Musharraf to Resign
— Dave in Texas

Not good, but probably inevitable. I doubt that they're done with him.

Musharraf said he will turn in his resignation to the National Assembly speaker on Monday but it was not immediately clear whether it would become effective the same day. The chairman of Pakistan's Senate, Mohammedmian Soomro, was poised to take over in the interim.

It also was not clear whether Musharraf, a stalwart U.S. ally, would stay in Pakistan.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said leaders of the ruling coalition would discuss later Monday whether to prosecute Musharraf in court on charges that that were being planned for the impeachment process.

Obama Camp: Yeah He Was Lying About That Abortion Bill
— DrewM

Obama's been getting a lot of heat for opposing the Illinois version of the federal Born Alive Act, which would have provided protections for babies that survived an attempted abortion.

His campaign now says he opposed the bill because it would have undermined Illinois abortion law.

The funny thing is, as recently as Saturday Obama claimed that he only opposed the bill as a state Senator because it didn't include language that would have prevented it from undermining Roe v. Wade.

Brody: Real quick, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. I gotta tell you that's the one thing I get a lot of emails about and it's just not just from Evangelicals, it about Catholics, Protestants, main -- they're trying to understand it because there was some literature put out by the National Right to Life Committee. And they're basically saying they felt like you misrepresented your position on that bill.

Obama: Let me clarify this right now.

Brody: Because it's getting a lot of play.

Obama: Well and because they have not been telling the truth. And I hate to say that people are lying, but here's a situation where folks are lying. I have said repeatedly that I would have been completely in, fully in support of the federal bill that everybody supported - which was to say --that you should provide assistance to any infant that was born - even if it was as a consequence of an induced abortion. That was not the bill that was presented at the state level. What that bill also was doing was trying to undermine Roe vs. Wade. By the way, we also had a bill, a law already in place in Illinois that insured life saving treatment was given to infants.

There's only one small problem, Obama actually voted for an amendment (that passed) which added the same exact language the federal bill included to protect Roe and yet he still voted against the full bill in his committee.

How extreme was this vote? The federal version of the bill passed the Senate unanimously.

So to recap, Mr. New Politics, Mr. Let's Have Less Abortions, voted against a bill identical to that which passed the US Senate with the support of pro-choice politicians, then he lied about it while accusing others of lying about his position. And to top things off, he has now come up with a new and equally implausible reason for his opposition to mandating care for infants that survive an abortion.

There's only one name for a man who can do all of this...Captain Bullshit!

BTW-Andrea Mitchell just left me a teary voice mail. The only thing I could make out between the sobs was, "Leave Barack Alone!"

This. Shall. Not. Stand.
— Dave in Texas

A tip from DrewM, who was thinking about buying an F150.

The commie homeowners association oppression.

When they came at me with the clipboard and the Christmas "blue lights" demand, I stood my ground.

When they came after a Ford owner, I said "this far and no farther". And I'm a Chevy truck guy.

So if they come at my neighbor, for an F150 pickup, I load the SKS and wait.

(can anybody do something about that fuckin tomcat my neighbor Bob leaves running around? Oh, wait. I can do something).

Faith based gasoline pricing
— Purple Avenger

If you pray hard enough, the prices come down.

...At each session they changed the words of the hymn "We shall overcome" to "We'll have lower gas prices"...

..."Immediately the owners came out and changed the gas prices. They brought it down. We had marvellous success down in St Louis, Missouri."...

...Mr Twyman dismisses the idea that market forces might be responsible for the lower prices and plans to build on Pray at the Pump's success, driving petrol prices even lower...

I burn down one of the neighbors houses every day to keep the sun rising. No need to thank me for this.

It's old, I'm sure. New to me though.

I still don't understand, if we can do this, why the hell can't we have flying cars?

Incredible: Obama So Hip That Twentysomethings Are Willing to Pose for Pictures Wearing His T-Shirts!

This proves the political potency of Barack Obama -- one need only remember the meteoric political rise, and subsequent presidency, of Blackie Lawless of the metal group W.A.S.P.

Ha, Ha, Ha: Obama's Campaing and the Media (But I Repeat Myself) Claims McCain Cheated
— Ace

They're claiming John McCain was so well-prepared and forceful in his answers that he must have heard Warren's questions for Obama first, thus giving him a head's up and time to prepare.

