Democrats Now Threatening Oil Exploration in Other Countries, Too
— Ace

Canada is producing a lot of oil from its oil stands, and will produce more and more.

But they won't necessarily sell it to us.

Why? Because Barack Obama and the Democratic twats are pandering to liberal global warming hysterics and environmental jerkoffs by claiming that extracting oil from sand is a a threat to the world.

Here's what Rick George, chief executive of Suncor Energy Inc., Canada's largest single oil sands producer, said this week, reflecting rising frustration with the wave of American anti-oil sands policies:

"We are down to very limited amounts of spare capacity," he said. "Mexico is in very steep decline. The North Sea is in decline. Venezuela is likely to slip from here. There are problems in Nigeria, Russia. The world will absorb this oil one way or the other. If the U. S. doesn't take it, then we will develop other markets."

Borrowing heavily from the rhetoric of the environmental movement, right down to using the pejorative "tar sands" to describe Canada's reserves, mayors from the United States' largest cities adopted a resolution at a meeting in Miami on Monday singling out Western Canada's oil-sands sector as part of a crackdown on fuels that cause global warming.

Yesterday, Mr. Obama vowed to break America's addiction to "dirty, dwindling and dangerously expensive" oil if elected U. S. president -- and he said one of his first targets may well be imports from Canada's oil sands. A senior advisor to Obama's campaign said it's an "open question" whether Alberta's oil sands fit with Obama's vision for shifting the U. S. dramatically away from carbon-intensive fuels.

Certainly with all the zero additional barrels of oil we're producing domestically we can afford to be choosy about our foreign purchases.

One problem with divided government is that there is never truly stark accountability. If liberal policies fail, as they usually do, the liberals claim that they were never given a chance to work, because conservatives watered them down or withheld some particular part of the plan which is now deemed to have been indispensable all along.

It's only a dark fantasy, but I'd dearly love to see Republicans take a "Whatever you say, Hoss" attitude towards all this liberal bullshit. Let's do exactly what the liberals want, and four years from now, after a deep economic depression, we'll take stock and decide whether the liberals' energy plans (which, as far as I can tell, rely upon purchasing some Magic Beans) have worked.

Via Instapundit, who's beginning to wonder about The Chosen One's ability to improve our strained relationships with key allies.

Anyone worried about the "Heller" case after some of the Supremes' latest rulings?
— Russ from Winterset

Based on the court's findings that foreign terrorists captured & held overseas during the course of a war (or "unlawful police action" if you're Congressman Persnickety McPendantfairy Paul(R?, Twilight Zone) or one of his ilk) have the right to hearings in front of American Civilian courts, and their new finding that aggravated rape of a child does not rise to the level of a capital crime, I'm starting to worry that the DC v. Heller decision is going to be another 5-4 abomination.

Because I'm all about derivative humor & stealing the hard-earned schtick of others, hows about a "Top Ten Probable Findings in the Heller Decision" post? C'mon, it'll be fun! Besides, what else are you going to do for the next five minutes? Go down to the "McCain for President" campaign office and volunteer to work the phone banks? I think not.

Barack Obama "Birth Certificate" -- Conclusively Fake?
— Ace

Israeli Insider advances the ball quite a bit here, though I'm not sure the case is quite proven.

But it's almost completely proven. Unless the following anomalies can be explained away, the Kos "certificate" is a fake:

* Someone was doctoring up obvious parody Obama "birth certificates" which are seen in a photobucket file. One of these has a "baby picture" of Obama, which is, um, Buckwheat from The Little Rascals. Although time-stamps are not conclusive, the time-stamp on the obvious Buckwheat-Baby forgery is actually prior in time to the time-stamp on the Daily Kos post showing the supposedly-real "birth certificate."

The earlier forgery is only prior to the Kos "real" certificate by two minutes... but then, the Daily Kos is on Pacific time, and it's possible the time-stamp of the Buckwheat Baby parody is on eastern time. Giving someone three hours to delete the Buckwheat pic and send the forgery along to Kos as a supposedly "real" certificate.

If the time-stamp on the Buckwheat Baby photoshop is accurate, it's hard to understand how a photoshopper got a hold of the real birth certificate before Kos had a chance to post it.

More likely, of course, is that the Buckwheat Baby photopshop is the original version of the supposedly-official certificate offered by Kos... and of course now the Obama campaign itself.

