Editor of Gay Gossip Site and Antisemitic Conspiracy Newsletter The Atlantic to Apologize to McCain for Doctored Pictures
— Ace

CYA.

Sure, sure. I mean, how could he have suspected she'd do this? She merely terrorized babies in order to snap pictures of them crying and then slap on ant-Bush messages (suggesting that Bush, rather than the fact she was scaring them, was the source of their misery and fright).

Honestly, the gay gossip site and antisemitic conspiracy newsletter The Atlantic just could never have seen this one coming.

Thanks to someone.

Some Twit In The Philadelphia InquirerÂ…Sarah PalinÂ’s Probably A White Supremist Or Something, Right?
— DrewM

TodayÂ’s bit of unhinged anti-Palin hackery goes as follows:

Palin grew up in Idaho and there were lots of racists there. Palin lives in Alaska and there arenÂ’t very many black people there. DO THE MATH PEOPLE! CONNECT THE DAMN DOTS!

After spending 7 paragraphs listing every white supremacy group and racist one can think of that might have been with 1,000 miles of Sarah Palin at some point in her life, this lefty jackass is forced to admit thereÂ’s no actual, you know record of Palin being a racist or anything. Not that that stops her from demanding that questions be asked.

There is no evidence that Palin was ever affiliated with white-supremacist groups during her years in Idaho or at home in Alaska. On the other hand, the beliefs of ultraconservative, evangelical churches like her family's come dangerously close to those of the Christian Identity movement of those years. Likewise, Palin's husband was a member of a political party whose members favored secession for Alaska, suggesting an affiliation with radical antistatism.

Perhaps somewhere on the record, Palin has publicly condemned the radical politics of her region. But it is hard to know where she stands on issues of race, equality and diversity. Thus it is high time to review the cultural ideals and models of the radical rurals from the Great White Northwest and find out for sure where Gov. Palin stands.

You’ve heard of “guilty while driving black” of course. I gather this is “guilty while living in the Pacific Northwest”.

If only we could find out if say, and I’m just spitballing here, if Obama had any connection to radical racists, perhaps even one connected to a church of some sort. And as for ‘radial antistatism’, do you suppose Obama ever knew anyone who, and again I’m just thinking out loud here, wanted to overthrow the US government by force?

Of course, questions must be asked, even if thereÂ’s no actual evidence. Of Palin naturally. You see if there was actual evidence in Obama's case, the MSM wouldnÂ’t ask questions, theyÂ’d have to work hard to hide that evidence. How hard would they have to work? As hard as if Elizabeth EdwardsÂ’ feelings were depending on it.

h/t The Corner.

[ace]: As a skinhead member of the "reformed" branch of the Church of Adolf Christ (the "reformed" branch doesn't hate blacks or anything; we just concentrate on THE FUCKING JEWS (!!!1!!11!)), I just want to say I'm thrilled by the news that Sarah Palin "shares my values."

But I have a question: Do you believe that her membership in the PentacoSStaliSSt Church will begin to blunt the McCain surge? I'm just asking. A few of the guys in the basement of my church-cum-Reichsbunker were thinking about this as we were printing up posters portraying Jews as vampire bankers.

PS, Heil Hitler. RaceWar be with you.

And with you.

Poll: Obama Badly Trailing Kerry with Seniors
— Ace

And Kerry still lost seniors 65 and over by 5 points. Obama's trailing by 13.

Obama's really counting on those "young new voters," isn't he? Especially to play the age card.

Although I have to say, as a committed Christian values voter and former POW myself, I find McCain's exploitation of his so-called "disability" disgusting.

Jesus Was an Astroturfing PR Flack
— Ace

I'm enjoying some of David Axelrod's flackwork:

Do you guys think the McCain camp's honesty problem is going to start hurting them? Two paid staffers for his campaign told me yesterday that they realize the ads are based on falsehoods, and to this Christian voter, that is a big problem.

To this agnostic non-voter, you're posting that directly from Obama HQ, or straight from coming from the DKos boards. (Which are after all just the virtual Obama HQ.)

Found at this comment at the 538 electoral projection blog.

I really want to start tracking these obvious astroturfed sockpuppet comments. And see where their IPs trace to.

Patterico had one the other day knocking Palin, from a "Wasilla Resident" whose IP, strangely enough, traced back to the suburbs just north of Chicago. So I guess Cameron from Ferris Beuller's Day Off spent some time in the nineties working in Alaska's oil fields?

Astroturfed Sockpuppet Thread? Maybe it would be funny to parody these comments.

"As a longtime supporter of both John McCain and Sarah Palin, I think it's disgusting that McCain would play the 'POW card' to explain away his utter unfamiliarity with Facebook."

