— Purple Avenger Planted softball questions during Q&A in Iowa.
...After her speech, Clinton accepted questions. But according to Grinnell College student Muriel Gallo-Chasanoff ’10, some of the questions from the audience were planned in advance. “They were canned,” she said. Before the event began, a Clinton staff member approached Gallo-Chasanoff to ask a specific question after Clinton’s speech. “One of the senior staffers told me what [to ask],” she said...Hillary really doesn't need to do much to get the nomination - not fuckup, keep a lid on past scandals, and don't say anything too stupid. That's about it. There seems to have been a rash of unforced errors lately though that makes me question the wisdom of her campaign management. If these sort of "incompetence eruptions" continue, Obamesiah might have an outside long shot chance since Hillary's support has always been considered "soft".

— Purple Avenger This guy is is a defacto terrorist sympathizer.
..."World War II was hugely romanticized in terms of its fiction," Bochco says. "There were unambiguous villains, and the feeling we were fighting the right people over the right issues, as opposed to this war, which many people feel is misguided...What pray tell does this fucktard find "ambiguous" about blowing up packed markets, school children, chopping heads, etc? Why are the perpetrators of such atrocities NOT the "right people" to have our armed forces engage, and why the fuck is this NOT the "right issue"?
You want to know why Over There was a bomb Steven? It was a bomb because your morally devoid terror-sympathetic mindset couldn't possibly write something that would appeal to the population in general. Piss be upon you and I hope everything your fetid black hearted hand touches in the future becomes a bomb too.

— DrewM. Sunday is Veterans Day and Monday will be a holiday for many but before everyone heads out for the long weekend, I wanted to suggest that you consider supporting the Valour IT project. As you can see from the graphic on the headlines bar, they are behind what they had hoped to raise this year.
In case you donÂ’t know about the project, you can learn more at their site but hereÂ’s the history of the project.
(Voice-Activated Laptops for OUR Injured Troops) In memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss
Project Valour-IT began when Charles "Chuck" Ziegenfuss was wounded by an IED while serving as commander of a tank company in Iraq in June 2005.
During his deployment he kept a blog (an online personal diary, opinion forum, or news analysis site-called a milblog or military weblog when written by a servicemember or about military subjects). Captivating writing, insightful stories of his experiences, and his self-deprecating humor won him many loyal readers. After he was wounded, his wife continued his blog, keeping his readers informed of his condition.
As he began to recover, CPT Ziegenfuss wanted to return to writing his blog, but serious hand injuries hampered his typing. When a loyal and generous reader gave him a copy of the Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred software, other readers began to realize how important such software could be to CPT Ziegenfuss' fellow wounded soldiers and started cast about for a way to get it to them.
A fellow blogger (blog author) who writes under the pseudonym FbL contacted Captain Ziegenfuss and the two realized they shared a vision of providing laptops with voice-controlled software to wounded soldiers whose injuries prevented them from operating a standard computer. FbL contacted Soldiers Angels, who offered to help develop the project, and Project Valour-IT was born.
Since that initial laptop was created over 1,500 laptops have been given to wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines to help them in their recovery.
It seems Veterans Day is an ideal time to give a little to help those who have given so much for us all.
Bumped [Gabe]: Because I made fun of Drew earlier and I don't want to feel like an ass. And because I suspect (but am not sure) that Jack bumped his victory poem (which is actually one of his better efforts) ahead of this post.