* An example of a real birth certificate plainly shows the embossed seal of the state on the back, poking through so that it is visible on the front. The Kos "certificate" of course includes no such seal. Also visible on the real one is a stamp bearing the registrar's signature, which is of course missing from Obama's "birth certificate."

* Finally, Israeli Insider bothered to ask someone in a position to know:

Janice Okubo, Director of Communications of the State of Hawaii Department of Health, told Israel Insider: "At this time there are no circumstances in which the State of Hawaii Department of Health would issue a birth certification or certification of live birth only electronically." And, she added, "In the State of Hawaii all certified copies of certificates of live birth have the embossed seal and registrar signature on the back of the document."

This seems nearly conclusive to me.

It's all rather baffling to me that Obama doesn't just request a real copy of his birth certificate -- what do they charge, $10 or $15? -- and post it. Why is his website copying and pasting a "birth certificate" gotten from the Daily Kos, especially when it 1) lacks an embossed seal or signature-stamp and 2) appears to just be a photoshop of a previous joke photoshop?

I repeat: the NYT wrote not just one but several stories raising the question of whether John McCain was constitutionally eligible to become president, due to the circumstances of his birth.

Is that not an interesting question when directed at Barack Hussein Obama? What accounts for that, I wonder?

In all likelihood, Obama's genuine birth certificate will show pretty much what Kos' apparent forgery shows -- and thus ends the issue, to the extent there is an issue lurking here. But why is the Obama campaign relying upon a almost-certain photoshop forgery when requesting the genuine article is obviously a rather easy action for it to take?

Thanks to the American Thinker.

An Inconvenient Posse
— Ace

The gang sign he's flashing has been identified as representing an LA-based gang called "The Original Gaiasters."

Also swiped from TMZ, though from TheDirty.com originally.

As I'm not funny anymore, I'll recycle this old Top Ten with a minor change or two.

Top Ten Signs Al Gore Invented Hip Hop

10. Is on record as a staunch opponent of "frontin'" oil corporations, but supports small family-owned businesses which are "just tryin' to represent"

9. Frequently concludes anti-Bush speeches by dropping microphone and striking "down" pose while exposing his "Senator Thug" belly-tatoo

8. Unsuccessfully lobbied to replace Senate voting system so that "Aye" would become "Fo' shizzle," "Nay" would become "How my ass taste?"

7. Pro-"jimmies," but favors controlling "nines"

6. Ron Brown reported to have "dissed" Al Gore shortly before his untimely death

5. Has dedicated his public life to helping working American families get the tools and assistance they need for raising their "shorties"

4. When sipping white wine spritzers at Nantucket environmental fundraisers, always takes a gulp "for me," then pours some into the ground "for my caribouzzles"

3. Wrote and co-sponsored SR 371, nicknamed the "Truth and Quality in Dropping Rhymes Bill;" bill had laudable goal of finally outlawing "suckah MC's who gots no skills," but was defeated by a posse of playah-hatin' Southern Republicans on a voice-vote

2. Known for always "keeping his pimp-hand strong" when negotiating in conference

...and the Number One Sign Al Gore Invented Hip Hop...

1. At his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, Gore gave much love to the Creator, all peace to JC, props to his producers No-Bonze and Jellythang from Bad Boy Entertainment, and a special "shout-out" to his agent Myron G. Herskovitz

The Sex Tape We've All Been Waiting For: Verne "Mini-Me" Troyer
— Ace

A bit of the tape, just the sexy kissing (which is somehow worse than actual sex), at TMZ.com.

Unsubstantiated reports say that his girlfriend (or whatever) encourages him with the erotic sex-talk, "You! Get in my belly!"

A still from the tape below the fold... SFW, kinda, but as TMZ says (as have many of you in the past), you can't unsee what you have seen.

Incumbent Rep. Chris Cannon Loses Primary to Underfunded Challenger -- Over Amnesty
— Ace

What's particularly interesting is that it's so obvious the loss was due to Cannon's pro-amnesty position that even the MSM admits it -- and they've generally struggled to portray the issue as favoring those in support of amnesty and then, when that idiotic spin was revealed as pure political fantasy, as at least not meaning all that much either way.

Will McCain heed the wake-up call? Will he comprehend that whatever gains he believes he's making among Hispanics, he's losing more support from actual Republicans?

