Former Actress Ellen Barkin Retweets Someone Wishing Hurricane Would Drown All People Who Disagree With Her; Blames Twitchy For Misrepresentation
— Ace

Of course, Twitchy did not even report on this until after Former Actress Barkin blamed Twitchy for the claimed misunderstanding.

I don't know what Former Actress Ellen Barkin's problem is. One could speculate that this or that is causing Former Actress Ellen Barkin consternation; that Former Actress Ellen Barkin is generally angry for what she sees at unfairness in the world.

But we're not here to psychoanalyze Former Actress Ellen Barkin. It's always a cheap ploy to go searching for hidden motives among people you disagree with, and certainly the rule applies with equal vigor to Former Actress Ellen Barkin.

Something is bugging Former Actress Ellen Barkin, and filling the heart of Former Actress Ellen Barkin with bitterness; but it is not for us to say what Former Actress Ellen Barkin might be upset about. None of us knows Former Actress Ellen Barkin, and all of us are unqualified, in terms of both professional training and personal connection, to posit anything about any unresolved psychological baggage which Former Actress Ellen Barkin might be carrying.

Former Actress Ellen Barkin still appears on TV, sporadically, so if you're going to suggest this has something to do with career you're just all wet.

In related news, Former Movie Star Alec Baldwin is in talks to star in a movie with Former Actress Ellen Barkin; the film is tentatively titled The Next of Never, and has a budget of zero dollars. No director is attached to the project, and no writer, and no producer, and no studio.

In addition, no interest is attached to the project. A cameo from Sarah Jessica Parker is not hotly anticipated. It is not expected to premiere at Cannes and is already not generating Oscar buzz.

Jon Voight: Obama Has Taken Over the Media Like Chavez In Venezuela: Overstated, but with an underlying truth.

The media has been taken over by this administration,” Voight, an outspoken Hollywood conservative, said in an interview with TheDC. “It’s not less than what has happened in Venezuela with Hugo Chavez, really, because you can’t get the information through. I’m giving you this because I want to get the press my opinion. You can put it in any way you want to. But, it’s become pure propaganda and we should be appalled.”

Biden's Got a Detailed Plan For His 2016 Run For the Presidency
— Ace

That's adorable.

“Biden has a special call on a lot of people’s loyalties, starting with the president,” says the adviser. “That’s why you’ve got to take him seriously. And he’s serious.”

All of which makes it unsurprising that Biden considers himself, if not the 800-pound gorilla of the 2016 field, then certainly a big-boned primate. “Other than Hillary, he doesn’t consider any of the names lurking beneath the surface as competitors,” says the adviser. But even if we allow that Biden’s chances are far better in 2016 than they were in 2008, does that make them, you know, good?

“I’VE GOT A BETTER SHOT at being president than him,” groused one Obama fund-raiser when I first floated the idea.

But that fundraiser than suggested he'd support Biden. Biden's plan is to be more pro-Obama than Obama himself, and then count on Obama's loyalty and partisan Democrats' loyalty to Obama's chief water-carrier as a justification for his election.

Biden would be 74 on Inauguration Day in 2016. From what I've seen of Old Joe at 70, I can't wait for Joe at 74.

Longer Clip of Chris Matthews' Meltdown
— Ace

When even your liberal allies Mika and Brokaw are suggesting you get your shit under control, you might have a problem.

Drew had a clip earlier, but it was of a lower quality and shorter.

The man really is frothing. Romney does not thrill his legs.

Since this is a repeat, I'll link the Big News that Charlie Crist will speak at the DNC. And he's hoping to run for governor on the Democratic line in 2014.

Oh, and then this claim that Christie didn't want to be veep because he doubted the ticket could win. Which gets juiced up in the article into some kind of Lock of the Week vow that Romney can't win.

1, of course Christie doubted the ticket will win. Even I doubt that sometimes, and I am way out of front of the polls in predicting a preference cascade.

2, the article suggests, without stating so, that Christie turned down the offer. He was never offered the job. I never thought he would be. Romney really liked Ryan. Whatever Christie's private doubts, they didn't have much impact on Romney, who had independently decided that Ryan was a bold, unifying, likable figure. more...

Obama Memorializes Neil Armstrong, They Only Way He Knows How
— Ace

Neil Armstrong turns out to be important, primarily, due to his hand in making Obama wonder about the stars n' stuff.

Your guts, his glory.

Naomi Wolf Officially Makes Herself Parody-Proof With New Book, "Vagina: A New Biography"
— Ace

Yeah, you probably think that's a joke. Me making up a silly headline gag that parodies her new book.

'Tisn't.

It's all too real.

So where do we go now for jokes? When Howard Stern released his book Private Parts, he had a "Previous books by the author page" which claimed he'd previously written "PENIS: A biography." So what was a gag for Stern 20 years ago is now deadly serious business for Naomi Wolf today.

So what's it about? I have no idea. I think it's something along the lines of Naomi Wolf's v'ger being a microcosm of the world, or a metaphor for it, or something.