While that's not altogether ridiculous, it does seem ridiculous to postulate that John McCain needed to "cheat" to know a question about Osama bin Ladin might be asked:

(Videotape)

SEN. JOHN McCAIN (R-AZ): Defeat it. Couple of points. One, if I'm president of the United States, my friends, if I have to follow him to the gates of hell, I will get Osama bin Laden and bring him to justice. I will do that and I know how to do it. I will get that done.

(End videotape)

MR. GREGORY: Andrea Mitchell, that's a pretty clear contrast.

MS. ANDREA MITCHELL: Oh, absolutely. And, you know, there was the crisp, immediate, forceful response by John McCain, clearly in a comfort zone because he was with his base. And Barack Obama, taking a risk in going there but seeing an opportunity. And a much more nuanced approach. The Obama people must feel that he didn't do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because that -- what they're putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.

MR. GREGORY: Right.

MS. MITCHELL: He seemed so well prepared.

Andrea Mitchell again, note. Andrea Mitchell is claiming that the fact that Mr. Military John McCain had a forceful answer about getting Osama bin Ladin is evidence he must have "cheated" and gotten advance notice that such an obscure, out-of-left-field question would be asked.

And Andrea Mitchell isn't merely repeating the Obama camp's whining, which in itself would be unobjectionable; she's endorsing this "interesting theory," and attempting to show it as something other than ludicrous, by emphasizing McCain "seemed so well-prepared."

For a question about Osama bin Ladin. Did I mention that?

And how about this for additional evidence of skullduggery?

Barack Obama Fails to Shine Alongside John McCain

...

As a regular church-goer comfortable talking about his faith, Mr Obama is ostensibly better placed than most recent Democratic candidates to win over evangelicals.

But his support of abortion, a non-negotiable issue for many conservative Christians, remains a considerable obstacle, and he drew disapproving noises from the 2,800 audience at Saddleback in Lake Forest, California when he gave an evasive response to the question of when human rights begin for a baby.

"Whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade," said Mr Obama.

Mr McCain, who has always been against abortion, in contrast gave a swift response: "At the moment of conception", drawing a loud round of applause.

I can't wait to hear Andrea Mitchell suggest that McCain obviously must have been listening in to Obama's interview -- after all, how would he have possibly known a question about abortion and the moment of conception would come up at an evangelical leader's faith-based joint appearance?

You know who really has to worry about Obama stealing their precious supply of White Women? Andrea Mitchell's husband, Alan Greenspan.

For my money, I'm actually pleased John McCain answered these questions so crisply, forcefully, and, um, well-prepardishly. I don't think he was eavesdropping, so this leaves only one other possibility -- He must be a psychic.

And you want your Commander in Chief to be a Scanner.*

Via Hot Air.

Was Obama Cheating? To hear CNN's spinmeisters tell the tale, Obama had a hell of a night. His evasive, rambling, insensible answers were "thoughtful" in their expert estimation.

So -- it seems, per CNN, Obama must have been cheating to consistently offer up such "thoughtful" meanderings and nonsensities. How else could Captain Bullshit have been so "well-prepared" with such rhetorical Cool-Whip?

I wonder if we'll hear Andrea Mitchell suggesting that possibility.

* They're remaking Scanners for a 2009 release -- too late to help McCain, by advertising his amazing mindpowers.

I question the timing.

Biden's Got Juice? What?
— Gabriel Malor

Huh. Marc Ambinder writes:

John McCain sent his buddies. Misha S. requested Joe Biden. Biden has more juice than John McCain right now.

So if Obama chooses Biden, the Republicans will say....Ha ha, loudmouth, loose cannon Biden. He's Obama's foreign policy arm-candy. To which Biden will respond, "Bring it. I was in Georgia last week."

The timestamp says 8:37am, so presumably Marc wasn't drunk when he wrote that.

Background here, where politics somehow manages to sound a lot less like the quad at a highschool.

Anti-McCain Ad From DU
— LauraW

This video is devastating to McCain.

I think it behooves us all to examine the substance of the Left's opposition to him as a candidate. No linkage for DU, but I did bite on the video embed from youtube:

This is what I have learned:

1.) John McCain is opposed to the legalization of medical marijuana

2.) John McCain takes Ambien "as needed during travel."

3.) McCain is oooold and can't handle pills, so if he gets elected he's going to have a dream one night that he is on Family Feud having a racist tantrum against the Obama family, and push the gameshow button, but in real life push 'The Button' and the whole Middle East will go up in flames and then Russia will send its nukes over here and we will all die in a fiery conflagration.

4.) The Left is largely populated with paranoid subretards who think that a candidate's stand on improving their access to some sweet cheeba is a litmus test for Presidential mettle.
