— Purple Avenger OBAMA EXPOSURE BURNOUT
...By a margin of 76% to 11% respondents in Pew's weekly News Interest Index survey named Obama over McCain as the candidate they have heard the most about in recent days. But the same poll also shows that the Democratic candidate's media dominance may not be working in his favor. Close to half (48%) of Pew's interviewees went on to say that they have been hearing too much about Obama lately. And by a slight, but statistically significant margin - 22% to 16% - people say that recently they have a less rather than more favorable view of the putative Democratic nominee..."hearing too much about" is most likely code for we're sick of this guy and have made up our minds. Anyone who planned on voting for Obama would be delighted that they're getting 7x24 exposure to the Messiah and that he was crowding McPain out of the news....51% of independents shared this opinion, and as many as a third of Democrats thought so too...
Of course, 1/3rd of democrats must be racists for harboring such opinions.

— Ace First up, a low-budget independent Cthulhu movie. Looks decent. The film, though, is only being screened in select cities, and only for a weekend or so before moving on to the next one. And it also co-stars Tori Spelling, which just goes to show the sort of passion the filmmakers had to get this financed. more...

— Ace The issue of Obama's calculated and passive-aggressive pattern of smearing anyone who disagrees with him as a racist is dying down a bit, but there's still time for last licks.
Did he miss this one? If you defend yourself vigorously against Obama's smearing of you as racist... you may be a racist.
This is no small potatoes. Obama seeks to define any criticism of himself or his covert leftist agenda as either a "distraction" from the "real issues" or "racism." (He's debuting a third theory of Illegitimate Questioning, now branding any reporter who does his job and asks him difficult questions a McCain surrogate. The press pro-McCain and anti-Obama? If he can sell that one, I admit it: He really is the Messiah.)
Hillary allowed Obama to so define each and every criticism of Obama as either irrelevant, or the "old style of politics," or actually racist, and she got rolled.
McCain isn't allowing that, and can't allow that. Although Obama will continue crying foul, no American can permit Obama to define questioning a contender for the office of President of the United States of America as somehow out-of-bounds, impolite, mean-spirited or animated by racial hatred.
Not just McCain or Republicans, mind you. Liberals themselves should be outraged by this blatant attempt to define opposition to Obama as fundamentally un-American. I know that many Hillary supporters are still angry that the MSM permitted Obama to essentially question the patriotism of anyone who questioned Obama; one would think, after seven years of screaming about Bush supposedly shutting down debate by questioning the motives of anyone opposed to him, even Obama supporters would be viscerally opposed to the tactic.
But, of course, like the new Hollywood blacklist against conservatives, dedicated leftists aren't really upset by the tactic itself, just that they didn't think of it first and didn't get to make use of it. And now that they can use it, well, darnit, they're going to use it unapologetically.
Sometimes "Never Again" just means "Not Until It's Our Turn."

— Ace On Sunday, I had a bad case of dizzinness including, alarmingly, the complete inability to focus with my eyes for about twenty minutes. My eyes were literally cork-screwing around in their orbits, unable to agree between themselves on a common point of focus. It was kinda scary.
I think I had some kind of flu or possibly was just dehydrated, or both. Drinking tons of water seemed to help, but perhaps it just passed. I still have a bit of fuzziness and weariness, but nothing awful.
I got pretty screwed up as far as sleeping, napping for long periods during the day and then, consequently, being unable to sleep until very late at night. Along with suddenly waking up from sleep and being unable to sleep for another couple of hours.
I know I'm really pushing stuff with starting the day at 4pm Eastern. I'm going to drug myself to fall asleep earlier, or try to stay up all night, or something else to get back on a normal sleep cycle.
Apologies for the weirdness.
BTW: I thought my update to the Ivins post -- noting that Ivins was, despite the deepest wishes of the left and MSM (but I repeat myself) a real, bona-fide Democrat -- would get more comment.
I'm mentioning it again in case people didn't notice that I had updated the post quite a bit.