More Robert! This comment-happy Christian just wants to get out "the facts."

Robert said...

Baptist, and at lunch after church today, everyone (except the 2 who really don't pay any attention and had no comments) agreed that it was pretty ridiculous what McCain was doing now, in light of his experience in 2000.

What McCain and Palin want us to believe and repeat really smacks of moral relativism. Truth is stubborn, and not usually that subject to interpretation, at least in the culture I inhabit.

...

Relativism explained: creating a whole alternate "reality" in which Palin is this principled anti-pork reformer, based on several datapoints that don't pass any standard of honesty.

...

I will say, Palin is going to make a huge difference in McCain's ground game. While a lot of us Christians are not this way, this is the Republican equivalent of Dem's identity politics. (and yes, there are tons of single issue voters in this crowd, who now believe McCain is pro-life). I think the only thing that could shake that base is evidence to the contrary on the pro-life issue for McCain and Palin coming out. That would unshake things up. However, this honesty thing is a real big deal for him as well. His recent ads have been disgusting.

...

In all honesty, you guys who seem to think I'm not serious. Buzz is rising on the honesty issue in one Baptist church (I can't really say beyond that; N=1). Maybe I'll call a few people back home in TX, see what they think.

I'm not trying to start a culture war on the forum, just relating something that seems like it might affect the half-life of the Palin bounce.

Wow! This Robert cat is really familiar with the talking points -- and strategic messaging needs -- of the Obama camp!

Maybe his ability to channel David Axelrod arises from his practice at speaking in tongues!

"You're gonna need a bigger boat"
— Russ from Winterset

Sad news today. Frank Mundus, thought by many to be the inspiration for Captain Quint in Peter Benchley's novel "Jaws", passed away last Wednesday at the age of 82.

Frank Mundus goes in the coffin?

Coffin goes in the ground?

Cold in the ground?

Farewell, Captain Mundus. If there's any justice in this world, you went shark fishing with Mother Teresa, Bob Hope and Oskar Schindler on Thursday morning, and you found that your heavenly boat's got a bottomless cooler full of Yuengling, wire leaders that never snap, and a reinforced keel so that the twenty, twenty-five footers you bring up to the boat never climb over the back and chow on you like Kirstie Alley going after the last Little Debbie snack cake in the box.

Did Obama Try To Interfere With US-Iraqi Negotiations?
— DrewM

That's the claim of the Iraqi Foreign Minister according to Amir Taheri in his NY Post column.

While campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

Now as much as I dislike Obama, I think we need to reserve judgment on this before saying or doing anything rash. Things like indicting Obama under the Logan Act for example.

Remember, this isnÂ’t the first time Zebari has gone after Obama publicly. There could be a lot of things going on from a simple misunderstanding to a deep game involving domestic Iraqi politics. Remember that Prime Minister Maliki sounded pretty pro-Obama after their visit. Perhaps this is payback to even things up or a reflection of an internal split among Iraqi leaders on who they'd rather see win the US election.

Let’s be honest though, unless you are a member of the Cult of Obama, it’s pretty clear he’d rather win an election than a war that might further US interests. Because of that, I can't say it's entirely out of the realm of possibility. It's all too possible that the man who parades around the country with his own presidential trappings (including his own ‘presidential’ seal and a plane dubbed O-Force One) might, from time to time, forget he is a mere Senator and a damn junior one at that.

It's important that our friends in the press question Obama about this (donÂ’t laugh, it could happen). After all if weÂ’ve learned anything from the last few weeks is that all questions must be on the table. Questions like, what are the criminal penalties for violating the Logan Act anyway?

...Just to be clear, I'm joking about the Logan Act stuff. I'm under no illusions that he would be prosecuted or even investigated. Still, this is pretty serious stuff and it should be aired during the course of the campaign so the voters can judge him accordingly. This is far more important than the made up scandals the media and the Democrats (please forgive the repetition) have tried to hang on Palin.

UK joins the Caliphate [someone]
— Open Blog

As bad as it's been trending over there, this takes the cake:

ISLAMIC law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases.

The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.

Rulings issued by a network of five sharia courts are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or High Court.

(Emphasis added.)

"Muslim civil cases"? That's one way of looking at it. After all, beating your wife is one of those official Islamic activities we're not allowed to question.

In the six cases of domestic violence, Siddiqi said the judges ordered the husbands to take anger management classes and mentoring from community elders. There was no further punishment.

In each case, the women subsequently withdrew the complaints they had lodged with the police and the police stopped their investigations.

Surprise meter: zero.

Leaving a substantial number of (nonwhite) British women to the mercies of this antique barbarism seems to me both sexist and racist, but what do I know? I'm just an ignorant American, bitterly clinging to freedom and the rule of law.