I don't know. I don't plan on reading anything further about Naomi Wolf's absurdly over-documented squack-shack.

The good thing is that this is so insipidly solipsistic that I think she's going to have ruined the Vagina book like Cutthroat Island destroyed the pirate film. Might be 15 years before someone gambles with Vaginas of the Caribbean.

My Vagina is Large; It Contains Multitudes. Who knew the female sex-organ was so chatty?

Scott Brown: Is He Just Lucky, Or Is He The Luckiest Politician Ever?
— andy

Way back in the winter of 2009/2010, we watched Democrat candidate Marsha Coakley bounce from one embarrassing gaffe to another on her way to being defeated by Scott Brown in the Massachusetts special election to fill Teddy Kennedy's the people's seat. She was too good to rub shoulders with the Red Sox fans down at Fenway, and thinking Curt Schilling Of The Bloody Sock was a fan of the New York Yankees didn't do much to endear her to the home team.

And who'll ever forget that time a member of her entourage shoved John McCormack to the ground?

Mistake-prone Team Fauxcahontas, apparently:

An aide to Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, appears to have knocked the video camera of a Republican tracker after an event this weekend in Martha's Vineyard.

...

One of Warren's aides, who looks to be, perhaps, her driver, pushes the camera twice, and the second time it falls to the ground. The tracker picks up the camera and continues filming, while the Warren staffer says, "Dude, get out of my face or I'm going to call the police."

"It's a public event," the Republican staffer says multiple times. Finally, as he's walking away, the Warren staffer says, "You're messing with the wrong people."

ABCNews/WaPo Poll Has D+9 Skew, & Romney Ahead
— Ace

47-46, which is MoE, of course, but that's with a D+9 skew. It's a poll of adults, though I think they restrict the head-to-head question to registered voters.

What it's not is a likely voter poll.

The Post-ABC survey highlights the dominance of the economy as an issue in the 2012 election. Seventy-two percent of voters say the president’s handling of the economy will be a “major factor” in their vote this November.

Fewer voters place great significance on other issues that have roiled the campaign, including newly minted GOP vice presidential candidateÂ’s plan to restructure Medicare, differences between the parties on womenÂ’s issues and RomneyÂ’s handling of his tax returns.

Among registered voters, Obama has a 47/50 approve/disapprove rating on job performance. Why the Wapo even bothers to report the numbers for All Adults, I don't know. Will All Adults be voting in this election?

Gabe mentioned this in the Headlines Post, but it's pretty sweet: Michigan is now deadlocked.

Michigan is proving once gain to be a battle ground state. In the most recent poll, Romney and Obama are tied at 47% with 3% voting for someone else and 3% undecided.

Just ten days ago, Obama led Romney by 5% (49%-44%). The race was tied in Mitchell Polls conducted in June (June 18, 2012) when Obama led 47%-46% and one month ago (July 24, 2012) when Romney led 45%-44%.

The Media... is meanwhile pushing the idea that the wheels have fallen off the Romney Bus and he's in desperate need of a "reboot."

Tied in polls (really ahead), and he's the one who has to remake himself. Not The Precious, of course.

Tropical Storm Isaac, noon EDT (tmi3rd)
— Open Blogger

This post has been promoted by Drew M. in light of the impending landfall of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Good morning from the AoSHQ weather desk. We'll be updating these with time stamps because information will be updated every three hours at the NHC and NWS. The next one is due at 2 EDT. The next AoSHQ advisory on this will happen as the High Command decides it's necessary.

Important stuff: Tropical Storm Isaac is anticipated to make landfall (the center of circulation will hit land) sometime on Tuesday, probably somewhere between the mouth of the Mississippi River and Morgan City, LA. Maximum sustained winds are currently 65 mph, and its movement is northwest at 13 mph.

More beneath the fold... more...

The Obligatory "Chris Matthews Thinks Everything Romney Says And Does Is Racist" Post
— DrewM

My favorite part is about 1:49 or so in Reince Priebus says something like, "Good for you, you came loaded up". I think the "loaded up" part was about Matthews prepared rant but I like to think he was talking about Chris being drunk off his ass first thing in the morning.

Keep in mind, the only people who think welfare=blacks are liberals. Funny how when Republicans are supposedly speaking in code only liberals can understand what they are saying.

BTW- Next time someone says "FNC and MSNBC are mirror images of each other" remember that Matthews and Rachel Maddow are anchoring MSNBC's convention coverage (so this won't be the dumbest thing he says today) while FNC has Brett Baier and Megyn Kelly.

Top Headline Comments 8-27-12
— Gabriel Malor

Happy Monday.

So, Romney's really going to make a run at Michigan. A likely voter poll has the state deadlocked -- and that was before Romney went to campaign there this weekend.

The anti-Obama documentary "2016: Obama's America" came in eighth overall this weekend, with the highest per-screen average in the top ten films.

Obama's newest Mediscare ad is a bunch of lies, of course, but click over for some excellent discussion of what Romney's Medicare plans really are.

AWESOME: the UK's Advertising Standards Authority officially certifies that Madonna is not appealing to young people.
