Bill Clinton: climate change to be new engine of jobs creation
— Purple Avenger

Looks like everyone is in line for a career change soon.

...Clinton, a master of persuasion, said, "There has to be a good new source of jobs every five to eight years to avoid a stagnant economy, and climate change is it."

He added that, with a bit of investment, climate change was a "phenomenal opportunity to develop poor countries." Ethiopia was considering investing in growing cane for biofuels, he noted, a path that has already brought great profits to Brazil.

Ummm Bill, what about all that vanishing rain forest that sucks up CO2 like a sponge?

San Diego fire due to power lines...NOT global warming
— Purple Avenger

SDG&E obviously didn't get the memo from Harry Reid.

SAN DIEGO -- California's state fire agency said Friday that sparking power lines ignited the largest of the wildfires that ravaged Southern California last month. The fire killed two people, burned more than 300 square miles and destroyed more than 1,000 homes...
But global warming is a sneaky bitch, still too soon to let her off the hook IMO. After all, she caused me to get a flat tire yesterday. Screwing with power lines is definitely well within her powers.

Robert Novak: Hillary Clinton’s ‘Agents’ Are Peddling Potential Obama Scandal (UPDATED: Hillary Hits Back)
— DrewM.

The Prince of Darkness says people close to Hillary have some dirt on Obama but aren’t saying what it is.

Allah speculates it could be stories of past drug use or less likely, the big sex scandal the LA Times was supposedly sitting on. There have also long been stories about Obama’s financial dealings with indicted Chicago businessman Tony Rezko.

Sex, drugs and money. Well, Hillary sure doesn’t want to bring 2 of those 3 up, given her own issues in those areas.

Meanwhile, Obama says, bring it on bitch…

"But in the interest of our party, and her own reputation, Senator Clinton should either make public any and all information referred to in the item, or concede the truth: that there is none.

"She of all people, having complained so often about 'the politics of personal destruction,' should move quickly to either stand by or renounce these tactics.

"I am prepared to stand up to that kind of politics, whether it's deployed by candidates in our party, in the other party or by any third party.

Hillary! will inevitably say something to the effect of, “Moi? Dirt? Why, I would never do such a thing and am shocked you would even think I would”.

So, did this thing just get interesting or does everyone simply blame it on Novak, get in a few Valerie Plame references and move on? Personally, I don’t think Obama has the guts or temperament to play hardball with the Clintons. Still, if the Hillary camp is shopping this around, they really are worried about the her performance over the last two weeks and the drop in her poll numbers in N.H. and Iowa.

Hillary as the nominee? Likely? Yes. Inevitable? Um, not so much.

UPDATE:
Below the fold, Hillary's Spokesman fires back more...

World's Greatest Liar?
— Dave In Texas

John "Johnny Liar" Graham wins the annual competition at the Bridge Inn, with a tall tale about stumbling across a German U-Boat preparing a raid to steal digital television converters.

That's the best lie in this year's competition? It doesn't even make any sense. Jon Lovitz was a better liar on SNL than this guy.

Those pikers don't even know what a good lie looks like. Any AoS moron could come up with a better story than that, knowing full well it has to contain at least some kernel of truth to be a good lie (Jack M.'s absurd claims about Baskin Robins and Ms. Sena is a noteable exception to this rule but I digress).

I say we are much better liars than these so-called "contestants", and you morons are more than up to the challenge. Spin your tales in the comments thread, fabulous prizes await.

Ok, I lied about the prizes.

UPDATE: Morons step up.

AoS Moron responsible for Truther movement

"No, no, no," I insisted, trying not to laugh. "Those weren't the real planes. Those were fake planes or something. Maybe they had bombs on board, man."

And the moron fell for it, hook, line and sinker. Unfortunately, he had access to email and a blog, and sent the word out about the "truth" while we were still drunk. So the whole 9/11 truth thing, and the reason is sounds like it was dreamed up by a drunken idiot. . . well, now you know why.

College Football Rivalries Are Heating Up! [eddiebear]
— Open Blog

Starting this weekend, the college football rivalries are really heating up. Tomorrow is the Ohio State-Michigan game, which is one of the biggest of them all. Along for the ride are Texas-Texas A&M, Alabama-Auburn and the grandest of them all, Army-Navy.

But amazingly, probably the rivalry game with the biggest impact on the National Title scene will take place in Kansas City, where Missouri and Kansas will play with the Big XII North title probably at stake.

How heated is this rivalry? Well, if the t-shirts are any clue, this is pretty intense. Usually, this game is meaningless, as both teams have usually been awful. But this year, a good old-fashioned hate is brewing, and it will keep everybody warm for at least two weeks.

God bless college football!
