Actor Robert De Niro thrilled the crowd at a New York fundraiser headlined by first lady Michelle Obama when he listed the alternatives.

“Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?” De Niro asked a star-studded crowd gathered in the backroom of Locanda Verde, a restaurant he owns on Greenwich Street in TriBeCa.

Someone in the crowd shouted, “No!” as De Niro quickly added, “Too soon, right?”

Look, four years ago the stupid racist media (worried about the nation's racism, but constantly indulging in racism itself) kept asking "Is the nation ready for a black first lady?"

All DeNiro did was reverse that, absurdly, highlighting the change in the last four years.

Did he really think the nation isn't ready for a white first lady? Of course not. It's a joke.

I know the whole thing that we have to Make Them Live Up To Their Rule-Book but this one is just so so silly.

Eh, get behind it if you like. It probably cannot hurt to match their Fake Ginned-Up Outrage with some of our own Fake Ginned-Up Outrage. This is a retarded thing we're forced into, but the media insists on this retardation, and I guess we have to play by their retarded rules.

But we've got this Hanks dealio here. I don't want to step on that. Because that's sweet, sweet racism right there.

General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt, the head of President Obama's Jobs Board, plans to vote for Mitt Romney, Fox Business' Charles Gasparino reports (via Bloomberg).

If true, the news would represent a major embarrassment to the Obama administration, which had elevated Immelt in their pursuit of private sector employment growth.

First I thought this was 1994, and thought, "Oh, that was a different world then. Like 150 years ago. White celebrities (and white celebrities only) were allowed to wear blackface then."

As Hanks cavorts with a guy in blackface and "African savage" garb, he cracks some joke about Bill O'Reilly being present, and various jokes about the "black" guy not being able to get into the event.

Oh, little bonus: The "African savage" is, yes, slow-dancing with a gorilla puppet.

Niger Innes has called for the Obama campaign to remove Hanks' narration. I agree.

Guns weren't the only thing that walked with no tracking mechanism.

The prime suspect in the botched gun trafficking investigation known as "Fast and Furious" -- Manuel Acosta -- was taken into custody and might have been stopped from trafficking weapons to Mexico's killer drug cartel early on. But the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) let him go, according to new documents obtained by CBS News.

The Border Patrol ran a check and found Acosta was already "under investigation for firearms trafficking" in Fast and Furious, so they called in the lead ATF case agent Hope MacAllister. Under questioning, Acosta allegedly described his contacts with a Mexican cartel member nicknamed "Chendi," and admitted going to Chendi's house for a shipment of narcotics.

So Fast and Furious was a success right? Er, no.

Instead of pursuing charges, Agent MacAllister asked Acosta if he'd be willing to cooperate with federal agents. He agreed and was released. Apparently, the promised cooperation never materialized. The report notes that 17 days after Acosta was let loose, he still had "not initiated any contact with Special Agent MacAllister."

Before releasing Acosta, MacAllister wrote her contact information on a $10 bill at Acosta's request, gave it to him, then warned him "not to participate in any illegal activity unless under her direction."

Wait...a known drug and gun runner working for a notorious Mexican drug cartel lied to get out of jail. But, but HE GAVE HIS WORD!

In a just world this would the last nail in the ATF's organizational coffin. They are simply to dumb and dangerous to be allowed to continue on.

In Sheriff Joe's defense, he is an idiot.

“You can go back 500 years. You cannot find a more audacious plan. Never knowing for certain. We never had more than a 48 percent probability that he was there.”

This became a thing on Twitter last night as a number of other plans seem somewhat more audacious....the Normandy invasion, Sherman's march through Georgia, Washington crossing the Delaware, Washington's retreat from Brooklyn, Entebee, the Son Tay raid, hell using special forces guys on horses who used radios and GPS to overthrow the Taliban was pretty audacious.

None of this is to diminish the courage and skill that went into the bin Laden raid but the fact is special forces have been doing that sort of thing for over a decade. That relentless pace and effectiveness is the real story more than one particular raid.

Of course the most offensive part of Biden's formulation isn't his historical illiteracy, that's to be expected. What's truly offensive is that in his little mind, the "audacious" part is the plan and Obama's role in it. Yes, it was a call for which he deserves credit but the real heroes are the men who suited up and carried it out. They are the ones who will be immortalized in 500 years, not some empty suit watching them on TV. more...