No, of course not. Although it's likely that if McCain falls behind Obama by 5-10 points closer to the election suddenly we'll hear him talking up that "secure the border first" thing again. The Straight-Talking Maverick reveals a willingness to dishonestly pander whenever he's threatened.

Report: McCain To Have Republicans Cut Back On Voter Fraud Efforts
— DrewM

Awesome!

Marc Ambinder has the story.

John McCain's election strategists plan to tone down the Republicans' traditionally aggressive and public campaign against potential voter fraud, several Republicans familiar with the situation say.

...Other high-ranking Republicans believe that is politically precarious to be so aggressive in the context of a presidential race against an African American.

"The Democrats will unfortunately try to bring race into play when this discussion happens, as they do every cycle,” another top Republican who is advising the McCain campaign said. “It's unfortunate because illegally cast votes disenfranchise real voters by potentially canceling out their votes, and it's in everyone's best interest to have elections conducted fairly with no suspicion of foul play hanging over the winners.”

...Republicans close to the McCain campaign worry that outside groups will defy their wishes and mount independent efforts.

I don't know whether or not there's a backlash against Republicans for trying to ensure the integrity of ballots but I doubt that too many people who are actual or likely Republican voters are going to switch their votes based on it.

Regardless, I don't think this is an issue one should compromise on. There are laws and rules about who can vote and to not do everything you can to enforce them is a very bad idea. Every ineligible vote dilutes the value of a legitimate one.

If you don't think the problem exists take a look at Gateway Pundit's rundown on Democratic fraud activities from a few years back.

Maybe the McCain people really think provisional ballots provide enough security or maybe they just don't have the money for such an effort but abandoning this because you think you'll look bad is weak. Very weak.

Shock: MTV Lifts Ban on Political Advertising for First Time in Outlet's History
— Ace

Coincedentally, um, coinciding with Barack Obama's youth-powered run at the presidency.

Why, one would almost begin to imagine that perhaps the media supports Obama or something.

Keep on rockin' that vote, MTV. Keep on rockin' that vote.

Thanks to Circa.

Oh: And at a BET awards ceremony (does BET feature any programming at all, or do they just give out awards 24/7?) the crowd erupted in the charming chant "Obama or die."

Yet Another Maoist Radical Pal of Obama's Now Blogging for Him
— Ace

This cat received a $175,000 grant from the Ayers (terrorist)/Obama led Annenberg challenge to either run the "small schools project" or bomb Macy's at Christmas (not sure which, I skimmed).

And now of course he's enthusiastically supporting Obama by testifyin' for him on Obama's campaign site.

"This is not the Maoist radical I knew." -- Barack H. Obama

Thanks to CJ.

Caution/Correction: A leftish friend from the old internet days calls foul and says the link doesn't say Klonsky was a Weatherman. That's true and false -- the cited material doesn't say he was a Weatherman, but Gateway Pundit himself does.

I am writing GP to ask if he has a cite for that. In the meantime, I've corrected the headline to reflect what GP's link states.

Answer: Holt says it's "murky" whether Klonsky was a Weatherman, though he was an associate of Ayers and Dohrn back in the days before they became "mainstream fixtures" in Chicago.

So the lefty was right, pretty much. Thanks to him and apologies to readers.

From Wikipedia: Citations omitted:

The Weathermen were initially part of the Revolutionary Youth Movement (RYM) within the SDS, splitting from the RYM's Maoists by claiming there was no time to build a vanguard party and that revolutionary war against the United States government and the capitalist system should begin immediately. Their founding document called for the establishment of a "white fighting force" to be allied with the "Black Liberation Movement" and other "anti-colonial" movements to achieve "the destruction of US imperialism and the achievement of a classless world: world communism."

Klonsky was a leader of the RYM II, but apparently the RYM-Weatherman split was over, largely, the use of violence in the here and now. So Klonsky appeared (as far as I know, which isn't very far at all) to have deliberately avoided actually joining the Weathermen or engaging in its violent smash-the-state-by-killing-cops tactics.

That's thanks to Gateway Pundit again.

All of these groups are obviously linked and these "revolutionary leaders" were all plainly sympatico as to ends, but on the actual means (which is important) Klonsky doesn't appear to have shared Dohrn's or Ayers' exuberance for blowing things up and killing people.
