Libyan President Tells a Baffled, Befuddled, and In All Ways Bewildered Ann Curry That The YouTube Clip Had Nothing to Do With The Terrorist Attack
— Ace

You know, one thing I give the Libyans, and it's a pretty big thing: Since day one, they have been straight with us about this, while our own President, Secretary of State, and media have lied to us.

The whole clip is worth watching -- he says it's definitely a terrorist attack, given the fact that indirect-fire mortars (five of them) were used to attack the safe-house; that's not something that people "spontaneously" break out -- but Ann Curry's baffletude reaches a climax from 2:08 to 2:31.

Here's a question I don't know the answer to: It would be the easiest thing in the world for the Libyan President to just agree with whatever Obama says. So why isn't he?

Think about all the reasons the Libyans have to go along with Obama's lie. Money. Shifting blame away. Covering up their own terrorist problems. General diplomatic bullshit.

But they just won't. They have said from day one "This is terrorism and it's probably some Al Qaeda aligned group, or some Qaddaffi holdouts, or both."

Second Mention: Matt Damon's Net Movie Is Going To Be Awful
— Ace

Well, you knew that already, because most of his movies are awful.

But you might not have known the specifics of why his next movie would be awful. Apart from it containing more Matt Damon than a good film can reasonably be expected to bear.

This is special. From @benk84's morning headlines.

I broke the news that “Promised Land” was about fracking and now I can reveal that the script’s seen some very hasty rewriting because of real-world evidence that anti-fracking activists may be the true villains.

In courtroom after courtroom, it has been proved that anti-fracking activists have been guilty of fraud or misrepresentation.

I'm omitting the recitation of the evidence of fraud -- not because it's not important, but just because I can't quote the whole thing. Point is, the "evidence" offered by anti-frakking advocates has turned out to be fraudulent.

Worse yet, the fraud has become well known and embarrassing. So, rewrite:

These frauds and misrepresentations created huge problems for the Damon/Krasinski script[.]

So, according to sources close to the movie, they’ve come up with a solution — suggest that anti-fracking fraudsters are really secret agents employed by the fossil-fuel industry to discredit the environmental movement.

In the revised script, Damon exposes Krasinski as a fraud — only to realize that Krasinski’s character is working deep undercover for the oil industry to smear fracking opponents.

But note the revised script still has environmentalists as the good guys, and the oil companies as the bad guys. In the previous script, the oil guys were doing horrible things (frakking) and the good environmentalists were standing up them.

In the new script, the oil guys are doing horrible things -- creating a fraudulent "frakking" narrative for the environmentalists to seize upon and thereby discredit themselves -- and the environmentalists are the would-be victims of this nefarious subterfuge. Still the good guys.

As Gabe wrote about: The scripts in Hollywood and storylines in the press may change day-to-day, but the Designated Villains are always the same.

NFL Negotiations With Refs Now Moving Quickly; Striking NFL Refs Could Return Within One Week
— Ace

I did say so, didn't I? The Replacement Ref strategy could have worked if not for the Field Goal That Wasn't followed by the Gamewinning Touchdown That Definitely Wasn't.

The NFL seems to understand Clint Eastwood's point about having to let a guy go who isn't doing the job.

What About Your Lies? Part II
— DrewM

I'm not big on quoting the Washington Post's "fact checker" Glenn Kessler regardless of how his "rulings" come down because he's simply an opinion columnist masquerading as a "fact checker". Sometimes though, it's too delicious to pass up.

Here is a report on his Four Pinocchio ruling on Obama's claim that George Bush is responsible for 90% of the current debt.

Obama, in a telephone interview with The Des Moines Register yesterday, said: “When you look at why the debt exploded under my watch, it’s because somebody else ran the tab before I got into office. Essentially 90 percent of the increase in debt is two wars on a credit card, two tax cuts that weren’t paid for, a prescription drug plan that was not paid for and a massive recession that required extraordinary measures, brought much less revenue in and required a lot more revenue going out in the form of things like unemployment insurance.”

The Washington PostÂ’s Fact Check gave the 90 percent claim, which Obama has stated repeatedly, four Pinocchios for its lack of truth.

In a report published today, Fact CheckÂ’s Glenn Kessler broke down the disappearance of the surplus and the rise of deficits.

About 27 percent of the problem can be tied to Obama policies in 2009, about 35 percent in 2010 and 44 percent in 2011, Kessler found.

“We are not trying to make excuses for the fiscal excesses of the Bush administration — and Congress — in the last decade. But at some point, a president has to take ownership of his own actions,” the report says.

Obama take responsibility for his actions? That's flat out racism.

Report: Obama Administration Knew Within 24 Hours That Benghazi Attack Was A Terrorist Attack
— DrewM

What about your gaffes? What about your lies?

