Quote of the day [McGurk]
— Open Blog

"We've come too far as a progressive, forward-thinking community to let a legal technicality stand in our way," -- Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson

Who exactly thought it would be a good idea to give these people power and money?

An Ordinary Miracle
— Dave In Texas

Except it's not.

It is rather an extraordinary example of love.

Maj. Scott Southworth, USArmy, adopts a son.

A child experiences snow for the first time in his life (come to Texas dude, we minimize it south of Abilene). He wants to be Spiderman. Not Aqua-Man.

Not Aqua-Man.

Massachusetts Already Out Of Money For Snow Removal?[eddiebear]
— Open Blog

Living in St.Louis, I am far removed from the interworkings of the Massachusetts Government. But seeing that the Commonwealth has already run out of money for snow removal, I must ask a few questions:
1) Last I checked, it snows a lot in the Northeast. Shouldn't the people who write the budget in that state prepare accordingly?
2) Who wrote this budget? Was it Romney or the new Governor, Deval Patrick?
3) Has this happened before?
4) Did the money that previously was slated for snow diverted elsewhere?

Just asking.

Green eggs and Huck [mesablue]
— Open Blog

On the stump in Iowa.

“Who is your favorite author?” Aleya Deatsch, 7, of West Des Moines asked Mr. Huckabee in one of those posing-like-a-shopping-mall-Santa moments.

Mr. Huckabee paused, then said his favorite author was Dr. Seuss.

In an interview afterward with the news media, Aleya said she was somewhat surprised. She thought the candidate would be reading at a higher level.

“My favorite author is C. S. Lewis,” she said.

Schooled by a seven year old. That's gonna leave a mark.

Speaking of little kids, how many five year olds could you take in a fight?

Fred's Holiday Message - [Liberrocky]
— Open Blog

Everyone should check out Fred's holiday message. It is very good, but I think that Fred really is as lazy as he is made out to be...he can't even bother to appear in his own holiday vid.

Fun With Internet Jihadis [Vinnie]
— Open Blog

Apparently, the owner of Muslim Videos dot com isn't too happy with us at the Jawa Report. Maybe it has something to do with having to find new servers. So he made a video expressing his frustration.

I had some fun with it, it's below the fold. more...

Mitt can't win the general? [someone]
— Open Blog

Don't we need a primary-season flame war thread tonight?

Well, maybe not. I'm sort of sick of it myself.

But Allah's got some interesting numbers up. Flame away, if you like...

The Arab World Meets The Western Canon (chad)
— Open Blog

If you are like me you believe that one of the most profound shaping influences of current Western Civilization is the Western Canon. Starting with the Epic of Gilgamesh, and encompassing the Bible, Rousseau, Smith, Locke, Mills and so on, these works lead to the development of thought encompassed in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Amazingly many of them have never been translated into Arabic.

The Abu Dhabi Cultural and Heritage Authority is attempting to change that with "Project Kalima" and I just can't believe that is going to make Al Qaeda very happy: more...

The New Age of Democrat Nothingness
— Dave In Texas

The newest MSM explanation for why the Congress didn't get shit done.

It was those cantankerous Republicans.

They stood in the way of real progress. Real change. CHANGE (big word right now in some circles).

Honestly. It wasn't Nancy's fault. Lord knows she tried. Those Republican bastards kept her down. Kept us from wrapping ourselves in the Age of Nancy.

The peace, and joy we would have shared.

She had hope, and, dare I say it (I dare!),

Spunk. She was spunky. For all America's children.

The spunkmeister shows us how it's gonna be
