Obama Announces Mandatory Youth Corps?
— Ace

50 hours per year for high schoolers, 100 hours per year for college students?

What?

More: Heh -- violates the sacrosanct, age-old constitutional guarantee of a right to privacy?

I think the goal here, by the way, is to demand what will be claimed to be the moral equivalent of actual military service -- thus denigrating real service by claiming that working in a soup kitchen a weekend a year is no different than putting your life on the line for your country.

Obamabots have been fond of the chickenhawk argument for eight years.

Well, boys, now that your man is in charge, and he needs to deploy three brigades to Afghanistan (which you are presumably foursquare behind), seems like it's time to sign up. And don't give me that crap about "you don't get to choose where you serve" (the left's favorite dodge). For one thing, you do get high preference as to where you'll serve if you specifically ask for combat detail.

For another thing, the war in Iraq is winding down. We're pulling troops out there, not putting them in. Casualties were once again higher in Afghanistan than in Iraq.

So get thee to a recruiting station. We'll need even more courageous Terrorist-Fighters like you should The One ever make good on his promise of the Great Overmountain Invasion of Pakistan (which yes, you did support with your votes!)

And if you sign up now, you'll be getting out of basic training and advanced courses just around January 20th. Lucky you -- just in time!

Oh, wait-- that's right. You'll be serving your country by plucking litter from highways' shoulders.

So Obama's got you covered.

Why is it I get the feeling that Obama's wars will be fought by the same "48%" warmongers who fought Bush's wars, while you sissies smoke dope and take pictures of yourselves holding notebook paper?

Seriously... Since Obama is asking for so many changes, how about increased military service from those segments of the population which typically do not serve (i.e., many of his whitebread suburban white-collar voters)?

Or is that asking too much?

Nicole Wallace Makes Nice; Chris Wallace Insists Nicole Wallace is Innocent
— Ace

No relation between Chris Wallace and Nicole Wallace, by the way.

Given that Shuenemann specifically predicted Wallace and Schmidt would smear Palin after the election, and she has been so smeared, one has to wonder how one half of his prophecy came true if he was completely making shit up about the other half.

Bit more:

But the tension between the Palin camp and other GOP groups is likely to continue or get worse. Lawyers for the Republican National Committee are heading to Alaska to try to account for all the money that was spent on clothing, jewelry and luggage, according to The New York Times.

I've written two emails to the RNC -- one to the chairman, one to the internet outreach person -- and have not gotten any response on this. I was sent this tip yesterday, but wanted to hold off on this until I had comment from the RNC.

But apparently they still don't get this whole internet thing.

By the way, in case you had any doubt, this Africa/NAFTA crap is pure bullshit.

More: McCain's idiot phone guy is now apparently cracking. He was last heard yelling at another donor who called in.

Teacher Belittles Students Who Support McCain
— Ace

An elephant in the room: When will Barack Obama tell his most fervent supporters that they cannot use their jobs in state and federal government to unethically advocate for him, or to illegally dig up dirt on his opponents?

We've had some nasty examples of Obots who think this nation of laws not men has changed to a nation of A Man Not Law now that Obama's around.

Does Obama share this sentiment? Well, that's a trick question -- he does. But will he insist that even his most cultish devotees do their jobs and follow the law?

I don't think he will. He'll keep "accidentally" getting the benefit of the harassments they inflict on citizens who dissent.

Flashback: How the Old 48 Reacted in 2004
— Ace

Sorry, everybody. This message sent out to the world.

Of course the guy who started that site has a new message now.

There's a lot of narcissism on display here -- the apparent belief that showing one's face, radiating liberal goodness, can mollify a dangerous world, or (as in in the new 52 vs. 4 the same people they've spent eight years spitting venomous acid at.

Treacher... wants them to prove their newfound love.

More goofing.

Dick Armey on Squishy Conservatism
— Dave in Texas

Repeating several points made by Ace the other day, Armey says we're beat up, but we're not wrong. We lose when we don't embrace what we believe.

The liberal pundits who embraced the candidacy of Barack Obama are also eager to issue a death certificate for free market capitalism. They're wrong, and they remind me of what the great Willie Nelson once said: "I'm ragged but I'm right."

To be sure, the American people have handed power over to the Democrats. But today there is a categorical difference between what Republicans stand for and the principles of individual freedom. Parties are all about getting people elected to political office; and the practice of politics too often takes the form of professional juvenile delinquency: short-sighted and self-centered.

Too long, too many of us have complained that our party has cozied up to the wrong side of the argument just to win. That's how it felt to me. We wanted to win more than we wanted to lead. Time after time McCain pushed the wrong buttons on his base and went after the elusive "middle". We got smacked for it in 06, and we got smacked again on Tuesday.

From 48 to 52: Thanks, But No Thanks
— Slublog

As I noted the morning after the election, no matter how much I'm tempted, I'm going to avoid falling into the fever swamps of unbridled hatred the left has inhabited for the last eight years. I'm not happy about the election, but I'm not going to put a stupid "Not MY President" bumper sticker on my car. (A "Don't Blame Me...I Voted Red?" Maybe.)

