UK's Deputy PM: Bush Is "Crap"
— Ace

I question the timing!

Just as Bush is basking in the warm glow of favorable public opinion for the SkyBomb Terror busts, Tony Blair is "conveniently" out of England, "accidentally" (whoopsie!) leaving behind an anti-Bush deputy of Labor's left, anti-American wing to hurl insults at him and cynically accuse him of increasing the risks of terrorism and...

Awwww, fuck it.

I don't know how they can write drivel like this.

It takes some energy, I'll tell you that. No intelligence, but you do need the energy to try to breathe new life into this incredibly hackneyed, trite, and braindead leftist cant.

Results 1 - 10 of about 73,400 for "question the timing". (0.79 seconds)

73,400 uses of the phrase "question the timing," idiots.

Next time you're tempted to "question the timing," why don't you instead put your efforts into a more productive venture, such as writing a nice erotic short story for the fine folks at Literotica.com?

Sure, that's repetitive and obvious stuff, too, but believe me, there are a hell of alot more small variations in human sexual behavior than there are in working the same three cliched notes of the wildly overplayed song "I Question the Timing."

The Ace Liberal Blog Troll Challenge: Everytime an idiot lefty "questions the timing," print the link for a Google search of "question the timing" and the current tally of the number of mindnumbingly repetitive posts that have thusfar employed this highly sophisticated, startlingly novel form of analysis.

Are you man enough to take the Challenge?

JonBenet Ramsey Suspect Named
— Ace

John Karr, formerly of Atlanta, Ga., was picked up in Bangkok, Thailand.

That sounds like probable cause right there.

Is anyone out there as shocked as me that 1) anyone was arrested and 2) it seems to be an outsider?

Update: Supposed there is a confession, made by email, to Thai cops, and to ICE, which took him into custody for extradition.

Supposedly these confessions also contain details about the crime not known to the general public, though I don't see that as likely, with all the exposure this case is gotten.

It's perfectly possible this guy is just a nutty confessor type.

DNA Match?: Tungsten Monk says there's a match between the suspect and DNA found on the undergarments. Unconfirmed at this time.

Jesus... if they were completely innocent... I owe them a huge apology myself.

And an apology to that one cop who was always going on TV to argue their innocence. Everytime I saw him, I thought he was just a lying bastard on the take.

He took a lot of that, including from the magazine shows that had him on, and always made his theories about the family's innocence seem absurd. (Can't blame the MSM; I was right there with them, saying "Nail that liar!")

But he stuck to his story.

And it looks like he was right. And I was very very wrong.

St. Andrew of the Sacred Heart-Ache Links Me
— Ace

Finally.

I've added a little message to him and his readers at the end of the "Andrew Sullivan Questions The Timing" post.

Ohhhhh... he's trying to walk back the cat on that one, but oh boy. It was big cat.

And cats are not as compliant as, say, beagels.

Hm. A triple 'lanche-- Malkin (thanks Karol), Sullivan, and Instapundit.

Two for making fun of Sullivan's dark descent into demogogic dementia, and one for lightly poking fun at Glenn Hehrolds, for being one of those pointy-headed types who likes to be "cautious" with "measured" and "deliberate" "reason."

I don't placate with "reason."

Are reason and I friends? Yes.

Do we talk? No.

Now... He says he was "merely" quibbling about whether or not it was "imminent."

Whatever, St. Andrew of the Sacred Heart-Ache. When precisely should we have waited for? We already found their bombs; we had recordings suggesting something happening (dry run or not) for TODAY.

If we had waited until late October... oh, boy, can you imagine the rich, savory cornucopia of questionings-of-the-timings then!

And what if we had waited TOO LONG? And 2000 people died? What would Andrew "More Troops/Fire Rummy/Rogue Nation/Abu Ghraib" Sullivan say THEN?

It is.

To laugh.

And remember -- the Brits deliberately went too early on this bust, potentially compromising the whole year long, multimillion dollar investigation, because, according to Sullivan, Joe Lieberman lost the primary to Ned Lamont.

Oh-- yeah, and in fairness, because Iraq continues to be the same shithole it's been for three years, and because Hezbollah continues its war on the Jews.

We had to "distract" the public's attention from those stories -- a war that's the same SNAFU it's been for a while, another war that was coming to a close by a ceasefire, and of course, the MONUMENTAL, EARTH-SHAKING LOSS of Joe Lieberman to Ned Lamont by 9000 or so votes in the KEY SWING STATE of Connecticut (a race he will ultimately win, of course) -- by FAKING an IMMINENT MEGATERROR PLOT.