Within 24 hours of the 9-11 anniversary attack on the United States consulate in Benghazi, U.S. intelligence agencies had strong indications al Qaeda–affiliated operatives were behind the attack, and had even pinpointed the location of one of those attackers. Three separate U.S. intelligence officials who spoke to The Daily Beast said the early information was enough to show that the attack was planned and the work of al Qaeda affiliates operating in Eastern Libya.

...

The intelligence officials who spoke to The Daily Beast did so anonymously because they weren’t authorized to speak to the press. They said U.S. intelligence agencies developed leads on four of the participants of the attacks within 24 hours of the fire fight that took place mainly at an annex near the Benghazi consulate. For one of those individuals, the U.S. agencies were able to find his location after his use of social media. “We had two kinds of intelligence on one guy,” this official said. “We believe we had enough to target him.”

Did they target him? Nope but the Libyans did go after the people responsible for the attack. What Obama and his administration did was systematically coverup the fact there was a terrorist attack on the US on the anniversary of 9/11. As with most things they do, they did it badly.

First Lying Jay Carney did what he does...he lied and said it was a protest that got out of hand. Of course, there wasn't a protest at all. Then they sent UN Ambassador Susan Rice out to put out the false story that it wasn't planned.

As these facts become known, Obama himself only refers to the attack as a terrorist attack when pressed on The View. In his speech to the UN he continued to intimate that it was all still just about some video.

There are no words that excuse the killing of innocents. There is no video that justifies an attack on an embassy. There is no slander that provides an excuse for people to burn a restaurant in Lebanon, or destroy a school in Tunis, or cause death and destruction in Pakistan.

Now the attack in Benghazi was on a consulate, not an embassy so he's playing word games here. He never once used the words "terrorist" or "terrorism" to describe the Benghazi attack in that speech.

And yet, the media that is forever decrying the "smallness" of the campaign won't put all this together and hammer Obama. I wonder why.

Man, I'm so old I remember when this was all the fault of Mitt Romney for releasing a statement too early.

Attention Chicago-land Morons: Here's How You Can Make a Difference

Help cut down on some of the rampant Democratic vote fraud in Cook County by becoming a Republican election judge. Otherwise the Democrats get to fill these slots and do anything they like without even a peep of objection.

Democrats hate this woman because systematically she's gone after one avenue of voter fraud after another, removing layers of fraud that Democrats have built into Illinois elections since the first Mayor Daley was magically finding boxes of votes to give John F. Kennedy the edge in 1960.

Her name is Sharon Meroni and she needs your help today.

It's down to the wire and Sharon still needs 500 Republican election judges in Cook County.and she needs them by this coming Thursday.  If she doesn't find 500 more judges, then Democrats will get to fill those positions.just like they have in previous elections.  Democrats use those slots as patronage pay-offs and also enjoy having complete control of polling places.which is how the dead are allowed to vote in many cases or how, mysteriously, people who didn't actually show up to vote end up voting anyway if Democrats need them to in tight elections.  Without a Republican judge in a polling place to prevent this from happening, fraud is institutionalized in Cook County elections.
1. 500 people who live in Cook County who voted Republican in the past (which means they are registered as Republicans in Illinois, because party registration is determined by which ballot you pull in the primaries)

2. Get the word out that these 500 people need to go to www.ElectionJudges.us to apply to be election  judges in Cook County

And you'll get paid $170/day for doing it.

Romney, Ryan: Obama Doesn't Want The Public To Know What Happened In Libya
— Ace

Getting sharper.

As CBS' political director said: You can't expect the media to point out Obama's failures on their own. You have to push it.

"I think they want to do their very best to keep the people of America from understanding exactly what happened. We expect candor, we expect transparency, particularly, as it relates to terrorism," Romney said.

"Why is he (Obama) not on the same page with his own administration officials who are saying that this is a terrorist attack? We'll leave it up to you to decide whether it's a coverup or not," Ryan said.

Video at the link.

Now: Something that's been bothering me.

I hear chatter from Team Romney that they no longer think that just hitting Obama on the economy will work.

I suppose that's true, in a trivial way. No one thing and one thing only will work.

But what I'm becoming a little unnerved by is the lack of a push on the economy anymore.

One highpoint of this campaign, for me, was Romney's whiteboard. I thought it signified that he'd be making the case against Obama on the economy sharply, cogently.

Instead, lately... I almost feel like they're conceding "We'll never convince people on this."

Maybe the economy alone can't win this thing, but without the economy as a pressing, top issue we are surely doomed.

I bring this up because while I approve of the toughness on Libya, I definitely do not want some "reboot" where they begin trying to emphasize issues other than the economy.

If you haven't won on the economy yet: You double down. You become more insistent. You rebut everything Clinton claimed. You begin running those Scare the Shit Out of the Public ads you once ran in the primaries.

The predicate for any decision to dump Obama is that the economy is bad and he deserves blame for that. The conclusion sought-- vote for Romney -- can only exist once that predicate is established.

If, as the polls indicate, people are starting to think the economy's okay, then that needs addressing. Urgently.

Maybe the election will not be won on the economy alone, but surely it will not be won on anything else.
