The World's Easiest Column
— Ace

I find this sort of column trivial and silly. But conservatives pump it out, with minor variations, ever three months.

I have no real problem with it... I don't disagree with it, so much as I think it's just silly. It pleases readers while being perfectly trivial in its ambitions.

And this is Charles Krauthammer, who is a pretty smart guy. But I really do think this whole "Let's kick up a fuss about what euphemisms we use for terrorism" thing is kind of stale.

We conservatives, as a group, minted quite a few of these sorts of columns from 2001 to 2006 and I think all that can be said has been said.

I suppose my main problem is that I don't see the problem with using diplomatic language to discuss tricky things. I don't mean the absurd "workplace violence" claim about Nisan; that is an outrage.

But I don't see how the ball is advanced much by declaring, forthrightly, that America is engaged in War on Radical Islam. Which isn't true per se; we're engaged in a war on terrorist cells within radical Islam. Given that one third (or more) of the Islamic world adheres to what you'd call Radical Islam, I don't see it as a "war" on all of Radical Islam, unless people really want to bomb Lahore.

Which, by the way, yeah I know. It's a thought, I grant you.

So what we're engaged in is a war on terrorism supported by Radical Islam and a political/diplomatic effort to calm the not-terrorist (yet) elements of Radical Islam down.

Anyway, just an opinion. You may disagree. I just find this sort of a Kabuki argument we make when we don't have anything bad to say but want to say something.

Harry Reid: Republicans Only Oppose ObamaCare Because Obama Is Black
— Ace

I know I added this as an update to a previous thought, but Fredosso has some more thoughts.

Of course, this isnÂ’t just about Reid or his habit of spreading demonstrably false and defamatory rumors about people he doesnÂ’t agree with. This is about AmericaÂ’s political conversation. It has devolved now into a bunch of white liberals using ObamaÂ’s race as an excuse for his record. All dissent was once patriotic. All dissent is now racist.

I would add this: The Corrupt Corporate Media is always on-patrol for what they deem to be distastefully demagogic statements by, say, Ted Cruz, and yet Harry Reid, who is, oddly enough, a prissy thug, and makes repulsively stupid statements all the time, is still considered by them to be One of the Good Guys.

I mean, he even supported the #WarOnWomen (pro-life, supposedly) until his Party needed him not to be.

Obama: I Didn't Just Suspend the Law of the United States on My Own Authority; I Suspended the Law in Consultation With "Businesses" (My Donors)
— Ace

So, if I understand this right, so long as any future president has the support of "businesses" and donors for suspending parts of ObamaCare, he has the constitutional power to do so.

I'll take that precedent. Makes things easier than I thought they would be, actually.

I think if a Republican is elected in 2016, he just might have support in the business and corporate community for suspending all elements of ObamaCare.

There was one question on this, from Ed Henry, and no follow-ups from anyone else.

The media, the alleged "Watchdogs of Democracy," apparently believes it is a fairly unobjectionable statement that the president may suspend the law on his own authority as he may see politically fit, so long as he has the blessing of what I'm going to call The Corporate Congress.

Obama Presser
— Ace

I've put the other post into draft because this is breaking and live.

Link to the live feed here.

Obama began his photo op by reiterating the claim that The Middle Class is his highest priority, then segued, awkwardly, to surveillance and terrorism. (Update: Jones in CO points out he worked in #AndTheMiddleClass twice, and that was just in his opening sentences.)

Michelle Malkin: Bob Filner and The Great #WarOnWomen Cover-Up
— Ace

By the way, another victim came forward, the 13th or 14th (depending on if you count the Escondido Deputy Mayor's "What's Your Sitch?" incident), alleging an escalation in the Filner Headlock to the Filner Choke Hold. So I guess she was especially desirable. Or vulnerable. Maybe Filner thought she was a rape survivor.

Michelle Malkin would like to know where the #WarOnWomen Valkyries during Filner's
twenty year history of abuse as a sitting United States Congressman.

When feminists ask how this could have happened for so long, they need to start asking every last enabling Democratic woman on the Hill. They need to start asking every last enabling liberal female pundit, columnist, and media insider who peddled GOP-bashing War on Women propaganda while Filthy Filner was on the loose.

With the grope-and-headlock count rising like BobÂ’s libido at a Planned Parenthood fundraiser, it strains credulity to believe that the Democratic female elite in Washington didnÂ’t purposely look the other way at this insatiable entrenched beastÂ’s abuse of power. Power doesnÂ’t just corrupt the old-boysÂ’ club in three-piece suits. It corrupts the old-girlsÂ’ club in pumps and progressive clothing, too.

Now the #WarOnWomen were willing to look the other way while Filner was groping his way up and down the handshake lines, but now that his behavior is known and thus a threat to them, Sexual Harassment Brunhildas like Barbara Boxer are very desperate to make sure the media reports how "outraged" they are to suddenly discover what they've known for years and years.

John Sexton reports on what Filner's Sleepaway Camp Sex Addiction looks like and what sorts of Arts and Crafts therapies are available therein.

