But those who purport to care about the health of our political community demonstrate precious little actual concern for America's political well-being when they seize on any pretext, however flimsy, to call their political opponents accomplices to murder.

Where is the decency in that?

Let us count this all up. The following people have been alleged, with hope in their black hearts, to be white conservative anti-government types:

1. The DC Sniper. FBI profiling said he was a white man (he wasn't; in fact he wasn't "a man") and the media ran with that. You couldn't miss the fact they desperately wanted him to be white (and Christian), which became particularly obvious when they refused to use his real, chosen, legal name -- John Allen Muhammad -- instead insisting on calling him by his original but no longer legal name, John Allen Williams.

2. The IRS Plane-Bomber. Joseph Stack was alleged to be an "anti-government extremist" (wink, wink) even though he quoted from the Communist Manifesto -- "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" -- and savaged capitalism in his suicide note. How the media played this is clever -- in news reports, they imply, but do not say, he was a Tea Party type ("anti-government extremist"); they don't say he's a Tea Partier so much as they drop the implication and leave that possibility open for the reader to infer. In opinion columns savaging the right for "hate speech," they cite Stack as an example of the consequences of such. They don't make their errors by direct statement, but they continue making the same error, deliberately, by unavoidable implication.

3. The Discovery Channel Shooter. In one bullet point out of 20 or so, he mentioned that he didn't like illegal immigrants filling the USA with additional dirty, carbon-dioxide creating people. The media seized on this and dubbed him an "anti-immigration extremist," overlooking the fact that the other 19 bullet points in his manifesto were all about environmental, not immigration, extremism, and in fact that he didn't just hate illegal immigrants' babies -- he hated human babies, period, and wished to see them all dead.

4. The Times Square Bomber, who, as Reynolds notes, was immediately dubbed a likely Tea Party by the "centrist" Michael Bloomberg.

5. The census worker hanged in the woods with the word "FED" not, in fact, written on him. He was killed, famously, by an anti-government Tea Party type. In fact, the census worker himself was the culprit -- he killed himself. But this story was barely reported after that, so in the minds of a large percentage of the public, he was in fact killed by a Tea Partier. (Note that the media isn't concerned with dispelling all myths -- they really want you to know that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii; but they don't really mind if you continue to believe the census worker was murdered by conservative conspirators.)

6. The Fort Hood shooter -- initial reports were pregnant with insinuation that this had been a poor white fellow, one of the guys John Kerry had said hadn't done well in school, so they went to Iraq, who'd gone off his nut. But more importantly, after the shooter's identity as an extremist Muslim had been outed, the media continued to speculate that it was the horror of war and not Islam which had animated him -- that is, that it was still the policies of the right which had driven him to kill. Chris Matthews infamously suggested that he had suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder by proxy -- that he had gone mad from the horrors of war not by experiencing them himself (he was always safely stateside) but from hearing about such horrors from his patients.

Or, given that he would soon be deployed overseas, that he was suffering from pre-traumatic stress disorder -- a new psychological condition, minted by Dr. Matthews, postulating that people can go nuts do to the fear that, in the near future, they will be exposed to the horrors of Bush's War Machine.

And now:

7. An atheist (Satanist?) leftist pot-smoking 9/11 truther who apparently became obsessed with Rep. Giffords when she did not sufficiently respond to his concerns about government mind-control by use of grammar-- also, of course, animated by "hate speech" on the right.

Gee, you'd almost start to think there was some kind of Narrative going on here, with the media dead-set on who the Black Hat would turn out to be in every crime and every horror. And even when it's disproven, conclusively, that their patsies of choice were not in fact behind the crime, they continue to insinuate that we were.

Enough. Enough.

Note: You may be wondering when I'm going to do my own apologia on this score. I am aware, such is owed. I'm writing it; but it's a bit long and involved, and I decided I can't finish it during the day when headlines are supposed to come up rat-a-tat-tat, so I've put it aside and will finish it later.

Housekeeping: rdbrewer's been on fire in the headlines and asked, hey, why am I not a coblogger? Well, good question. So welcome him aboard.

And Incidentally... I'd bet money that he isn't a Satanist. That sounds like day-after media sensationalism to me; I bet the "shrine" isn't a shrine. He just likes skulls or something.

I can relate.

Major Richard Winters Of Band Of Brothers Fame Passes Away

I know Maet covered this in the ONT last night but it's worth noting again.

In an interview shortly before the miniseries debuted, Winters said the war wasnÂ’t about individual heroics. The men were able to do what they did because they became closer than brothers when faced with overwhelming hardships.

They werenÂ’t out to save the world. They hated the blood, carnage, exhaustion and filth of war. But they were horrified at the thought of letting down their buddies.

On D-Day, June 6, 1944, Winters and his troops from Easy Company, 506th regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, parachuted behind enemy lines to take on a German artillery nest on Utah Beach. Winters made himself a promise then that if he lived through the war, all he wanted was peace and quiet.

His company fought through the Battle of the Bulge, the liberation of a death camp at Dachau and to HitlerÂ’s EagleÂ’s Nest at Berchtesgaden.

The war described in “Band of Brothers” is ugly, but the young men developed character under fire, Winters said. He was glad the miniseries showed war realistically, not either glorified or demonized as in so many movies.

He wanted people to understand that success in war depends not on heroics but on bonding, character, getting the job done and “hanging tough,” his lifelong motto. In combat, he wrote 50 years after the war, “your reward for a good job done is that you get the next tough mission.”

More here.

Throughout his late in life fame, Major Winters always remained humble and maintained that despite all the attention he received, he was not a hero.

With all due respect to the Major, I disagree, he was a hero.

While Major Winters has gone to his well deserved rest, we should remember their are millions of men and women in uniform carrying on his proud legacy of quiet and dedicated service. Thank God for them all.

Thanks to Slu for the video.
