It's bizarre -- so many Americans not in the media think that when two parties have an unresolvable disagreement, both share fault (or credit) for sticking to their guns to and refusing to negotiate.

Of course, in this case, only one side is refusing to negotiate.

Did you know this? In the days before the shutdown, Obama kept calling Boehner to reach out to him.... to tell him he wouldn't negotiate.

President Barack Obama repeatedly complained on Thursday that the public took a skeptical attitude toward his decision to shutdown the government rather than agree to the GOPÂ’s Obamacare reform proposals.

According to the president, too many Americans believe “both sides are just squabbling” and “neither side is behaving properly.”

All he does is complain. He's so femmy.

No Drama Obama, huh? Yeah.

Meanwhile, another show in the #ShutdownTheater National Revue has been closed -- by which I mean the Air Force/Navy game is back on.

Air Force will play Saturday at Navy as a $230,000 gift will cover the teamÂ’s expenses and avert a possible cancellation of the football rivalry game resulting from the government shutdown.

NavyÂ’s official website announced the news that the game would be played, saying approval was handed down from the Department of Defense to play the sold-out game.

The media's Narrative that this is Just Politics On One Side was always stupid, but the Democrats are cutting the legs from beneath that Narrative, by announcing This Is Just About Politics Themselves.

As Politico reported Thursday, during the 1995 government shutdown congressional Republicans and President Bill Clinton were able to agree to a "stopgap bill to assure funding for veterans, welfare recipients and the District of Columbia."

Why won't Senate Democrats and President Obama agree now to any more stopgap funding bills?

Senator Chuck Schumer of New York told THE WEEKLY STANDARD following a noon press conference Thursday that in 1995 "it was a different world." Why is that? "Because we have a Tea Party," Schumer said without elaborating as he walked away.

Landrieu said that "the Tea Party has to understand that they cannot hold government and our private partners--which are many from big companies like Boeing and Lockheed to small companies that are represented here--hostage over their inability to get a law that they don't like amended."

"It is my hope--my hope--that many brave men and women in the Republican party will stand up and close this Tea Party down," Landrieu said.

A police officer who dropped off his daughter at her Phoenix elementary school was asked by the schoolÂ’s principal not to wear his uniform to the school because other parents were concerned that he was carrying a gun, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported.

Scott Urkov is a police officer for the Coolidge Police Department. The department told him not to comment to media inquiries, but immediately after he received the no-uniform request, he posted on Facebook.

"Nothing like your kids school calling and asking if I could not come to pick up my daughter in uniform cause parents were concerned when their kids came home telling them there was a man at school with a gun, “ he posted. “Are you freaking kidding me?"

A district spokeswoman told the station that "some parents" voiced concern about seeing a fully armed police officer on the schoolÂ’s campus. The spokeswoman apologized that Urkov perhaps took the discussion the wrong way.

"It was not the intent of the principal to offend him," the spokeswoman said.

Totaled cop cruiser, presumably near scene of final encounter

Uh-Oh: The way this may have unfolded is thus: man attempts to ram car through White House barricades, then flees, pursued by cops, and is cornered at the Capitol.

All of this is unconfirmed (or at least fluid) so don't get too attached to any particular storyline.

This aspect of it is now being reported by Pete Williams, who is right until proven wrong.

Less confirmed: ABC News says the suspect was female -- and she's dead at the scene.

Update: Was this merely a pursuit of a criminal which wound up ending at the Capitol?

An update from Yahoo News suggests the police were involved in a car chase with a criminal perpetrator, cornering the suspect at the Capitol and leading to an exchange of gunfire.

I keep seeing reports that a cop was shot, but they seem to be calling that an "injury" rather than a murder.

Update: In what is probably an unrelated matter -- this happened two hours ago -- Rep. Sean Duffy was assaulted. The Huffington Post's headline (no link) is "GOP Congressman gets into physical altercation outside Capitol," as opposed to "Leftwinger Assaults Congressman on the Street."

Obviously I have no idea what's going on. The media is going to jump the gun and speculate this is a Tea Partier, as usual.

Reince Priebus stuck his head into the clown car today for an interview by Thomas Roberts. Unintentional hilarity ensued.

The interview was heated from the start, with Roberts claiming Obamacare has a ”mandate by the people reelecting the president and both houses of Congress,” leading Priebus to accuse Roberts of using “talking points.”

“They’re not talking points,” Roberts exclaimed, referring to a speech Obama gave in Maryland moments before the exchange. “That’s directly from what the president just gave a speech on.”

They don't repeat White House talking points over there at MSNBC. Nope, nosiree.

They just repeat the points Obama reads from the TelePrompTer.
