— DrewM. You may remember Kayla Ebbert who was told to cover up while flying on Southwest Airlines earlier this year. Well, in one of the more predictable turns in the story, she is going to appear in nude in Playboy.
But don’t worry, apparently the pictures are quite tasteful.
Playboy contacted Ebbert's attorney to pitch the idea of posing. After "a little bit of talking" to convince her mother, Ebbert agreed. She said her boyfriend supported her decision, but "the most hesitant one was my dad."… Ebbert worked at a Hooters in San Diego but said wants to become an attorney, and doesn't think posing nude should get in the way of her professional aspirations.
"This was beautiful and classy. I don't see why it would affect a professional position," she said. "I'd do it again in a heartbeat."
From Hooters to Playboy to a lawyer, Kayla truly is living the American dream.
UPDATE: [Dave in Texas] From Cuffy Meigs, links to some of Kayla's latest business endeavors. I haven't seen them, but the link to him is reasonably safe, after that we are advised not so much for work. Have fun.

— Slublog Sheesh.
After the last debate, some of the writers in NRO's Corner were the only ones who thought Hillary Clinton won, and it took them awhile to acknowledge that her answer on illegal immigration had hurt her.
Now they're saying there's nothing to see here. The "Hillary falters storyline?" Done.
Right.
There are absolutely no ongoing stories that still have the potential to hurt Hillary Clinton. Her campaign is operating on all cylinders and not making any mistakes whatsoever. After all, she's got this election in the bag. Nope...no problems on the horizon at all.
From what I've seen, the Clinton campaign successfully neutered the Wolf last night. The mainstream media today is going to be full of stories about how all of Hillary's problems are behind her and she's going full-speed ahead for the nomination. They've managed to successfully ignore the fact that most Americans don't think she's being unfairly treated and that Obama is creeping up in Iowa. We all knew the media was going to do this. It's what they do.
But does the conservative media need to join them and echo the talking points sure to come? I think the NRO-niks are correct in saying Hillary would be the best of a bad lot, but does that really obligate them to say "everything is back to normal?"
Sheesh.

Update: 87 people have voted on the Fan Club Logo. 67 percent say "It rox" while the rest say "it sux"
This is by no means the final design. When I came up with it I wanted to combine three AoSHQ themes: The Black Flag, The Flaming Skull and the Death card.
The font is the same as on the website banner.
Please continue to vote and leave suggestions.
Last thing: All the polls I have running on the site are messing with the back button functionality. It appears to be blogger/Google issue. So I apologize.

— Dave In Texas ..when a group of men went on a business trip to a city steeped in sex and behaved inappropriately with scantily-dressed buxom women.
That might well be the first time. The second time, I was a perfect gentleman. Kept my hands in my pockets the whole 37 seconds.
I think "steeped in sex" is a charged expression.

— Gabriel Malor CNN will be showing tonight's Democratic Debate starting at 8pm Eastern. If there is any interest in discussing, feel free to use this open thread.
I will be watching the debate starting about halfway and catch the part I missed when it reruns later. I can't say that I'll liveblog it, but I'm sure some parts will merit comment.
Slate has a debate drinking game here. It's not very funny. Okay, it turns out that was from 2003. Wow, am I tired.
If you watch, keep an eye out for "ganging up on the poor, defenseless woman." Also, keep an eye on Blitz to see if he's asking tougher or easier questions than usual.
Update [Ace]: Wolf Blitzer is asking about driver's licenses now. Obama rejects the question, and says we can't keep being "distracted" by issues like this but then offers a "Yes" when pressed.
Edwards: Blah blah blah we need comprehensive immigration reform. Says "no" but promises amnesty so that today's illegals will be tomorrow's legals.
Dodd: Wants "clarity" and wants to "discourage" illegal immigrants, as it's an inducement to come to America as an illegal worker.
Senator Clinton: "No." That's the entirety of her quote. As they always say at that moment in a movie about Artificial Intelligence when the computer begins devouring every single work of literature and science in history, It's... learning...
Kucinich: There are no illegal human beings, they're undocumented. Dodges question. Even he dodges the question. Just keeps insisting we need a parthway to citizenship.
The Fat Rumpled Hispanic Guy Who Looks Like He's Perpetually On The Edge of Death From Sexual Asphyxia: Yes, and I did it, and it's just swell.
Biden: "No." And, get this, looks smug as he's saying it, if you can conceive of such a thing.
Good, so that's done, now I can watch CSI. Whoo-hoo! Sarah Sidle's last show, I hear. Can't wait to be done with her. I hate the way she does that fakey-British inflection at the end of her sentences and questions.
Another Hillary Dodge: Asked straight up if she supports merit-based bonuses to teachers for outstanding work -- which we can divine from her response is opposed by the teachers' unions -- she answers "I support school-based merit pay," by which she just means bonuses for teaching in places people don't like to teach, like the inner city.
The answer is intentionally deceptive, of course. Idiots -- like, for example, Democratic primary voters -- will assume from that she does in fact support this merit pay system described by Blitzer.
She answered "Yes" when the answer was really "No."
UPDATE: [Dave in Texas]
Don't watch this in HD.
Trust me.

