The Obligation To Insult
— Ace

See-Dubya has a thoughtful piece about South Park, the cartoon wars, and Islam.

I agree, there is no general duty to mock or ridicule. And I would take no delight in mocking Islam as a general matter-- there are things like courtesy and respect.

However, I do think it becomes a duty to mock or ridicule when some people threaten to kill you if you do. Courtesy and respect do not come at the end of a knife used to saw off a head. What Islamists seek is our subordination -- at which point it becomes necessary to resist by all means necessary. And courtesy and respect go out the window.

As long as Islamists aren't trying to kill me or subordinate me to their religion (not mine), I am more than willing to refrain from insulting something sacred to them.

The moment the request for respect comes as a demand, with the threat of violence for non-compliance, the proper response must be "Fuck you and your pedophilic murderer of a 'prophet' (and God-damn him to Hell).'"

That's not polite. Nor is it respectful. But neither is arson, bombing, maiming, and murder. Courtesy and respect are to be offered only to those civilized enough to offer it in return.

To the civilized and peaceful, respect is owed. But for murderous blackmailers, defiance and derision is demanded.

The American Street... is becoming radicalized, Chums. The American Street is getting just about ready to erupt into violence itself.

You don't want that. You may think you do, but you don't.

Moussaoui Explains Reasons Islamists Hate America; Fails To Mention Poverty, or Kyoto Accords
— Ace

Just as Hitler was, these bastards are so murderously insane they're quite candid about their beliefs.

And just as with Hitler, the appeasers and surrender brigades refuse to listen.

I should note-- he does mention Israel. But in context, it's clear that he feels America has to be destroyed, whether or not Israel is destroyed before or after. It has nothing to do with Israel.

It's because Allah has dictated that Muslims shall rule the world, and America stands in their way.

Reasserting his role in Sept. 11, al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui told jurors Thursday he has "no regret, no remorse," was disgusted by the heart-rending testimony of victims and relatives and only wished they had suffered more.

He said hearing a Navy officer sobbing in court made his day.

"So you would be happy to see 9/11 again?" Prosecutor Rob Spencer asked.

"Every day until we get you," the bearded 37-year-old Frenchman shot back.

As court-appointed defense lawyers began the last phase of their effort to save him from execution, Moussaoui put in a second unsettling appearance on the witness stand.

Let him talk the needle right into his fucking arm.

...

Among his most startling statements, Moussaoui said Army Lt. Col. John Thurman's harrowing account of escaping the burning Pentagon left him with "regret that he didn't die."

He mocked a Navy officer who wept as she described the death of two subordinates in the attack on the Pentagon.

"I think it was disgusting for a military person" to cry, Moussaoui said of Lt. Nancy McKeown. "She is military. She should expect people at war with her to want to kill her."

Asked if he was happy to hear her sobbing, he said, "Make my day."

He noted many relatives of victims wept on the witness stand, then walked past him in the courtroom and looked his way without crying. "I find it disgusting that people come here to share their grief over the death of some other person," he said.

"I'm glad there was pain, and I wish there will be more pain," Moussaoui said. "The children in Palestine and in Chechnya will have pain. I want you to share their pain."

So, Spencer asked: "You have no regret, no remorse?"

"No regret, no remorse," Moussaoui responded.

When he left court after the judge and jury, he yelled: "God curse America. We will win. It's just a question of time."

...

In a lengthy explanation of why he hates Americans, Moussaoui said Islam requires Muslims to be the world's superpower as he flipped through a copy of the Quran searching for verses to support his assertion. He said one verse requires Muslims "to fight against all who believe not in Allah."

"We have an obligation to be the superpower. You have to be subdued," Moussaoui said. "America is a superpower and you want to eradicate Islam."

Submit to the supremacy of Islam and Shari'a or be exterminated. Poverty and Israel don't have a goddamned thing to do with it-- except to the extent that Israelis continue to bruise these psychopaths' eggshell egos by continuing to succeed where they fail so miserably.

