I'm going to guess this isn't exactly helping heal the rift in the Democratic Party.

It was supposed to be a moment for Obama to soothe some of the tension that still exists between the two camps. It was supposed to be a chance for Obama to solicit donations to help retire ClintonÂ’s campaign debt, that could total $30 million. It was supposed to be all that. The only problem is, he almost forgot.

He delivered a 32-minute speech to the crowd of 1,000 people at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City, and began walking off the stage to Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, and Delivered.”

... Obama seemed to realize he was about to fuel the feud-fire by his forgetfulness, and quickly rushed back on stage, saying, “Hold on a second guys, I was getting all carried away!” And then, the pitch: “Sen. Clinton still has some debt. And I could have had some debt if I hadn’t won, so I know the drill. There are many supporters of mine here who have not yet given something to help her retire that debt.”

In fact, estimates are that the Obama camp has only raised about $100,000 to help Clinton so far.

Obama and Clinton did appear together this morning and since she was standing next to him, Obama apparently managed to remember she existed.

Let's be honest though, when it comes to Sen. Barack Obama...there's only on important man up on that stage and it isn't Hillary Clinton.

A scream -- I think supposedly of a man being bitten by an alligator -- was used in a 1951 movie. Since then, it's been used in over 130 movies; Spielberg and Lucas use it an awful lot (and are responsible for the popularization of the kinda-cheesey scream).

Given all the hoo-hah about male privilege, a female critic of feminism decided that the game was a two-way street and attempted to honestly note the many examples of female privilege. Such as:

If I shy away from fights, it is unlikely that this will damage my standing in my peer group or call into question my worthiness as a sex partner.

If I attempt to hug a friend in joy, itÂ’s much less likely that my friend will wonder about my sexuality or pull away in unease.

If I interact with other peopleÂ’s children - particularly people I donÂ’t know very well - I do not have to worry much about the interaction being misinterpreted.

Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and ‘pray to Allah’ during a religious education lesson.

Parents were outraged that the two boys from year seven (11 to 12-year-olds) were punished for not wanting to take part in the practical demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.

They said forcing their children to take part in the exercise at Alsager High School, near Stoke-on-Trent – which included wearing Muslim headgear – was a breach of their human rights.

One parent, Sharon Luinen, said: “I understand that they have to learn about other religions. I can live with that but it is taking it a step too far to be punished because they wouldn’t join in Muslim prayer.

... “My child has been forced to pray to Allah in a school lesson.” The grandfather of one of the pupils in the class said. “But if Muslims were asked to go to church on Sunday and take Holy Communion there would be war.”

The NOPD is, I'm guessing, among the top three one most corrupt PD's in the country.

So it's good to know they've finally decided to take a stand against police lawlessness.

With minutes left in the last shift of his 35-year New Orleans police career, Sgt. Bobby Guidry received a call from a supervisor telling him he had been suspended for wearing the wrong uniform shirt, the veteran officer said.

The Police Department confirmed the censure Tuesday, though it quibbled with the term "suspended." Rather, Guidry is "under investigation for wearing the wrong uniform," said Police Department spokesman Bob Young.

Instead of the standard-issue all-black uniform, Guidry, a veteran officer in the city's Uptown 2nd District, chose the powder-blue uniform shirt that he wore to work for more than three decades.

He viewed it as a simple statement, not an affront to rules or department leadership.

"Eighteen people died in the line of duty in that powder-blue shirt while I was with the department," Guidry said. "I went to each of those funerals. I wore that shirt on a Saturday, on my last day, out of respect for them."

...The department's Public Integrity Bureau then opened a formal investigation with about 15 minutes left in Guidry's career.

The punishment will not affect Guidry's pension or benefits, but, as it stands now, he will not receive his retired police commission and will not be accepted into the NOPD's reserve unit, for which he had applied, Young said.

It should be noted that the hundreds of NO police who fled their posts during Hurricane Katrina were wearing the proper uniforms as they left their fellow citizens to die.

It's just a matter of professionalism.