— Gabriel Malor Newsbusters is counting.
It's difficult to tell what Newsbusters wants from CBS. Impartiality? The same attack on Clinton that they'll make on Giuliani? I want a pony.
The CBS Evening News has apparently done only one "full" Norman Hsu story in the months since he became news (no word on what "full" means, but it sounds a little iffy to me). Somehow CBS has managed to mention Rudy Giuliani and Bernie Kerik in two "full" stories about how the indicted former police chief will affect Giuliani's presidential chances.
Back on August 31, in the newscast's only full story on Hsu, fill-in anchor Harry Smith didn't even mention Hillary Clinton's name in his introduction, but on Friday Katie Couric put Giuliani front and center: “Kerik isn't the only one who could face trouble. It's also bad news for his friend and mentor, Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani.”
So CBS is pro-Clinton. Surprise me already. There are no politically conscious people left in this country who hear the name "Norman Hsu" and don't think of Hillary Clinton. The same goes for "Bernard Kerik" and Rudy Giuliani. They are an indelible part of the story; the real test is how the candidates act in response.
Clinton has returned some of the money she acquired through Hsu's efforts, apologizing for not performing a reasonable investigation into the source of the money. Giuliani has also apologized, but for him he's apologizing for not digging up Kerik's tax omissions and discovering that Kerik was involved in bribery and obstruction of justice...–wait. How was Giuliani to know that Kerik wasn't reporting income to the IRS?
What's certain is that Newsbusters wants their Republican readers to be outraged. I'll tell you what will really outrage me: I'm never going to get a pony.

— DrewM. It looks like the blogs will have to do the job that the legacy media refuses to do.
On this Veterans Day weekend, take a moment and think about men like Army First Lt. Walter B. Jackson, recipient of the nationÂ’s second highest award the Distinguished Service Cross for actions in Iraq. To date he has received no significant media coverage:
Lt. Jackson was engaged in combat operations with his unit against insurgents and while he attempted to recover a disabled vehicle, his unit came under heavy machine gun fire, which resulted in several Soldiers being wounded. As he applied first aid to a severely wounded comrade, he too was shot in the thigh.Lt. Jackson’s citation in part reads: “Upon regaining consciousness after being shot, second lieutenant alternated between returning fire and administering first aid to the Soldier. Second Lt. Jackson was hit again with machine gun fire as he helped carry his wounded comrade to safety, but he never faltered in his aid. Although his own severe wounds required immediate evacuation and surgical care, 2nd Lt. Jackson refused medical assistance until his wounded comrade could be treated. Second Lt. Jackson’s selfless courage under extreme enemy fire was essential to saving another Soldier’s life and is in keeping with the finest traditions of military service…”
Before the presentation, Lt. Col. Thomas C. Graves, former Task Force commander, recounted part of that September 2006 day when he arrived at the medical aid station to see his wounded Soldiers and the first words to come from 2nd Lt. Jackson were of concern for the wounded captain heÂ’d rescued.
“All the leadership schools, classes and years of experience never really prepare you for that moment in time when you are standing among heroes who have given their all, where their first concerns still remain with their fellow Soldiers,” he said. “It reinforces duty and commitment unlike any other experience.”
More at AmericaÂ’s North Shore Journal.
Since this is Veterans Day weekend, I am thinking that if circumstances allow, I may post a few of these forgotten/ignored stories about today’s military heroes. I know Blackfive is a great source with their ‘Someone You Should Know Series’ but I’d like to find some other ones. If you have any thoughts, shoot me an email at Drewmtips (the little at thingy) gmail.com.
Also, take a look at the Project VALOUR-IT link in the headlines and consider making a donation over the weekend.

— Jack M. Much like Homer commemorated the Trojan Wars, I have set pixel to illuminated screen to commemorate AoSHQ's well-earned victory over the lesser bloggers of the Right.
Now, I know many of you sneer at my poems. That is fine. Genius is never appreciated in its time.
Still, as Conan once said, there is nothing better than "to crush Allahyour enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of Michelle Malkintheir women."
Which seems a little odd. I think even Rosetta could take that O'Brien fellow. How the hell does he get away with talking like such a tough guy?
Your poem awaits below.....(Special bonus points if you can ID the Dylan tune I ripped off derived inspiration from).

— DrewM. How long have we been hearing that we are going to run out of oil? Yes sir, any day now. Any. Day. Now. Just not today.
The Brazilian government says huge new oil reserves discovered off its coast could turn the country into one of the biggest oil producers in the world.Petrobras, Brazil's national oil company, says it believes the offshore Tupi field has between 5bn and 8bn barrels of recoverable light oil.
A senior minister said Brazilian oil production had the potential to match that of Venezuela and Saudi Arabia
Clearly this doesn’t call for cowbell but since this is the Best Conservative Blog, below the fold you will find an in depth analysis of how invading Brazil to steal their oil will be a very different case than Iraq and why the US military is already working on the necessary plans.