— Gabriel Malor After all, they have multiple layers of painstaking editorial fact-checking, right?
Townhall columnist (and hottie) Amanda Carpenter made short work of the bogus "McCain donor irregularity" article that was on the front page of the Washington Post today. A few hours later, WaPo fessed up:
Correction to This Article
An earlier version of this story about campaign donations that Florida businessman Harry Sargeant III raised for Sen. John McCain, former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton incorrectly identified three individuals as being among the donors Sargeant solicited on behalf of McCain. Those donors -- Rite Aid manager Ibrahim Marabeh, and lounge owners Nadia and Shawn Abdalla -- wrote checks to Giuliani and Clinton, not McCain. Also, the first name of Faisal Abdullah, a McCain donor, was misspelled in some versions of the story.
Actually, now that I've given it a second look, this is a different correction than the one that ran earlier. That original version, which omits the prevarication that this story was really about Sargeant all along, can be seen at this post by Amanda.
As she writes, this completely eviscerates the story. There's only one "unlikely donor" left, which means there is no there there, at least when it comes to McCain. The author of the piece, Matthew Mosk, might have had a point when it comes to the bundler collecting from unusual sources. But this was clearly supposed to be a hit-piece directed at McCain (just read the first two paragraphs).
How could they have blown this? I think you'll only need one guess.

— Ace An NPR report details evidence already mentioned.
Some highlights from the briefing:
* "Sole suspect" in investigation
* Focused on Ivins' (USAMRIID) lab in 2005; Ivins in 2007
* Identified a "genetically unique" parent material used in attacks called RMR-1029 from single, specific flask; "created and solely maintained by Dr. Ivins;" "no one received material from that flask without going through Dr. Ivins;" ruled out all persons who could have had access to flask, except Ivins

— Gabriel Malor The question is not whether you trust John McCain, it's whether you trust him more than you do Barack Obama.
Perhaps the most interesting finding of these polls is that McCain has expanded his leads on nearly every issue he had previously had the advantage on, while ObamaÂ’s leads have diminished over the past two weeks. [...]In the new survey, McCain has tripled his lead on the topic of immigration. He now has a 45% to 36% advantage over his Democratic opponent, up from a three-point lead two weeks ago.
The Republican also has pulled ahead on the issue of balancing the federal budget. Two weeks ago, the candidates were tied on this issue at 40%. McCain now has a 43% to 40% lead on the issue among voters.
McCain used to be behind on the issue of Social Security but has pulled ahead of Obama for a 44% to 38% lead. [...]
The economy is the top issue for the majority of voters this election season. Voters have consistently trusted the Democratic Party more on this issue, but the two presidential candidates are tied at 45% as to who voters trust more. A week prior, Obama had a statistically insignificant one percentage point lead on the issue.
Obama can't seem to find a strategy that works. He had a decent bounce when he wrapped up the Democratic nomination, but it's been downhill from there. His flip-floppery "inartful" position adjustments made even his own supporters nervous. His world tour didn't help him with moderates. His appeal to racism made things worse. And no matter his particular stance on issues, voters are losing confidence that he has any idea at all what he is doing.
He thought he could get some traction on energy, but was outflanked---first by his own stupid tire pressure statement, and later by a blond heiress. Now voters chose McCain 46% to 42% on energy issues. McCain has stayed on the attack, announcing on Monday that if he were president, he would call Congress back into session.
In the meantime, Obama goes on vacation in two days. He'll be sunning himself while Hillary Clinton takes over the campaign trail "on his behalf." Good ideeaa??

— DrewM I don't want to say too much about this since it's Ace's thing but here's the link to the photo. I'm not saying it's fake but it's blurry and now that 'fauxtography' has entered the lexicon, you just never know.
In the meantime, in case you are wondering why any woman would have sex with John Edwards (aside from the alleged $15k/month payout), below the fold we walk down memory lane and see why the ladies love them some Silky. more...
