Wow: Intelligence (Snicker) Analysts Threatened To Illegally Leak NIE If Bush Did Not Release It Publically (?)
— Ace

Update: Consider the source. This appeared on Think Progress, not the gold standard of sources. However, I find it plausible that these "heroes" are hooked into the nutroots and would brag about their victory.

That doesn't make this true. It just makes it plausible.

...

Update Updated: Bryan is reconsidering this. I did too once I checked out the sourcing. But I'm still not ready to say it's untrue. After all, it comes from a lefty blog, which, as the MSM teaches us, is a trustworthy source to cite.

But seriously, it does explain the surprise release of this rather neatly.

So yeah, the sourcing is sketchy, but I'm inclined to think (say 60/40) that the rumor is right.

...

Updated Update to the Update: Actually it seems to have originated with a very liberal guy who says he's a retired Air Force officer military intelligence officer and Green Beret. It's plausible (assuming he is what he says he is) he'd hear such a rumor from like-minded idiots in the intelligence (chuckle) services.

...

They were willing to go to jail, they said.

Fine. Then they're willing to be fired. And this is a firing offense.

Fire them. Let them sue, but let them sue removed from our sensitive intelligence apparatus. Get these arrogant insubordinate cunts out off my fucking payroll.

It's time for a Saturday Night Massacre. Not only did they turn in shoddy piece of hyperpartisan work written to force their policy preferences on the nation, but they followed that up by threatening to break the law if the President -- the elected President -- did not bow to their wishes.

Throwing them in jail isn't realistic, but Bush is truly a lame duck if he doesn't have the stones to fire a cadre of leftist apologists for Islamic radicals acting in such a brazenly insubordinate -- hell, coercive and blackmailing -- manner.

Fire them. Fire them all. Or strip them of their security clearances and keep them on salary, but in a new office tasked to the critical mission of tracking Canadian geese migration. Lock them away from every getting their hands on classified information to misuse, twist, cherry-pick and illegally conspire to reveal ever again.

As Keith "Bathtub Boy" Olberman might say: Get your house in order, Sir, or resign.

Thanks to CJ.

Club for Growth Gets in the Game
— Slublog

Allah says this ad will run in Iowa, South Carolina and nationally. And none too soon, it seems.

In a thread a few weeks ago, spongeworthy suggested joining and donating to the Club for Growth would be a great way to support conservative principles. Membership is free, and if they can help end the Huckabee boomlet, then it's worth taking the time to join.

Also... - Is it just me, or is Geraghty getting just as tired as I am of Huckabee's rapid-response team telling people Huckabee didnÂ’t really say what he said or mean what you thought he meant?

New Will Ferrell Movie
— Ace

Seems like a goofy remake of Slapshot, except with semi-pro basketball, less violence, and more bear attacks.

Thanks to Hot Air.

Finally
— Ace

Manolo's new Blue Suede Slingbacks -- For Men.

Ask most men what a slingback is, and you'll get a blank stare. Which makes sense. For years, the strappy shoe has lived in the women's department, far away from the sturdy soles and shiny wingtips of the men's floor.

Well, guys, listen up. There's a man who wants you to put on a pair slingbacks. And they're blue suede, open-toed, and cost about as much as a flat screen TV.

Expensive? Sure. But how much would you pay to avoid that awkward discussion when you tell your dad you're gay?

Thanks to dri.

A Hard Day
— Dave In Texas

Commenter polynikes suggested a post about this. Honestly, I didn't feel up to the task. It's big.

Sixty six years ago today, most of the Pacific fleet based at Pearl was aflame. Aircraft at Hickam, Wheeler, and other bases were smoldering wrecks. In Hawaii, we were struggling to treat the wounded, find and bury the dead, and wondering if assault ships were headed in. It was chaos, blood and pain.

Sixty six years ago today the rest of the nation was just awakening to the reality of what had happened.

attack.jpg

Confusion. Chaos. Death. And a nation slowly stumbled to its feet, to recover from the blow and face the reality that a world existed with enemies who weren't afraid of us.

This comparison is loathed by certain people. I have a message for them.

Fuck you very much.

trade_narrowweb__300x478,0.jpg

Confusion. Chaos. And death.

Six years ago, someone asked me on the morning of Sept. 11 if I had heard about the plane crash into the World Trade Center. I imagined a small plane off course. An accident. What else could it be?

And then the next plane hit.

Sixty six years ago today we were reeling. And facing the awful reality that at that time, an unknown number of us had perished in a calculated, planned attack. One that intended to kill as many as they possibly could. It took weeks to count the dead. More were dying while we counted.

Six years ago we were reeling. We had by now counted the dead.

It's not different. It's the same goddamn thing.

Obligatory: Moonbat Radio Host Arrested For Downloading Child Porn; Claims He Was Doing "Research" (With His Cock)
— Ace

Well! I've never heard that novel defense before!

Ward's attorney, Doron Weinberg, said Thursday that for the past three years, he and other attorneys have been trying to convince the federal government that Ward is not a sexual predator, that he was simply doing research for a book on hypocrisy in America and was not engaged in anything more.

"The government knows that Bernie was doing this for an investigation he was doing for a book," said Weinberg, who appeared in federal court as Ward's lawyer and arranged the posting of a $250,000 bail bond. "But the government believes he violated the letter of the law, and they have gone ahead and prosecuted him."

As part of the research for the book, Ward - a married father of four - downloaded a few images of child pornography, Weinberg acknowledged.

In a brief interview, Ward said he "thought it was time to expose the dirty secret of the Internet in a book."

I'm always curious what "research" these guys claim they're doing. What, precisely, are they looking to "research"? They can't imagine what child porn might look like?

To prevent further "mistakes" like this in the future, I'm going to tell them now what child porn looks like. I haven't seen it myself, but I'm reasonably confident this description will forestall the need for all further "research:"

1) There are children.

2) They are undressed. Their private areas are prominently displayed.

3) They are usually being violated sexually either by adults or other children.

So, you know, mystery solved. All you diligent child porn researchers are now perfectly well-informed about precisely what this whole mysterious "child pornography" deal is. You can stop searching the newsgroups for pictures and video now, as I've described for you in all relevant detail what you'll find if you look hard enough.

I didn't post this despite it being on Drudge and despite getting multiple tips because, well, who the hell is this guy? I have no idea.

The only thing even marginally newsworthy here is that his agent promptly went on the air and... blamed Bush for the arrest. Chilling his speech or something.

Penn State Assholes Dress Up As Virginia Tech Shooting Victims
— Ace

These costumes, in themselves, would be just college stupidity of a more callous nature than usual, but nothing to go crazy about. The thing about shock value comedy is that it occasionally does shock.

vt.jpgvt2.jpg

But...

What makes it worse is this sissy's attempt to defend himself by basically telling people offended by the costumes to suck it up. After all, it's no big deal; as he says, these were only 32 of 26,000 violent deaths last year. He offers no apologies, just attacks those who might find this in egregiously bad taste.

"Controversial"
— Ace

Also extraordinarily controversial, testing the outer limits of the FCC's permissiveness:

It's time to boycott NBC and every goddamn last one of its advertisers.

What's Not Controversial At NBC: David Shuster maligning all evangelical Christians as bumpkins who sing hoseannas at a revival meeting and then jet down to Gitmo "to torture people just for fun."
