Brunner: Federal Law Requires Me To Have a System for Double-Checking Registrations in Place, But Does Not Actually Require Me to Double-Check Them or Use That System

So I won't.

Brunner's Tie to ACORN Official Raises New Questions

Project Vote director who advised Brunner allegedly worked with Obama campaign

(Columbus) - Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner's connection to a top ACORN official raises troubling new questions about her refusal to disclose at least 200,000 questionable voter registrations being held by her office.

An investigation into ACORN's alleged fraudulent election activity revealed on Wednesday that one of its national directors, Karyn Gillette, collaborated with the Obama campaign to raise funds for the group's voter registration efforts.

Gillette is identified on Jennifer Brunner's 2006 campaign website as a consultant to Brunner, and a blog entry filed by Brunner's husband Rick adds that "our candidate had gone earlier in the day to have some meetings and work out of Karyn Gillette's office." Rick Brunner also describes Gillette as "very helpful to the campaign."

According to campaign finance reports, Gillette, a longtime fundraising consultant to Ohio Democrats, was paid $21,250 by Brunner's campaign.

An ACORN whistleblower testified in a Pennsylvania state court on Wednesday that "in November 2007 Project Vote development director Karyn Gillette told her she had direct contact with the Obama campaign and had obtained their donor lists." Project Vote is the voter registration arm of ACORN. (Wall Street Journal, 10/29/0

"Jennifer Brunner's ties to a top ACORN official, who is also accused of collaborating with the Obama campaign, suggest she's orchestrating a cover-up to protect her friends," said Ohio Republican Party Deputy Chairman Kevin DeWine. "This group has publicly testified that it's members engage in fraudulent election activity, and at least one voter said he was persuaded by ACORN to cast a bogus ballot. It's time for Jennifer Brunner to stop the concealing the evidence and start restoring confidence in the integrity of Ohio's election."

Gillette is not Brunner's only tie to ACORN. Members of the group's voter registration arm, Project Vote, regularly advise Brunner on election strategy, previously serving on her Voter Rights Institute and even recently issuing a news release claiming credit for Brunner's directive banning challenges to suspected fraudulent voter registrations.

That's a press release, but I should note that Bonnie used her Google-Fu and sent me this tip an hour ago.

Nice, Bonnie.

Now This Ought To Be Interesting (Kat-Mo)
— Open Blog

First, we get Charlie Rangel writing the tax policy. Then we get Barney Frank telling us that the Democrats will eventually have to raise taxes on everyone and will cut defense spending by 25%.

Are you ready for this? Now we get Rahm Emanuel as the potential White House Chief of Staff.

Now that ought to be interesting. I thought Obama was hoping to make the rest of the world like us not become the laughing stock of the universe. But, heh, it would certainly provide for entertainment. At least, on the net. Otherwise, I imagine no one will be reporting on the four year comedy hour we're likely to get because...well...you know, it will be that word.

Erica Jong: "blood will run in the streets" if Obama loses
— Purple Avenger

Well...a thinning of the moonbat herd might not be such a bad thing. Of course an Obama loss will also spark a 2nd American civil war too...but we know how that would work out since its the right that has all the guns and its pretty dumb to bring paper mache heads and burning effigies to a gunfight.

...Basically, Jong says her fear that Obama might lose the election has developed into an "obsession. A paralyzing terror. An anxious fever that keeps you awake at night." She also says that her friends Jane Fonda and Naomi Wolf are extremely worried that Obama will be sabotaged by Republican dirty tricks, and that if an Obama loss indeed comes to pass, the result will be a second American Civil War...

Iran Threatens US with Suicide Bombers
— Ace

Link at Demure Thoughts, with additional thoughts about this tiny country which poses no threat to us.

Only a few days ahead of the American presidential election, Iranian parliamentary speaker 'Ali Larijani and Supreme Leader Ayatollah 'Ali Khamanai have launched harsh verbal attacks against the United States.

Referring to the US army's attacks in Pakistan and Syria, Larijani said they would not be answered with diplomatic protests.

"The US method and conduct, expressed by this aggression, will only be stopped by a clear-cut and unexpected response, whose grounds were set by the martyr Hussein Fahmida," Larijani said during a parliamentary session on Wednesday.

Fahmida was 13 when he detonated an explosive device he carried on him, destroying an Iraqi tank during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s.

"America should be aware not to put its huge body on top of the suicide bombers' explosive devices," Larijani said.

On the same day, Khamanai said the differences between Iran and the US were far beyond differences of opinion.

"The Iranian people hate the USÂ… [because of] the various plots the US government has hatched against Iran and the Iranian nation for the past five decades," Khamanai said.

The Supreme Leader added that any nation that would not honor Iran's identity and independence would have its "hands cut off."

Quick, let's have presidential negotiations without preconditions. They seem thisclose to offering us a sweet deal, if only we have the courage to ask them for it.

Thanks to Janet.

Backing Up Ace With Facts [Vinnie]
— Open Blog

First off, Ace, you don't suck, you blow. :-D

Anyway, I just wanted to link the original L.A. Times article referenced in Ace's link to Hillbuzz.

Sorry, I'm skeptical by nature (4 1/2 years of blogging does that to you when you've been burned before), and Hillbuzz didn't link the original story, so I figured I'd try to track it down. Make sure you screenshot or save it some other way before it goes down the memory hole.

So there ya go. Interesting now that they're stonewalling the release of that video with this posted on their website, eh?

Oh, minor bleg. If there's a Pshop guru out there that can make me a better Flaming Douche image, that would be awesome.

And moronizer gets his hat tip. I crashed before I read the comments on the Overnight Thread. Stupid day jobs.

A Credit Card Payment Expert Explains the Depths of Obama's Fraud
— Ace

It's amazing to me that I can get experts in the field composing essays to me, but the MSM can't manage to find a single expert to give a quote about this.

Beyond the first paragraph, he recounts his own easy-peasy false-name donation to Obama. That's old stuff you know about. I'm leaving it in because I think this guy wants a unified essay.

After he establishes his bona fides, skip to the bolded asterisk for newer stuff.

Since the media is having such a terribly difficult time of finding experts like this, I can offer his phone number to you to talk to him, on the off-chance you're interested. (And assuming he gives the okay, which presumably he would.) more...
