Sen. Menendez Threatens Cavuto with Fairness-Doctrine Exile?
— Ace

Bumped for the vid and correction. There doesn't appear to be any threat here. There is, however, an astonishing amount of stupidity, feigned or genuine, on display.

Vid: He makes the comment at the end of this exchange. He says "I hope you're not one of the anchors that winds up leaving," or words to that effect, which may be a reference back to the previous segment's fairness doctrine discussion, but I don't know, as I haven't seen that segment.

What I do know is that Menendez is odious or stupid here -- he claims that Barack Obama plans to keep the top marginal rate at the level Reagan had it at -- obviously untrue, as Obama wants to raise it to the 39.6% level under Clinton, and Regan had it at 28% -- and that he does not "recognize" the fact that half of the taxpayers Obama says he'll give a tax cut to do not pay income taxes in the first place.

I think he really might be stupid enough to not know these things, actually.

Too bad to check, as Allah says. I missed this myself and cannot vouch for it, but we need to be on the look out for confirmation and video.

Key quote, reportedly:

After several minutes of Menendez trying to give an Obama stump speech about Evil Business and how The One would destroy business "for the good of the middle class," Menendez finally lost that glassy smile and, as Cavuto gave him one more spanking on still another Obama idiocy, turned to Cavuto and said, "I hope you are not one of the ones forced off the air" (when we pass the Fairness Doctrine, which had been the previous topic).

Vid thanks to WilliamA.

Having Not Seen the Previous Segment... I have no idea what Menendez meant with his "hope you're not one of the anchors leaving" statement.

A reader says this did not refer to the fairness doctrine, which was not discussed, but to some joke Cavuto had made:

As mentioned previously, it was a joke based on something cavuto said earlier. when he himself made a joke about anchors being kicked off the air. When this guy said it I knew it was exactly a reference to the joke cavuto made earlier. There's no controversy here.

Joe Biden, God love him, he's been on a train, he once got knocked down in Scranton and then got up again.

My sister is smart, runs every one of my campaigns, is beautiful. Graduated with honors from college. Is homecoming queen, but shes a -- she is what I call a girl-boy growing up, you know what I mean? And I tell you what. Girl-girls are tougher than girl-boys. But there's one important thing I noticed.

the great thing about marrying into a family with five sisters, theres always one that loves you. Cause you can count on splitting them a bit. You know what I mean?

I shouldnt be going off like this, but...

What?

Sad.

I hope he doesn't attempt to make this some sort of campaign point, though.

In Case You Need Another Reason to Vote McCain (Kat-Mo)
— Open Blog

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the 29th anniversary of the beginning of the Iranian Hostage crisis.

444 Days [corrected] our hostages were kept, tortured, beaten and threatened with death. Starring none other than the current Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad.

The Iranians, of course, have already been celebrating the long awaited (and never to come) down fall of the United States today. Many huge crowds, burning flags, chanting death to America with signs proclaiming our alleged soon to be demise.

You need another reason to vote for McCain?

Saddam's "love boat" is up for auction by the Iraqi government.

Why? Because we kicked his ass.

Still need a reason to vote for McCain?

Bin Laden's Aide convicted at GUANTANAMO
in the second WAR CRIMES trial of conspiracy, solicitation to commit murder, material support of terrorism and multiple other counts.

Why? Because we kicked his ass.

If you are interested in continuing to take terrorist names and kick their asses while thwarting Iranian plans now and into the future (but I repeat myself):

Vote John McCain

We still have work to do

UPDATE: Former Hostage speaks in comments:

The day that Carter was defeated, one of the "students" couldn't wait to come into our cell to tell us.
Another Marine said, "You mean Reagan won?!?!"
"Yes." he said with a big humus-eating grin.
The other Marine and I looked at each other and said "Oooooooooooooooo" (the international sound for 'You are so %^(k#> dude!')
The student asked what the problem was at which point the other Marine walked right up to his face and made an explosion noise while miming a mushroom cloud with his hands.

Regardless of what Madeline Not-to-bright says, America's enemies are not always so eager to test a new president.

Charles Schumer Echoes Obama, Licks His Chops
— Ace

Major changes:

Americans can expect to see major changes “in issue after issue” in the Senate next year, says Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, reports CNSNews.com Staff Writer Josiah Ryan.

“I am really looking forward to the next session of Congress, because I think it’s going to be a groundbreaking session, and you are going to see significant change,” Schumer says. “As a legislator – and I have been a legislator for 34 years – I can’t think of a time that I have been more excited at the prospect of change.”

“It’s issue after issue,” said Schumer of the changes he plans if Democrats gain a filibuster-proof majority. “I think we will have a better policy on Iraq. I think we will have a better policy on energy. I think we will have a better policy on immigration. I think we will have a better policy on education. I think we will have a better policy on health care. It’s a huge list.”

I'll bet.

What to Expect Tomorrow [someone]
— Open Blog

(Posted and bumped with Ewok dispensation. Looks like the Dem fraud prediction is dead on. I'm heading out, so I'll probably miss the early exit poll frenzies. Get out the vote, and bag some trolls if you're here. And if you start to panic, read this.)

(All times Eastern)

1am: Overnight (11pm local time) McCain rally in Prescott, AZ.

6am: Polls begin opening for Election Day proper. Check your local jurisdiction for times.

