— Ace And I specifically note my outrage at the suggestion that non-native English speakers sometimes speak in floridly inappropriate language.
Thats said, funny stuff, as usual, from John From Wuzzadem. This time it's a parody of the Chinese newspaper interview with the Washington Post's Managing Editor, Phillip "America can suck it" Bennet.

— Ace Well, I don't hate it. I just don't care about it.
What I hate is being expected to have a frigging opinion about Xavier's chances against Georgetown just because I'm 1) male 2) heterosexual and 3) usually standing around with a beer in my hand and a spit-bubble forming in my slack-jawed mouth.
And I hate that look I get when I confess ignorance, and then the other guy -- or, Emasculation City, the girl -- says, "You're not into The Madness, man?" and then gives me that look. That look that says, "Why don't you get out of here and go hang out in Downtown Lad's 3 million dollar loft?"
Hey-- leave me alone. I follow one sport and I think that's enough. (The Amazing Race is considered a sport, right? I mean, it's got track-and-field elements in it. And Extreme Travel Booking. And Synchronized Shouting At Foreign Taxi Drivers.)
But a lot of you probably are probably going to be watching "The Madness" and so you might as well attempt to try to make this six bazillion hours of tv coverage interesting by entering the ACCBasketblog pool.
And if you win, you'll get 1) props and 2) a Basketblog t-shirt or coffee mug, whenever they get around to making them.
You know what's cool? Free shit. That's what's cool, baby.

I gotta tell ya, that Doonesbury is almost as funny as Cathi or Marmaduke.
Well, okay, not Marmaduke. I mean, Marmaduke has this huge dog in it. He's like, I don't know, friggin' enormous or somethin'.
Now that's comedy. Big, huge dogs who think "funny" thoughts.
Has Doonesbury ever actually been funny? Or has it always been like the later films of Woody Allen-- ie., the cultural elite approves of Doonesbury, so everyone pretends they find it funny, in order to not be look unhip or lacking a refined sense of humor?
Would seem to be another case of "preference falsification" to me. Seriously. Yeah, the character "Duke" is based on Hunter S. Thompson. Pardon me for asking-- but so fucking what? Is that a joke in and of itself?
And don't get me started on "Boopsie."
Now, if you'll excuse me, the kids have tied their wagon to Marmaduke's tail. Man, are they in for the ride of their lives...
PS: This will be the first and last time I ever post a stupid Doonesbury cartoon.

— Ace That's how Athena at Terrorism Unveiled (who I got to meet briefly at CPAC, btw) translates "How you like them apples?" into Arabic.
Anyway:
You may have already seen most of these, but you ought to take a chance and click here.
Amazing.
Warning: Does not contain gratuitous shots of Lebanese cleavage.
Seems I've already disappointed one reader.
These are huge crowd shots. I'm sure there are boobies somewhere in them, but you'd have to pretty damn horny to try finding them... it's worse than trying to watch the fuzzed-out porn channels you don't subscribe to, where every seven or eight minutes you think you see something that might be a nipple.
Or a parakeet. One or the other. Hard to say for certain.

— Ace Ahem. You know, I get a little tired of people claiming that we don't need an FMA; that we should just let "the states" decide.
By which most of these people really mean: We should let state judges decide. Which isn't the usual meaning given to the expression "the states."

— Ace Remember, guys, this is all topical and political. I'm just covering world affairs when I link stuff like this.
Thanks to Ray Midge.
Seriously. Thanks.

— Ace [Pardon the use of the royal "we." My old schtick was that this was a lavishly-funded 644-man operation.]
How does she does it? How does Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist, the Doyenne of Ditz, produce one thought-provoking, cogently-argued column after another?
We've all wondered. All of us, every one of us, has pondered the very impossibilty of the Ms. Dowd's consistently high-quality analytical output. (Or "Money" Dowd, as we call her. As in, "That lady is nothing but money!!")
We're sure that you, just as we, have wished for the ability to write as smartly as Ms. Dowd. But that, surely, would be impossible.
Or... would it?

— Ace Lorie Byrd from PoliPundit tips to a Michelle Malkin rip on Dowd.
Check out Maureen's eternal whine:
In 1996, after six months on the job, I went to Howell Raines, the editorial page editor, to try to get out of the column. I was a bundle of frayed nerves. I felt as though I were in a "Godfather" movie, shooting and getting shot at. Men enjoy verbal dueling. As a woman, I told Howell, I wanted to be liked - not attacked. He said I could go back to The Metro Section; I decided to give it another try.
You know, I try to mix my references up a bit. I even reference stuff I don't know much about. I can't make everything a Paul Anka, D&D, or Whitensnake reference, after all.
This is Maureen Dowd's 4,897th likening of something she doesn't like to The Godfather and/or The Sopranos (or both). And yes, I've been counting (scan down for the parody "Artificial Insouciance."
Why aren't there more female opinion columnists?
Because the current "Alpha Chick" of the set is trite, vapid, and repetitive to the point of tediousness. She hasn't had anything to say for about, oh, going on seven years now.
This moron is keeping you down, ladies.
It would be much the same were Oliver Willis taken to be an exemplar of male bloggers.
Distaff Update: As Cathy Seipp notes, Susan Estrich ain't doin' female writers no favors, neither.

— Ace Do I believe it? Maybe; I don't know.
But even if it's true, it demonstrates Clinton's unwillingness to get his own hands dirty... at the expense of compromising American security. He turned down an offer of extradition to the US, citing the "fact" that bin Ladin had committed no crimes against the US. So, instead, he tried to get the Saudis to take him and behead him (or so goes the story), but they balked.
And so he remained free.
Another point. Instapundit made this point over the weekend, I think, but I've made it before. The anti-war left bitches and moans about Bush's "renditions" of terrorist suspects to countries where they will likely be tortured, or at least be exposed to very harsh language.
And yet we know for a fact -- and have long known-- that Bill Clinton did the same thing.
And yet no wailing and gnashing of teeth then... was there?
I do have respect for principled anti-war voices. But I do not respect those who so obviously and clearly put partisan rooting interests ahead of national security. It cannot be the case that Bush's renditions are cause for leftist outrage whereas Clinton's renditions are cited by the same leftists as proof that Clinton was "really trying to deal harshly with terrorists."

— Ace Funny bit of vague and unhelpful pictograms culled from government terrorism information packs, with MSTK3-type snarking about the likely meaning of each.
Good stuff.