He criticized U.S. support for Israel. "Every child who has been killed in Palestine has been killed because of you," he said. Israel is "just a missing star in the American flag," he added.

In a particularly revealing response, Moussaoui explained to Spencer why he shocked the sentencing trial by testifying March 27 that he had been ordered to hijack a fifth plane on 9/11 and fly it into the White House - a plot he had long maintained was targeted for a later date.

"I thought it was useless to try to differentiate myself from 9/11," Moussaoui said. "I wanted to stand for 9/11 from the beginning. I thought I could do so and fight on against the death penalty. On purely rational grounds, it's a bit odd. ... By testifying truthfully, I will save my life. It's an act of religion."

That's how far gone these people are. He thinks that God not only commands him to murder thousands of people, but by testifying "honestly" that Allah commands him to murder, he'll actually be spared.

It's an act of religion, you see.

For the first time in four years of fighting to represent himself or get a Muslim lawyer, he finally explained the defense he wanted to put on. With U.S. troops engaged around the world, Moussaoui said, a life sentence would make him available "as a bargaining chip they could exchange for U.S. troops" held prisoner.

"This would work with even the most vengeful juror," Moussaoui said. "Put him in jail and one day he could save an American life."

With all due respect, sometimes it's better to lose one life if by doing so you can remove an evil life from the planet.

And, actually, the quicker we kill him, the better. The faster these people are killed, the less chance they have to be bartered out of jail with hostage-taking.

Are there any liberals willing to listen to this? Or are they going to continue insisting these are reasonable men who can be negotiated with, if only we give them Israel and a couple of billion dollars in economic aid/ransom?

University Librarian Recommends Conservative Books To Students, Then Gets Hit With Sexual Harrassment Rap
— Ace

Corrected.

Outrageous.

Officials at the Ohio State University are investigating an OSU Mansfield librarian for “sexual harassment” after he recommended four conservative books for a freshman reading program. ADF has demanded that OSU cease its frivolous investigation, yet the university is pressing forward, claiming that it takes the charges “seriously.”

“Universities are one of the most hostile places for Christians and conservatives in America,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel David French, who heads ADF’s Center for Academic Freedom. “It is shameful that OSU would investigate a Christian librarian for simply recommending books that are at odds with the prevailing politics of the university.”

Scott Savage, who serves as a reference librarian for the university, suggested four best-selling conservative books for freshman reading in his role as a member of OSU MansfieldÂ’s First Year Reading Experience Committee. The four books he suggested were The Marketing of Evil by David Kupelian, The Professors by David Horowitz, Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis by Bat YeÂ’or, and It Takes a Family by Senator Rick Santorum. Savage made the recommendations after other committee members had suggested a series of books with a left-wing perspective, by authors such as Jimmy Carter and Maria Shriver.

Savage was put under “investigation” by OSU’s Office of Human Resources after three professors filed a complaint of discrimination and harassment against him, saying that the book suggestions made them feel “unsafe.” The complaint came after the OSU Mansfield faculty voted without dissent to file charges against Savage. The faculty later voted to allow the individual professors to file charges.

On March 28, ADF sent OSU officials a letter informing them of Savage’s constitutional rights. A copy of the letter can be read at www.telladf.org/UserDocs/OSUMansfieldletter.pdf. The university so far has declined to stop the investigation, saying in its response that it takes “any allegation of sexual harassment seriously.”

“The OSU Mansfield faculty is attempting to label a librarian as a ‘sexual harasser’ because they disagree with his book suggestions,” said French. “It is astonishing that an entire faculty would vote to launch a sexual harassment investigation because a librarian offered book suggestions in a committee whose purpose was to solicit such suggestions.”

If true, it's a new form of Oleanna Stalinism. If an adult professor cries "harrassment" because she doesn't like a librarian's book suggestions, the faculty jumps to investigate, rather than dismissing the charges as unhinged crankery... so long as she targets the right sort of "harrasser."