So far, I've been successful in keeping the blood pressure down. Then I saw this site: From 52 to 48 With Love, in which the left, the same group of spoiled little brats that threw a full-throated temper tantrum after losing in 2004 now tell us that everything's okay because they finally got the kool-aid flavored lollipop they wanted.

As Treacher says
"There's nothing easier than telling the guy you just beat that he should forget the depths you plumbed to do so." Precisely. It's a nice sentiment, but maybe you should have thought of it before taking the time to make signs like this, or apologizing to the world because those mean nasty Republicans didn't let you win.

Sorry, folks. No frakkin' sale. We remember "Jesusland." And stuff like this. And if you have a few hours, scroll through Malkin's "Bush Derangement Syndrome" archive. We remember everything - being called racist warmongers, Christianist nutbags, racists, and all the rest of the vitriol you folks threw at us in your "AAAHHH CHIMPY MCBUSHITLER HALLIBURTON IS THE EVILEST" stage of political development.

You spent the last eight years engaged in a disgusting orgy of divisive political hatred and now you want to play nice and pretend we're all united now? I for one am not going to treat President Obama the way you treated President Bush. That doesn't mean, though, I'm going to just forgive and forget the fact that you've polluted the political landscape with your bile and patchouli-stanking spittle.

awwww.jpg

That sentiment would have come in handy while
American soldiers were fighting in Iraq, bub

Daley: Give Me Enough Money (Kat-Mo)
— Open Blog

You're going to love this. Chicago station speculates on the relationship and influence of the Daley Chicago political machine on Obama and the White House.

Daley, they say, has a whole host of projects and programs ready to go on day one as soon as the tap gets turned on. He states, "Give Me Enough Money" and I'll get going.

The station is good enough to give us some insights into Daley's father's relationship with LBJ and JFK. Including great tapes of Daley Sr. promising that certain congress people will vote however the president wants if they know what's good for them. Politically, that is.

Thanks America. We haven't had enough crooks in Congress. Now we get them hooked up with the Presidency.

You are some swell folks, I tell ya'.

You've Been Absolved (Kat-Mo)
— Open Blog

As we knew would happen, now that Obama has been elected president and the polls indicating voting for Obama pre-election match up closely with the actual votes, it now proves that there was actually no racial bias in the election.

Contrary to Barry O's claims.

Or, as noted, at least there is none now that Barry O's been elected.

Do you feel that? It's as if a great weight has been lifted off of our collective, white, redneck shoulders. I feel so light now. I can almost see the unicorns prancing in my backyard with little silver butterflies flitting from flower to flower.

Why, I think I could fly to the moon and back just on the utter joy emanating from the unicorn's ass.

These folks just never got it. Obama could have been the whitest albino with a pedigree back to the Mayflower and it wouldn't have mattered. He is so far left he almost makes Chavez look like a centrist. Certainly, a number of his associates and possible cabinet picks espouse ideas that should be making most American's shit a brick. Once everybody gets over the happy-happy, joy-joy of finally shattering any remaining myths about the great white bias in this nation and starts getting a good look at his policies, they might actually start wondering why the hell they voted for him.

His color was never a detriment, but an effective weapon to bludgeon his detractors with and too many people bought into that. The sycophant boot licking from the press just added to the entire distasteful episode.

You want some hope and change? I hope somebody goes around town and takes down all the giant posters of Obama, ripped off from Communist propaganda, that are staring down from half the buildings in KC and other cities.

Is this America or Venezuela?

It is not the man that is important, it is the office. It is not a political party that is important, it is the idea of governance for, of and by the people. In which case, we the people reserve the right to disagree vehemently with any policies that we deem a negative impact on our liberty, the United States or its allies. His color be damned.

Anyone have a problem with that?

Bite me.

Baldilocks Explains Political Decisions Based on Issues Rather than Skin Color to Foolish Obamaton Heckler
— Gabriel Malor

Most days, taking trolls seriously is an exercise in futility. But I love how Baldilocks took this one's racialist demand at face value. She responded with a lot more grace than I ever could if faced with an analogous question.

I'll get you started:

Uptownsteve asks:

What will you black conservatives tell your grandchildren?

It’s a question which I take to imply that, somehow, our grandchildren will presume to vilify us for voting against the man who will become the first black president of the United States. It’s a very easy question to answer, actually: we believe that political, social, moral and spiritual principles take precedence over ethnic tribalism and we followed through on that assertion. But I’m guessing that Steve needs things spelled out a bit more, so I’ll do it for him and for my great nieces and nephews and—perhaps—any grandchildren I might have through being a step-mother. Here goes.

Read the heckler's challenge and his later comments, then see what Baldi made of him. It's clear he doesn't even understand what she's saying, which is pretty sad for a supporter of the so-called "post-racial candidate."