Wow... that Tony Blair. I *thought* he was an ally, but I had no idea his loyalty to Bush extended to fabricating terror plots to "distract" from fairly unimportant US Senatorial primary contests.

Shocker: AP Stringer In Lebanon Has Anti-Israel Blog
— Ace

Just look at the cutel little graphic he posted.

The "checklist" of "Israeli targets" includes "Bridges," "Schools," "Hospitals," "Homes," "Children," all checked off (mission accomplished!), but no check for "Hezbollah."

Just look at the pictures, he says.

Yes. Just look at the pictures, taken by Hezbollah stooges like yourself, in which you plant toys and Korans and wedding dresses and even "fallen" men posing as corpses for propaganda, but never take photographs of armed Hezbollah gunmen, dead or alive.

Unbelievable.

There are two sorts of reporters in Lebanon, Mr. Bassem Mroue, and neither takes pictures of Hezbollah gunmen, dead or (especially alive).

Western/non-Muslim journalists don't do so because Hezbollah threatens to kill them if they do.

Islamic journalists don't do so either, but no threats are needed, because you're on board with the program.

More Sullivan Bashing: Check Out All The Evidence Against the SkyBombers
— Ace

Allah sent me this; JackStraw sent it to me earlier for another purpose. I'll get to the second purpose in a moment.

On the evidence:

MI5 agents secretly infiltrated a bomb factory and found liquid explosives and detonators weeks before they foiled the plot to blow up America-bound passenger jets flying from British airports.

...

The high-risk strategy which allowed the terror plot to almost reach fruition - potentially putting civilian lives at risk - is understood to have been discussed with the Prime Minister and by the Government's crisis management Cobra committee.

...

Hours of tape recordings, photographs and video are now likely to be used as evidence against the men if they are charged for their part in the alleged plot.

Tiny eavesdropping devices picked up conversations involving various members of the suspected terrorist gang as they put the finishing touches to their plans to blow up a series of commercial flights over the Atlantic.

During months of careful work, the specialists are understood to have managed to get inside the gang's bomb-making factory - giving final confirmation that the plotters were indeed planning mass murder.

...

Intelligence sources last night indicated that some of the bomb-making chemicals and equipment being used by the gang had been seen 'in situ' but could not be removed or replaced without raising suspicion.

Seems like the Brits have gone to great lengths to frame these guys just to make sure an American Senator they've barely ever heard of wins in a campaign he was already likely to prevail in, doesn't it?

On to the second purpose of this article. JackStraw points out that the left claims the British did their wiretapping and bugging right, because they "sought warrants first, as the law demands."

But what kind of warrants?

"To install an eavesdropping device in a target's home we need to apply to the Secretary of State for a warrant under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) to authorise the intrusion on the privacy of the target."

It adds: "In most cases we must also apply for a 'property warrant' under the Intelligence Services Act 1994 to authorise any interference with the target's property necessary to install the device covertly.

"As with interception, we must convince the Secretary of State that what we are proposing to do is both necessary and proportionate."

Note that when bugs are being planted inside the area afforded the greatest amount of privacy protection -- the home -- the "warrant" required is a warrant not from an independent judge, but from a member of Tony Blair's government, his Secretary of State. (A position I confess sounds American, but I imagine the UK Telegraph knows what it's talking about.)

How, exactly, is this different than Bush's Attorney General issuing similar warrants on his own authority? That's provided for in the Patriot Act, or at least was, before liberals went after it. (I confess I don't know if that's still permitted or not.)

So: Yes, the British did a nice job. Using tools that the American President doesn't have any longer, or, if he does still have them, were strenuously opposed by liberals.

And bugging a home is a big step up from the less-invasive practice of tapping a phone line, which doesn't require entry into the home, but the tapping of a common-carrier phone line the user doesn't own.

Weekly Giuliani Pimping
— Ace

Via Allah. Worth a read. If you support him, you'll love this; if you're agin 'im, you'll want to know the World of Giuliani Hurt you're about to enter.

A question that always comes up is: "Do voters know he has (previously) taken liberal stances on certain hot-button issues? Do they know about his divorces? Etc.?"

This poll would seem to indicate voters do, in fact, know all these things. They rate him as the most moderate presidential candidate, and, in fact, three percent (whatever that means) to the left of center.

Which is bullshit, I think, and will be even more bullshit when he walks back some largish cats on gay marriage and guns as 2008 approaches.