A sample schedule indicates that most days begin at 9:30am with "check-in and accountability." At 10:15am there is a lecture on various topics related to sexual addiction such as "The Reality of Sexual Addiction." Next comes lunch and a support group which lasts until 2:15pm. This is followed by an hour of individual therapy. Another lecture goes until 4:30pm and there is one more hour of individual therapy from 5-6pm.

Then comes Sexual Puppet Aversion Therapy, which consists of someone hitting you with an Elmo muppet until your hard-on goes away.

"The Fountain of Healthy Attitudes Towards Sexuality"
Not depicted: Bob Filner furiously masturbating
to a box of Girl Scout cookies just outside of frame

What's Filner's prognosis? Well, I'm sure they'll have lots of luck reforming a 70 year old man who's been doing this his whole life. As the old saying goes, "Old dogs love new tricks!!!"

Robert Weiss, the director of SRI, refused to confirm whether Filner was being treated at his facility. This is not surprising given that SRI's admission form states "Unless legally bound to do so (see below) we will not release any information about our clients to any party without an SRI Release of Information form signed by the client."

However Weiss did tell ABC more generally "If someone comes to me and they have been publicly exposed Â… and are in denial Â… that's not someone that's going to make it in two weeks of treatment." Weiss said that someone who refuses to let go of power may have a challenge ahead because "people I work with need to tune down their lives."

And also, their visible erections, but I guess that's implied by "context clues." more...

The Hill Headline: "ObamaCare 'Death Panel' Faces Growing Opposition from Democrats"
— Ace

I've got a great idea: The Republican Party should go meekly along with funding ObamaCare, because it's obviously so popular. It might cost them seats to oppose it.

ObamaCare’s cost-cutting board — memorably called a “death panel” by Sarah Palin — is facing growing opposition from Democrats who say it will harm people on Medicare.

Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean drew attention to the board designed to limit Medicare cost growth when he called for its repeal in an op-ed late last month.

Dean was quickly criticized by supporters of the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), who noted his ties to the healthcare industry as an adviser to a major D.C. lobbying firm.

But the former Vermont governor is not the only Democrat looking to kill the panel.

A wave of vulnerable Democrats over the past three months has signed on to bills repealing the boardÂ’s powers, including Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.) and Reps. Ron Barber (Ariz.), Ann Kirkpatrick (Ariz.), Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) and Elizabeth Esty (Conn.).

All five are considered vulnerable in next yearÂ’s election, highlighting the stakes and the political angst surrounding the healthcare measure.

Obama and his leftist cultist have created monsters in order to "fix" two problems: difficulty getting insurance for the already-sick and permitting "children" to stay on their parents' insurance until their "Sweet Twenty-Sixth" birthday.

But apparently it's more important to "have the issue" than to actually accomplish any public good.

Harry Reid: Gee I Sure Hope the GOP isn't Opposing ObamaCare Because Obama is Black. No, that's why Mark Pryor and Howard Dean oppose it though.

The show ends on a lighter note, with a discussion of the new Dr. Who, television, and Brittany's first interaction with Ace Rick.

For Further Review & Study: Ace here. I mentioned this Carolla rip on Piers Morgan in the podcast. I've linked it before, but I like it a lot.

"Game on" as far as narcissism in America.

Look at what's in the White House. As we've all learned, Obama can give quite a good speech.

And also, he can do your jobs better than you can.

Alec Baldwin, Known Racist and Gay-Hater, To Host MSNBC Show
— Ace

What will the show be called?

I have a suggestion. Given the fact that it is only a matter of time before Alec Baldwin calls his critics "coons," "queens," or implies they're dykes, MSNBC should just cut out the middleman and call the hour-long program what it will eventually be called anyway:

A Heartfelt Apology to Our Gay and Minority Viewers
with Alec Baldwin

Paula Deen lost everything, but Alec Baldwin has paid no price at all for his serial deployment of forbidden slurs. Know this, and Know That They Protect Their Own.

Because people who are on TV are Dumb, and Dumb is Easy, and Easy is Holy, so by the commutative property of mathematics, People On TV are Holy.

Paula Deen Was on TV Too: A commenter notes this. Yes, I was trying to make a point about Baldwin being mobbed up with the NBC tv and corporate crew -- he hosted Saturday Night Live twenty or more times and so knew all the people in the building. I imagine he got heavily drunk with suits a time or two.

Plus, being a Handsome Person from Hollywood, he was infusing their lives with a little frisson of celebrity when he would gift them with his presence, and apparently they still haven't gotten over being star-struck.

People in the media are starf***ers. That's why they're there. They want to be Among the famous, or famous themselves, and anyone who wants to be famous himself considers fame a virtue and therefore Alec Baldwin has virtue.

Or at least he had it during the 80s and 90s. Close enough.

By virtual teachers, I mean ones no longer present, fired, dismissed, let go, defunct, joined the existence ephemeral, present in spirit only.