— Ace (That headline should get a few google hits.)
When helping out Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina:
One guy was photographed "caressing the breasts" of Hooters waitresses brandishing "shotguns, sub-machine guns and other weapons."
Bunk.
There are actually calls to disband the SWAT team over this.
Indeed. Surely this must be the first time in history when a group of men went on a business trip to a city steeped in sex and behaved inappropriately with scantily-dressed buxom women.
There is a bit more to the story. There are claims that the commanding officer is/was an "unabashed white supremacist" and wore a napkin like a KKK hood. As to the former, I have no idea, but he does seem to have done the latter.

— Ace Kind of funny seeing the WaPo's "Rules For Blogging." Most of it's just common sense. Other stuff is dumb.
I think the only rule I gave people was No explicit hardcore gay porn, unless it's "story related" or "ironic" or "really hot."
Thanks to nordbuster.
More [Dave in Texas]: You also said no pool blogging, but I think that was just for me.

— Gabriel Malor Secretary of Defense Gates says the Democratic efforts to force a withdrawal are complicating his efforts to actually win the war. This week, the House approved funding for only three more months of war in Iraq. The Senate is considering the bill now.
This does not seem like a smart way to pay for a war:
"It seems to me that there ought to be some deference to those who are running the war, the generals, in terms of whether it's at the pace at which this draw-down should take place and based on the conditions on the ground," he said.Gates said the 50 billion dollars approved by the House would last only until February.
He said the army is making preparations for furloughs of an estimated 200,000 civilian employees and defense contractors to free up money for operations.
Senate Majority Leader Reid says that if the Senate does not approve the House bill, Democrats will refuse to spend any further money on the war at all this year.
I'm not sure what's changed that Reid thinks this will work now, when he was afraid to do it back in July while we were actually in the lowest of the low spots when it comes to Iraq. Suddenly we're seeing progress and that makes Democrats very anxious to see it ended before public opinion sways again.
More: From the AP:
Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday that unless Congress passes funding for the Iraq war within days, he will direct the Army and Marine Corps to begin developing plans to lay off employees and terminate contracts early next year....he said that he is faced with the undesirable task of preparing to cease operations at Army bases by mid-February, and lay off about 100,000 defense department employees and an equal number of civilian contractors. A month later, he said, similar moves would have to be made by the Marines.

— Dave In Texas Hundreds of bottles of my close personal friend Mr. John Daniels may be destroyed, some of them almost 100 years old. Apparently because it was being sold by an unlicensed distributor and may be stolen.
Tennessee law requires officials to destroy whiskey that cannot be sold legally in the state, such as bottles designed for sale overseas and those with broken seals."We'd pour it out," said Danielle Elks, executive director of the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
One of the bottles dates back to 1914, and has an unbroken seal. Elks said it could be worth $10,000.
Pausing for a moment, must refocus.
If the law requires that the whisky be destroyed, then I say the law is an ass.
That's what I say.
