— Purple Avenger Projecting more than pontificating, Frank Rich has declared us all to be in a state of "clinical depression".
...Wrong track is a euphemism. We are a people in clinical depression. Americans know that the ideals that once set our nation apart from the world have been vandalized, and no matter which party they belong to, they do not see a restoration anytime soon...Rich nougaty stick to the roof of your mouth BDS in glorious full bloom. I think I'm going to start loading up on Schick stock. Gonna be a real run on razor blades at the NYT any day now.

— DrewM. I was originally thinking about posting a couple of stories this weekend about modern day military heroes. You know the folks the legacy media never seems to find time for, what with their being so busy with stories of ‘war crimesÂ’ and defeat. But quite frankly, there are far too many good stories out there for a couple of blog posts. Fortunately, others have handled it far better than I ever could, so I am posting some links to their work.
Chuck Simmins at Northshore Journal has a great run down of unsung heroes from Afghanistan and Iraq. He also has a section dedicated to the three men who have been awarded the Medal of Honor in the Global War on TerrorÂ…Army Sgt. First Class Paul Smith (Iraq), Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham and Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy.
Blackfive’s ‘Someone You Should Know’ series is simply an incredible resource if you are interested in a personal look at some amazing men and women.
Matel-in-Iraq (the career Foreign Service Officer who told his complaining colleagues about serving in Iraq) has an interesting perspective on being a civilian but living around and working with todayÂ’s military.

— DrewM. Looks like the Saturday night box office estimates are in and while Lions for Lambs basically doubled its take from Friday, $6.7 million in box office is only good for 4th place.
A distant 4th place: Bee Movie grossed $26 million, American Gangster $24 million, and Fred Claus $19 million.
Memo to HollywoodÂ…we donÂ’t hate America as much as you do. Want to make some money? Make a movie where Americans are the good guys and the terrorists are the bad guys. ItÂ’s not like thereÂ’s a shortage of stories that fit the bill.

— DrewM. Have at it morons.
My guess is the smack talk won't really get started until this afternoon's marquee match up...Giants v. Cowboys. Two teams with such wonderfully sophisticated fans.

— LauraW. I don't know how many of you have tried this stuff. Last year they made a Turkey and Gravy soda for Thanksgiving that was revolting. So I heard.
The Christmas pack will feature such flavors as Sugar Plum, Christmas Tree, Egg Nog and Christmas Ham. The Hanukkah pack will have Jelly Doughnut, Apple Sauce, Chocolate Coins and Latkes sodas, the company said in a statement Friday.
Pine tree soda will undoubtedly taste like floor cleanser.
But that jelly doughnut soda doesn't sound too bad. I'd give that a whirl.

— LauraW. Trying to sell classified docs to the Russians.
The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that MI5 now believes there are 30 intelligence officers working "under cover" in the Russian embassy who are trying to steal Britain's military and political secrets.A document, circulated to British military bases three weeks ago, states: "It is all too easy to overlook the threat from espionage that this country faces. The activity by the Russian Intelligence Services - External Intelligence Service (SVR) and the Military Intelligence Service (GRU) - is as extensive now as at any time during the Cold War.
Just like the good ol' days.
Let us also extend our Best Wishes to our friends in the UK on this Remembrance Day.

— DrewM. It seems only appropriate that the most profane and best conservative blog offer birthday wishes to the only branch of the US Military formed in a tavern.

Mrs. Greyhawk has more at MilBlogs. And don’t forget Project VALOUR-IT.