Ace wrote about the WaPo piece yesterday revealing that it was President Obama, and not Speaker Boehner, who blew up the debt talks, contrary to the talking points of both the Democrats and some of Boehner's "allies." Jim Pethokoukis notes that the true story also busts the accusation that Boehner pushed an $800 billion tax hike.

A group of students "disguised as penguins" broke into and vandalized a Texas highschool as a senior prank. Kids these days.

Politico, in what looks to be a series, presents the "hard truths" of ObamaCare. The summary:

(1) Some people wonÂ’t get to keep the coverage they like;
(2) Costs arenÂ’t going to go down;
(3) ItÂ’s just a guess that the law is going to pay for itself;
(4) “The more they know, the more they’ll like it” isn’t happening.

Coincidentally, those four things are exactly what critics of the law said would happen.

John Carter is set to lose Disney about $200 million after insanely bad marketing and lukewarm reviews. After Disney's not-entirely-irrational fear of letting audiences know the film is set on Mars, they were left with the completely bland title "John Carter," which appeared to be about a man who runs around shirtless with CGI characters.

Markets in everything. Google started to charge websites for the use of Google Maps. Websites found new map services.

Companies and government agencies are now routinely asking job applicants for their Facebook usernames and passwords. Something to be aware of.

Time To Boycott HBO

I've never been a big supporter of boycotts - mostly because they tend to devolve into a laundry list of companies that you're supposed to shun over trivial 3-degrees-of-separation sins.

But in this case HBO is one company I'm willing to make an exception for. They've crossed enough lines and shown themselves to be such a partisan network of active anti-conservative hate that I'm willing to burn a few calories to see them suffer.

Here are just a few of their more recent insults...

They hushed up Alexandra Pelosi's video on welfare queens since it goes against The Narrative:

Alexandra Pelosi debuted a video she made for HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" last night. The video shows multiple welfare recipients in New York City proclaiming they were at the welfare office to get their "Obama bucks" and that they supported Obama because he "gives me stuff." Pelosi reported that people at the HBO headquarters in New York had said to her "you can't show this" even though just last week the ran a controversial video showing Mississippi voters saying inflammatory things against the president.

They produced and hyped the movie, "Game Change", and went so far as to make up details just so they could get in a few more kicks to Sarah Palin years after she last ran for office:

And then there's the fact that they continue to have this hateful, dwarf of a man as their premier 'comedian' while tut-tuting over something Rush said:

Okay we get it HBO - you hate conservatives and want to broadcast Democratic propaganda. That's your right - but then don't be surprised when you start reaping all the hate you've sown.

This is Pat Condell's latest video. I have to say, I really like this guy, and it concerns me that he looks like he might have been sick lately. There was an unusually long gap between this video and the last one in December. Prior to that, it seemed like there were at least a couple of videos per month.

Anyway, he's kicking butts again in his blunt, brazenly honest fashion--but with a bit less energy and glee this time. In this one he attacks "the Islamophobia industry" and their complaints about negative coverage in the British media.

Added: For those of you who don't know, Condell used to do stand up. He's an ardent atheist, a converted liberal, and he is a very strong voice for freedom of speech and limited government. And he has balls of granite. more...

Whether or not they're "unqualified" I don't know. The thing is, the American system of broadcast news maintains this fiction that you have to be "qualified" or a "reporter" to read things other people write for you on-air.

England doesn't seem to indulge in this fiction, calling its newsreaders just that, or "news presenters."

So are the hot young things qualified to read a cue card and move their arms around and blow air through their pretty pursed lips when they're telling you there'll be cold winds from the north?

Probably. If they can hit their mark and read and speak English, well, that's what the job is really about, isn't it?

If they're maintaining the fiction, I guess they wouldn't be qualified. But we seem to be in a transition period from the fiction to just being straight and saying "Here are some attractive people who failed at acting who will read the news to you now."

Which way is heavily-Hispanic LA going? Well, here's a weather girl for Univision, Jackie Guerrido.

I'll give her one, thing: She did successfully forecast a warm front. In my pants.
