— Open Blog Seems kind of quiet around here. Since itÂ’s the first weekend of the college football season, have at it (even though there arenÂ’t really that many interesting games today). Or have at it on anything else. Happy taunting!

— Ace It really isn't much of a scandal. But Fopping Aces summarizes it.

— Ace Kind of funny, and I don't really want to knock on him for being free-spirited (I can knock on him for being a self-centered jerkweed, of course).
But the NFL is going to have to pass a rule. And they will. Otherwise lesser players will begin changing their names to Brian Kinney Shoes and Anfernee Grand Theft Auto V.
Thanks to someone.
I forget who said it... but I think it was Chris Collinsworth, himself a receiver. He offered the explanation why so many receivers are psychopathic and/or utterly selfish: Just the nature of the position. It doesn't rely on much teamwork so there's never that sense of, um, teamwork. And it's such an individual performance position that flakes and fruitcakes who could never survive the league in a team role can still hack it all by themselves split out wide in their own little world (as long as they're fast and have the brainpower to memorize a few dozen patterns).
Just always thought that was interesting. Not sure if it's really true that receivers are disproportionately assholish or, like the summer of shark attacks, I just always notice it now because I'm aways looking for it.

— Ace Lefties are furiously scouring the internet for Sarah Palin's old position papers on NAFTA.
Just kidding. They say they want to keep the debate elevated and discuss the issues, but that is, of course, like so much of what they say, an utter lie. Mitigated only by the fact they're so self-deluded about their own righteous virtue and lofty intellectualism they almost believe it themselves.
So what are they looking for?
Well, check out the search which just landed on my site. And the various lefty sites encouraging searching in this direction.
Here's an example from Craigslist...
got a be a pic out there somewhere. Will the religious hardliners vote for a woman that was in a swimsuit competition?Their counterpart taliban wouldn't.
But the lefty blogs are alive with the hopes of a swimsuit pic that will disgust all of us crazy vagina-fearing right-wingers.
Stay classy, left wing. Stay classy, and stay deluded.
Do you honestly fucking believe anyone's going to be put off by a young woman wearing a fucking swimsuit?
Projection ain't just a river in Egypt.
The Obamabots really aren't going to try to reverse that reputation for misogyny any time soon.
Friendly Fire: No pics of Sarah Palin in scandalous beachwear yet, but some minor collateral damage inflicted -- CNN reporter John Roberts, back in the eighties, in Toronto, I think, hosting some stupid teenage video show or somethin'.
But lookin' cool.
You search for one of ours in a swimsuit, we post one of yours in Huey Lewis hand-me-downs. And that's the Chicago way.
Surely no leftwinger could ever trust someone who once wore a mullet.
Thanks to Rev. E. Buzz Miller and CJ.
SHAME SHAME SHAME!!! The extra caps are for extra outrage.
Persistent Ain't They? Another google hit, now for "Sarah Palin bikini."
Internet detectives or just horndogs?
And More and More: Sarah Palin swimsuit; Sarah Palin wore a bikini.
I have to point out these are all different searches, conducted at different times. The same idiot can't keep clicking on my site thinking suddenly I'm going to have the bikini pics I didn't have the other three times.
So, I guess I'm going to keep getting hits for Sarah Palin swimsuit competition searches, with people searching for hot pictures of Sarah Palin in a bikini, or even totally hot gubernatorial action.
It's ridiculous. It's not like Governor Sarah Palin once posed for Victoria's Secret wearing nothing but high heels and a clown nose or something.
I'm just saying, whatever you do, if you want to avoid unwanted Google interlopers, don't post anything about Sarah Palin and her secret bikini pictures, Sarah Palin and the "Air Force Two," or homoerotic pillowfights between Governor Sarah Palin and Smurfette.

— Purple Avenger In this post, Ace shows its already starting to happen. What I'll refer to as the "Lazio Effect"© applies to women candidates who are perceived by the female public to have been attacked unfairly, or with too much gusto.
Rick Lazio was Hillary's challenger in her first senate campaign. When he strode towards her podium during one of the debates and demanded she sign some sort of pledge and pointed his finger at her in this pic, he lost the senate race. What had been previously tight, turned into a blowout as women all over NY flocked to Hillary's defense even the ones that didn't particularly like her. The finger pointing incident was big news for quite a while up in NY. I was up in the Albany area at the time and the change in mood was palpable.

