Tigger Slaps A Punk
— Ace

Family says Tigger character at Disney slapped their kid.

Keepin' the pimp-paw strong.

Supposedly there's video there, somewhere, but the dumb links just keep bouncing me between articles that claim they have video but don't seem to.

Question: I'm not saying this happened, but wouldn't it make for a pretty easy lawsuit to walk into the park with a hidden Tigger costume and then have a stooge dress up as "Tigger" and slap your kid on video?

Or better yet, have henchmen dress up as the Country Bears and sexually assault your wife?

Just sayin' -- Crazy Disney money.

Stuck In My Head Since 3AM
— Ace

Woke up at 3, after falling asleep for once at a normal human time.

This song has been stuck in my head since I awoke. Why? I don't know. No idea where this came from.

Sorry.

Mystery Gas Stanks Up Midtown NYC
— Ace

Damn Chelsea homos:

- Authorities were investigating the source of a mysterious gas-like odor Monday that stretched across a large part of Manhattan, including Rockefeller Center.

The Fire Department began getting calls about the odor around 9 a.m. Monday, said spokesman Tim Hinchey.

Consolidated Edison was investigating, utility spokeswoman Joy Faber said.

Across the Hudson River, Jersey City, N.J., mayor's spokeswoman Maria Pignataro said officials there were told the odor was due to a gas leak in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood, just north of Greenwich Village.

"The smell was very strong. It was very scary," said Yolanda Van Gemd, an administrator at ASA, a business school near the Empire State Building that was evacuated as a precaution.

A reader at Park and fifty-something writes:

I'm here at my desk and the fire marshall just came over the loudspeaker telling us the "odor" is coming from outside the building.

There is an odor, not too bad, can't really compare it to anything. Not food.

...

It's sort of like gas but a bit different. Everyone is talking about it in my building but so far it seems to be benign. My wife tells me it's blowing over from Jersey City; officials say no evidence of terrorism. Probably nothing but as you can imagine it's just plain scary.

Indeed, probably nothing. Although the possibility that this has a brown-person origin just made me create my own noxious odors.

Huh. And all it took was decimating them militarily. Who knew?

Somalian Islamists belonging to the defeated Union of Islamic Courts say they want to negotiate a political settlement with the transitional Government of Somalia.

A spokesman for the Islamic Courts speaking from Yemen says the Islamists are determined to find solutions.

Three Middle Eastern Men Arrested At Miami Airport
— Ace

There's a video report at FoxnNews.

Florida Cracker is following it, as of course is AllahPundit.

One of the men is of Iraqi descent, another one is Lebanese. The driver of the truck seeking entry claimed he was the only man in the truck, but a search following his inconsistent answers turned up two more men in the cab. No explosives found in the truck, and the men are supposedly here legally.

So everyone's just trying to figure out what they were up to.

Video: GatewayPundit has an embedded video plus is updating.

Saddam's Co-Murderers To Be Executed "This Week"
— AndrewR

The Iraqi government is sticking to its guns:

The Iraqi government has said that the executions of two senior associates of former leader Saddam Hussein, will take place some time during the week.

This is despite an appeal from the new UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, that they should not go ahead.

Government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said the execution orders for Barzan al-Tikriti and Awad al-Bandar had been signed, and there was no way back.

Good for them.

Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti, Saddam Hussein's intelligence chief, and Awad al-Bandar, a former chief judge, were convicted along with Saddam Hussein for their part in the killing of 148 Shia Muslims in the Iraqi village of Dujail in the 1980s.

Let them bitch and moan. I don't agree with strict anti-death penalty advocates, but I can understand their position most of the time. But some crimes are just too large. There's a point at which enlightened compassion turns into narcissistic, masturbatory self-congratulation, and crying over thugs like these is surely it.

I Know How You Feel, Guys
— AndrewR

After its initial success, the Ethiopian army may be wearing out its welcome:

MOGADISHU, Somalia, Jan. 6 -- Hundreds of angry and fed-up Somalis demanded that Ethiopian troops leave the city Saturday, smashing cars, burning tires, and hurling stones and threats as a prevailing sense of insecurity deepened in the patched-together neighborhoods of Mogadishu.

A week ago there were stories about how ecstatic Somalis were taking off their veils, opening up the dance clubs again, and so forth (although not in Mogadishu itself). I guess the honeymoon's over.

Tensions are rising over the presence of the Ethiopian troops, who are perceived here as having U.S. backing and last week pushed out an Islamic movement widely credited with bringing security to the capital. Almost immediately after taking control, the ascendant prime minister, Ali Mohamed Gedi, announced that he would begin forcibly disarming Somalia's matrix of clans, whose members are accustomed to relying on their own stashes of AK-47 assault rifles for protection in a country that has been without a central government since 1991...Following the protests, Gedi said the disarmament would be postponed indefinitely.

Get out now, Ethiopia. Even if you have to invade again in six months, it'll be better than sticking around and trying to sort out this mess.

Trust me on this one.

Drudge Tease: Israel Has Drawn Up "Secret Plans" (Secret To Everyone Except Those Who Read Drudge) To Take Out Iran Nukes With Its Own Tactical Nukes
— Ace

Note the difference in the hype-headline and the slug above-- Israel has "drawn up plans" vs. Israel actually plans to do this.

There are "plans," somewhere, for the US to invade Britain, if necessary. Doesn't mean such an invasion is actually planned.

But it does seem to be some nuclear saber-rattling. But mostly aimed at the West -- i.e., America, Britain, Europe, get serious about this before our hand is forced and we do something very provocative indeed.

Thanks to Larwyn.

Playoff Picks
— Ace

If you want, I've started a playoff pick pool. Everyone starts with a 0-0 record.

No funky rules. Just pick all the games against the spread.

I doubt we'll have a "winner" any week -- just a lot of ties -- but still, if you want to show off your pigskin precognition, have at it. A points tiebreaker becomes pretty much a requirement to have any sort of weekly "winner" at all. Even with that-- there will be a lot of ties in such a big field.

The playoffs pool is at the same place, tailgatepools.com. It's named "HAMMERSLICE," which is also the join ID. The password is DICKCHENEY.

You have until around 4:30 to get in your pick for the first of the day's games.