Thanks to Andrew's Dad.

Correction: I initally misread this and thought the charges came from students. I also expressed some skepticism at the story, thinking that maybe there wasn't a real connection between the books and the harrassment charge.

Given the fact that these charges come from adult fucking women claiming to feel "unsafe" based on book recommendations, I retract all skepticism. This is unbelievable.

Thanks again to Andrew's Dad for correcting me.

Oleanna... is worth a rental, if you haven't seen it. It's stagey, it's a little slow, it's got David Mamet showing off his capacity for fractured oddly-cadence psuedodialogue, but it's pretty good. It's pretty much precisely what's happened to this librarian, only it was presented in 1994 as a cautionary tale that could probably never, ever happen.

One thing that perplexes me: Reviewers, and the film's tag-line, think this is a play with no clear hero or villain. That's jackass. If that's what Mamet intended, he failed (and he's even more lefty than I imagined-- how could he imagine the false-sexual-harassment-accuser in this play is anything but an unhinged villainess?). It's not that the man is hero; it's just that his female student is clearly the villain.

I guess that shows how far gone our elite media really are. They actually think this play is ambiguous.

Proper Credit: To Andrew's Dad. I got my tipsters mixed up the first time around.

Russian Gypsy Singer Goes Nuts On Flight
— Ace

There must have been a cartoon of a Russian Gypsy Prophet printed in the in-flight magazine:

A 50-year-old Russian celebrity is accused of getting violent on a flight from Las Vegas to New York City, slapping a flight attendant in the face, "hexing" the plane, announcing that it would crash and declaring that all the passengers, their children and their grandchildren would die.
The Delta Air Lines pilot made an unscheduled stop early Tuesday just after midnight at Denver International Airport, where passenger Svetlana Yankovsky, a well-known Russian Gypsy singer and dancer, was arrested.

She faces a federal charge of interfering with a flight crew.

One flight attendant told an FBI agent that Yankovsky was drinking from a bottle of wine while the plane was taxiing at the Las Vegas airport, according to court documents.

After the flight attendant took away the bottle, Yankovsky allegedly demanded her "red water" back and began singing, chanting and touching other passengers.

As always, I am shocked that alcohol played any role in this.

Thanks to Craig.

Coming Soon: ROBOT Snakes On A Plane!
— Ace

Robot snakes... I hate robot snakes:

For most people, snakes seem unpleasant or even threatening. But Howie Choset sees in their delicate movements a way to save lives.

The 37-year-old Carnegie Mellon University professor has spent years developing snake-like robots he hopes will eventually slither through collapsed buildings in search of victims trapped after natural disasters or other emergencies.

In recent weeks, Choset and some of his students made what he said was an industry breakthrough: enabling the articulated, remote-controlled devices to climb up and around pipes.

Rescue workers say such robots would help them meet their challenge of locating survivors. Current equipment has limited mobility and is usually lowered into fallen structures, Choset said.

"Right now, the way to get to these trapped survivors is to pull the rubble out one rock at a time," Choset said. "So our dream is to have the snake robot thread through this collapsed rubble and get to victims more quickly."

Thanks to yls.

Still, it's something. It's a possible point for further negotiation.

Perhaps actually having power and responsibility is imposing some sort of discipline and realism upon these killers.

Prepare Yourselves For A Shock: A Kennedy Was Reportedly Hammered
— Ace

And also most likely shitfaced drunk:

U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy was hit in the face with a hammer when an entrepreneur, demonstrating shock absorption, accidentally sent the hammer's head flying at Kennedy's mouth.

Kennedy received six stitches in his bottom lip after the incident Wednesday during an economic development meeting, his spokeswoman Robin Costello said.

His spokeswoman further said "I'm happy that he was hit in the face, and not below the waist, which would have been more embarrassing, given that he was not wearing pants at the time."

Thanks to Eric.