The unhinged left, and Joe Biden would profit by remembering Rick Lazio's actions and his fate. Palin isn't nearly as loathsome as Hillary, so the Lazio Effect© will kick in with her even harder and faster than it did for Hillary (and that was pretty damn quick)

— Ace Via Instapundit, Reclusive Leftist writes:
Why is it a genius move?...
It will complete the alienation of the rest of the Hillary supporters from the Obama camp. How? That’s easy — the Obamabots will do it themselves. Go read the Washington Post blog or anywhere online where the Palin pick is being discussed, and you’ll see the trademark Obama misogyny already out in full force. She’s been on the ticket for two seconds and already the Obamabots are saying she “looks like a porn star,” they’re making rude remarks about her childbearing, they’re ridiculing her intelligence.Keep it up, possums. Keep it up. Just when some Hillary supporters were trying to forget what misogynist freaks you all are, now you’re going to remind us all over again.
Oh, she must be exaggerating. Surely these Obamabots wouldn't do anything like that. Not publicly, anyway.
But wait-- what's this comment Nom de Blog just pointed out in the Cool Facts thread?
Sarah Palin's judgment is despicalble. She knowingly whelped a Mongoloid child earlier this year, probably to pander to the Right to Life Nutbags.Irresponsible decisions like hers dilutes the viability of the American Gene Pool. No wonder why we are falling farther and farther behind in an increasingly competitive global economic environment.
Her OB should have cut her tubes after her first child!!!

Paul Carooke, I hope, is fertile. Wouldn't want to deny the American Gene Pool the contributions of this Mensa Chapter President.
Barack Obama for President
Hope, Change, and just a pinch of pathological, subliterate hatred to keep it spicy.
Think they're scared?

— Ace Since you guys are unfamiliar with the concept:
2 a: the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning b: a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by ironyc: an ironic expression or utterance
3 a (1): incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result
Guys? Um, obviously if my facts were wrong, that can't make my conclusions stronger. Perhaps you didn't detect this as calculated ridiculousness because, to you, that statement isn't that ridiculous-- as you yourselves insist the same thing all the time.
The other problem here, of course, is that lefties have such thin-skins themselves -- coupled with such unwarrantedy outsized egos -- they cannot even conceive of someone poking fun at himself and making sport of his own mistakes.
They're not capable of that, and so they can't imagine anyone else could be.
Well, guys, unlike you suprageniuses who are convinced you know everything, most of us on the right are rather more realistic about our strengths and weaknesses, virtues and flaws, and aren't terrified at the notion of publicly acknowledging them, and even giving others a small chuckle in doing so.
I correct my mistakes. When they're particularly half-cocked, I make fun of myself for them. (I am known as Head Moron on this site, which should sort of tip you off.)
You guys, on the other hand, will argue for hours you're right even though you're clearly wrong, and then when it becomes too embarrassing to continue the charade, you'll delete the post and bury the evidence of your error.
We don't roll that way here. We're transparent and we acknowledge errors.
Incidentally, the two errors I made were 1) Obama's age, three years away from Palin's and 2) a mistaken guess (acknowledged as pure guess) as to the size of Obama's district.
And to you guys -- this is a major victory.
Enjoy.
Oh, and hit the tip-jar, and also, suck the barbed cock of Satan.
PS: This choice really seems to be wigging them the fuck out.
Wigging them Out... Like a Viking? Apparently Palin met with some Scandi-enthusiasts at some point.
That's also from Rachel Lucas, in the comments. Thanks to Purple Avenger.
I'm 99% sure that's actually real but don't know for sure yet.

— Ace And after I apologized to him.
This bullshit began when oppo researchers quickly dug up a picture of Palin wearing a Buchanan button. From that, Matthews concluded that she was a Pitchfork Pat torch-bearer.
Not so.
The entire case is based on a 1999 AP article, which described her as "sporting a Buchanan button" at a Buchanan visit to the town of which she was mayor. She promptly responded to the story in a letter to the editor, that "the article may have left your readers with the perception that I am endorsing this candidate, as opposed to welcoming his visit to Wasilla. As mayor, I will welcome all the candidates in Wasilla."
And from that came Chris Matthews' spittle-spraying attack.
Straight from Media Matters or DNC oppo researchers (but I repeat myself) to national telecast, no fact-checking required.
I wonder if Matthews will retract. I sort of doubt it.
And guess what? Despite the fact this has already been debunked, I am 99.99% sure it will play prominently on Meltdown with Keith Mattthews in ten minutes.
He already knows it's been knocked down; he doesn't care. He'll run it, then later claim he didn't know it had been debunked.
Thanks to Hot Air.
Straight from Kos to MSNBC: With only Keith Olbermann as the middleman.
Why not just read DKos directly over the airwaves?

I don't want "adorable bubbly and sweet" in the WH during wartime. As a Christian I believe she should be home with her small children, especially the child with Downs Syndrome- not traipsing around the world and spending long hours on the job. Entirely inappropriate choice. Men will vote because she is attractive- is that sensible? Al Qaeda is laughing at this very moment, I guarantee it. McCain passed over tough, seasoned candidates for a bit of fluff and we will pay dearly.-- "Jack"
Well, Mrs. Palin must have put the fear of (the) God(dess) into the left, because that's one of our best Mobys ever.
"Jack,"
Well, I have to say, as a liberal Democrat and Obama supporter, that I'm impressed with her and am now changing my vote to vote for McCain/Palin.
I can't believe that I, a lifelong Democrat, will be voting Republican this year.
