So far his biggest negatives seem to be a) immigration mushyness b) lousy debater c) inelegant stumbling onto the national stage, which is also b) but that's the thing.

As a guy who's watched him for 12 years my political attitude has been "He would do mostly, say 95% of the time, what I'd want him to do, so I'm ok with this. I am just not concerned about "what would he do?" I was also concerned about the rest of the country goin "Texas again." No need to rehash that.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reconsidering his decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race — and he says he will let top Republican donors know within days about his plans, Newsmax has learned.

During the past few weeks, several leading Republican donors and fundraisers have been urging the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and to enter the GOP primary.

These Christie supporters note that significant GOP support has remained on the sidelines of the primary fight. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney.

Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires.

A source familiar with the meeting suggested that Christie seemed inclined to enter the race but said he needed more time.

Christie promised to make a final decision "within two weeks," the source said.

Good to see we have our priorities right. A puff of medicine that could save a human life? Nothing compared to the microscopic damage it could do to our very-fragile ecosystem.

Now, this isn't a ban on asthma inhalers per se. Just the current crop of them. Alternate forms of propulsion are available.

But consider: Drug makers use this form of propulsion for a reason. They didn't just randomly chose to deliver life-saving medicine in this fashion.

This form of delivery has been determined to be a combination of 1, most effective, and 2, cheapest.

So, people with asthma will now either have to pay more to remain... alive, or just suffer along with inhalers of lesser effectiveness.

Because you know, the 1% of the public puffing on a trivial amount of compressed gas three or five times a week is probably destroying the planet and everything.

Can he say something to help his cause?

One thing that bothers me: Some are saying Perry isn't a good debater. I don't really care about that. About not being good with the zingers, about being glib and smooth in a give-and-take.

Sure, I'd like someone who's good at that, but frankly, as a Republican, I've rather gotten accustomed to candidates who aren't good at the mechanics, the technical style-points, of debating.

What bothers me is that many of these questions are just an invitation to supply a canned, planned answer. Most of these questions are perfectly predictable, and a good answer can be written and rehearsed ahead of time.

It's not like the in-state tuition thing was some kind of out-of-the-blue, unexpected question.

Or... was it?

So, Hannity will, I trust, ask a perfectly predictable question. This really is not a gotcha. It's an opportunity to make the best possible case for oneself. It's a pitch you see coming a mile away.

I don't mind getting all twisted up on corkscrew pitches. But the ones you know are coming -- you have to make contact with the ball.

And... He does in fact sound far better on Hannity. He points out that anyone living in Texas for three years gets the in-state tuition, including people from Oklahoma.

That doesn't mean that in-state tuition for illegals is right; but it's false that they're getting "preferential treatment" over citizens of other states. Citizens of other states get the same in-state tuition rates, so long as they have the three-year residency requirement met.

None of this wins him the issue. He loses it. He always will lose it. But there are ways to barely lose an issue.

Here's The Bigger Issue... He finally does what he should have done early and often -- blame the federal government for not enforcing the border, and noting that governors like himself are left to make sense out of a bad situation.

Is that entirely true? It may not be entirely true but it's a good debate answer.

And by the way, Rick Santorum is a yipping, ill-informed demagogue.

The House passed a bill, cutting "green energy" boondoggles in order to pay for more disaster relief.

The Senate rejected it.

Given the current debt crisis and the current Solyndra scandal, is there any reason to back more green energy spending apart from purest ideology and wanting to seem "tough" for the base?

No, there is not.

And yet the media cheers this -- or, at least, does not accuse the Democrats of the refusal-to-compromise-for-the-good-of-America attitude that was so awful just two months ago.

Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren also hinted that if the rich don't pony up more money, bad things could happen.

That was the most outrageous part of Elizabeth Warren's beloved-by-the-left remarks.

"You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for... You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory."

Who would these marauding bands consist of? Seems to me they'd consist primarily of Elizabeth Warren's electoral coalition.

So this, to me, is a not-so-veiled threat: This is going to happen, either by an orderly process with professional government wealth redistribution agents, or a disorderly process-- Warren's "marauding bands."

Pay us this much "voluntarily" or you just might lose it all involuntarily.