~9am: Evidence of Election Day voter fraud by Dems (rigged machines, slashed tires, etc. etc.) starts trickling in. Media ignores it.

~Noon-2pm: First leaked exit polls purporting to show Obama up by 99 points in every state east of the Mississippi. Ace freaks out again. Axelturfers flood in.

1:45pm: Election Day morning (11:45am local time) McCain rally in Grand Junction, CO.

~3-5pm: Various and probably conflicting reports on turnout appear on teh internets. Ace has enough chemical assistance to calm down a bit.

~5-7pm: More baloney rumors of polls, exit polls, and projections. (Remember Zogby's 5pm call of a 311EV Kerry win?)

6pm: Polls begin to close in IN and KY (not completely, however).
7pm: Polls close completely in IN, KY, VA, SC, and GA. Media, based on horribly inaccurate exit polling and total bias, immediately calls Virginia for Obama.
(Note: If they immediately call Virginia for McCain, in all likelihood the race is over and we've won. Check the anchors' complexions... And if they start talking about how we're all racist.)

~7-9pm: Stories of long lines, disorder, and other excuses to keep polls open way late in urban areas of MO, OH, and other states appear. Media ignores cover for obvious fraud.

7:30pm: Repeat of 7pm with OH, WV, and NC. Again, in the unlikely event the nets are forced to call Ohio for McCain this early, it's over.

8pm: Repeat of 7pm with a whole bunch of states including PA, FL, and MO.

~9-10:30pm: Actual numbers (counted, not polled) start coming in for these early states. We begin to learn what's actually going on.

9:30pm: Obama's Grant Park riotrally officially opens its doors. Hundreds of thousands of shambling Obots rendezvous outside for worship, rage, and braaaaaaaaaaaaaains.

11pm: Last polling places in contiguous 48 states close. I'm already either really drunk (happily or miserably) or out of nails to chew off or both.

Bottom line: Don't forget that a shitstorm of bad data is going to be flung out by the media, Axelturfers, and Eeyores tomorrow. Don't trust anything you hear, good or bad, until real counts start to appear. Drive McCain supporters to the polls, and do any other GOTV that your local office has planned.

I Will Try Not to Freak Out [ace]: Should be easier to avoid freaking out, as I'm kind of prepared for all the crap they're going to throw at us, and I'm also prepared for the worst.

I don't have any alcohol in the house, though. I should get some.

BTW, I don't agree that I "freaked out" all that much last time. I remember putting up the Kerry sneak exit polls showing him ahead, but quickly, and through the rest of the day, put up all the stuff debunking those exits.

Basically the site mentioned those exits for a half hour before denigrating them for the rest of the day.

Final Rasmussen Polling: McCain Barely Ahead in FL, NC; Tied in OH, MO; Behind by 4 in VA, CO; Behind by 6 in PA
— Ace

This is actually pretty good news.

And here's the PA poll.

If you assume, as I do, that the Bradley effect, "socially desirable answer" phenomenon, and general underperformance of Democrats at the voting booth as compared to polling -- Barack Obama especially so -- accounts for a 4-6 point illusory advantage for Obama, and you assume Obama's new (and fraudulent) voters account for less than that, we've actually got a shot here.

Oh, I think Barack Obama's new, fake, and illegal voters will get him closer to the predicted values than for previous Democrats. But all the way there? I don't think so.

Are we favored? No, I wouldn't say that. We're underdogs. We need to win in just about every gettable state. But underdogs win every single week. Sometimes because it turns out the underdogs were never really underdogs at all -- they were only underdogs on paper. The oddsmakers got it wrong.

Sometimes underdogs even beat an unbeatable team and shock the world on the biggest stage there is. Just takes commitment and determination and perseverance and catching one or two lucky breaks.

Tyree catch_2.jpg

Thanks to J. Geoff again.

Latest TIPP: TIPP's new numbers -- a 4.5% advantage for the New England Patriots, I mean Barack Obama.

9% undecided.

If you're undecided at this point, the odds are low you're voting for Obama.

Now many of these may simply not vote. But hopefully many are more regular voters who will show up -- and vote for the smart, accomplished, maverick, non-radical socialist candidate.

And also for McCain, while they're at it.

Correction: Those weren't TIPP's final numbers -- they have one more coming tongiht, Watchdog tells me, and you know the old saw about weekend polls being bad for Republicans.

Since People Like the Analogy: Sometimes your pocket, or your safe base, crumbles all around you, but it holds just enough for you to make a miracle pitch and and grab needed territory you really shouldn't have had.

And sometimes this happens against a team which had already been coronated as historic, unbeatable all-time champions a year ago.

Another Vid: Since Obama's such a bicycle enthusiast.

Sometimes the leader celebrates before he actually wins.

Thanks to Warden.

Preview: Obama Spoke of Pushing "Bold" "Progressive Legislation" -- If He Had Democratic Majorities to Work With
— Ace

A dangerous man:

Â…Obama said he had no doubt that if the Democrats controlled Congress, it would be possible to move forward on important progressive legislation.

The alternative, until then, is to be opportunistic and look for areas where he can get enough Republican support to actually get a bill passed. That, he said, “means that most of the legislation I’ve proposed will be more modest in its goals than it would be if I were in the majority party.”…

“Karl Rove can afford to win with 51 percent of the vote. They’re not trying to reform health care. They are content with an electorate that is cynical about government. Progressives have a harder job. They need a big enough majority to initiate bold proposals.”