Still: the public has processed this information, and they still like him.

And of course Giuliani continues to be one of the top choices, if not the top choice, among Republicans in polls as well.

Not just fakey interent polls like Instapundit runs; clearly, Giuliani is popular in the dextrosphere. But in legitimate scientific randomized phone polls, too.

It can happen.

It's not inevitable, of coruse, and many of you may not like him; but for those who are inclined to support him, except for the fact you think he cannot win the Republican primary: He can.

It'll be tricky, but he can.

Full Disclosure: I once got to shake his hand at Ground Zero on the anniversary of 9/11.

It was magical.

No, it wasn't magical. But it was pretty cool.

Good firm grip, polite, seemed like a natural on the hustings. He grabbed my girlfriend away from me and banged her in a supply closet, but I've never begruged him that.

Department Of Homeowner Security
— Ace

matt.gif

Otherwise the cat could be humiliated. Thanks to Craig. Cartoon from the UK Telegraph.

ConservativeHome also has the story of Tory leader David Cameron rebuking Tony Blair for not doing enough to stamp out Islamic extremism. Also from the Telegraph:

David Cameron broke ranks with the Government over terrorism yesterday, accusing Tony Blair of not doing enough to fight Islamic extremism or protect the nation's security.
...

After meeting senior members of his shadow cabinet, Mr Cameron praised the police and security services for thwarting the "deeply shocking" but "not surprising" plot by "alleged British-born Islamist terrorists".

But he said: "I do not believe that our Government is doing enough to fight Islamist extremists at home or to protect our security."

...

Mr Cameron called for anti-terror laws to be better enforced and "strengthened where necessary, so suspected terrorists and those that incite them are prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned - or, where appropriate, deported".

He questioned why so few Muslim "preachers of hate" had been prosecuted or expelled, and why so little had been done to use the existing law to deal with the radicalisation of British-born Muslims.

I hate to use an American liberals' argument against Bush against Tony Blair, but it does appear that Tony Blair has been quite good on fighting the war on terror abroad, but not very serious about fighting it at home.

It was only recently, for example, that the vile Finsberg Mosque hate-preacher Captain Hook was jailed or deported (forget which).

Practice Arguing With Liberals
— Ace

Tip/Warning: When you're done with your session, enter either "9/11" or "9/11 truth."

But wait until you've had enough fun with the thing.

...

From Sean Gleeson, who also brings the hhoot with a story of "three hours of tender intercourse."

And I got that via Don Luskin's Conspiracy to Keep Your Poor and Stupid, which, quite frankly, doesn't seem to be the sort of conspiracy he should be bragging about. He finds libertarian samizdat messaging in Deadwood.

David Milch, the series producer, who, by the way despises David Caruso, says Deadwood is one of the most popular shows in Britain (and secured record $$$ for airing in the UK) because the British see it as a vicious critique of America.

I don't think he's really writing it that way. The way he said it, "They think it's an attack on America," had a bit of the twinkle of getting away with something to it.

BREAKING: London To DC Flight Diverted Due To "Dangerous Situation"
UNBREAKING: Seems Like An Overeaction; Initial Reports May Be Largely Wrong

— Ace

Update: Read the link below all the way through to get to current state of play. It appears to be little more than claustrophobia and, well, just being an asshole. How that stuff about the notes got out is unclear.

A woman with a screwdriver, vaseline (?), matches, and two notes, one in English, one in Arabic. The note purportedly references Al Qaeda, or is actually from Al Qaeda.

I question the timing of Andrew Sullivan's questioning of the timing.

It's like he's a Rove plant, jumping on the question-the-timing insanity just in time to discredit it.

I always thought he was a huckster. Is he playing a double-game of hucksterism?

A Muddle, But Appears Harmless: From Allah, quoting The Blotter.

Police at Logan Airport tell ABC News that a full search is underway of the passenger jet. The female passenger who originally aroused suspicions has already been searched, and so far authorities have recovered a bottle of petroleum jelly, a bottle of water and literature in what appears to be Arabic but could turn out to be another language. A translator has been summoned to determine language and contents.

A senior homeland security official in Massachusetts tells ABC News that so far neither a screwdriver nor a note referencing al Qaeda has been found contrary to previous media reports.

Now comes the lecturing and hectoring about "overreactions" and "anti-Muslim backlash."

Root causes, baby. We wouldn't overreact if you weren't always trying to murder us.

You must understand the non-Islamic point of view.

Which is, basically: Stop trying to kill us.
