Zogby: McCain-Palin Now Lead By (Almost) 4
— Ace

Boom.

Forget the numbers, which are always squiffy. Observe the direction.

But if you do what to look at actual numbers, note that when Palin and Biden aren't mentioned, McCain only has a three point lead. With the running mates mentioned, not only does McCain pick up almost a full point, but the pair clock in at 49.7% -- which is what we call a majority in America. (Given the 1-2% draw of third-party tickets.)

Unfortunately, Palin is not helping with undecided women. I sort of feared that.

On the plus side, she helps with many other groups:

Clearly, Palin is helping the McCain ticket. She has high favorability numbers, and has unified the Republican Party. The striking thing here in this poll is that McCain has pulled ahead among Catholics by double-digits. On the other hand, Palin is not helping with likely voting women who are not aligned with either political party. The undecided independent women voters decreased this week from 15% to 7%, but those women went to Obama. Palin is also helping among men, conservatives, notably with suburban and rural voters, and with frequent Wal-Mart shoppers, who tend to be "values" voters who like a good value for their money.

Suffice to say if Palin actually does start to draw women voters, forget it, turn out the lights, it's over. Katie bar the door.

We won't even need Bush to cancel the elections and declare himself El Jefe Maximo Por Libre, as left has long insisted he would. (And, actually, I admit, has always been our Plan A. But now Plan B is looking pretty good too.)

Hot Air's headlines.

Also-- I haven't bothered because there's just so much of it, but if you haven't read it all, check Hot Air for all the scandal-debunkings and balloon-poppings.

Although I too take pleasure in this shit being debunked, and imagining Sullivan crying so much he needs Gatorade injections to rehydrate himself, the left-wing and the media (but I repeat myself) is simply throwing every piece of shit rumor out there without vetting. It's disgraceful -- but it's also not working.

And in the few areas where a good case can be made against Palin -- tough shit, DKM, no one's listening any more. You lose.

Magical Mystery Tour: Meet the Beatles.

Quote from the naturally pessimistic Allah:

Just listen to the crowd. IÂ’ve honestly never seen anything like this for a conservative politician before.

Those are roars. You can't fake this.

I would say something stupid right now like "It's over, Obama is toast."

The trouble is, there are still five or six major twists to come in this thriller.

My problem with this speech is that she's mostly just repeating her very-good nomination speech. I know it's a "stump speech," and as such frequently repeated, but she has to start varying it up a little bit, like a band changing its set list every show. Sure, most of the songs are still the same, but you slip in a different unexpected song from time to time.

In this one, she mentions reforming Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, which is what I'm talking about, but that's just one different song.

McCain also should start campaigning with rotating all-stars like Huckabee and Thompson, and send out Palin separately to cover different cities and towns with other big names -- especially Giuliani, whenever possible.

The Giuliani-Palin combination is already a proven killer.

Some Movement With Women: Rasmussen shows some movement with women. They show Obambi with a 1 point lead (three with leaners), but if women are moving towards McCain/Palin, well, we'll have not two weeks of gloating but two months.

My Attempt at Shooting an Idea to the Campaign: Hey, Geraghty had one of his suggested lines (a killer line) incorporated into the speech.

Obama: Through Sheer Force of Charisma and Personality I Will Convince Russia, Hamas, North Korea and Iran to Lay Down Their Arms, But Oh, By the Way, I Can't Convince Fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton to Campaign For Me
— Ace

Hillary seems underwhelmed by The One's inspiring and unifying powers of persuasion.

Oh, well. I'm sure she's just an outlier. Has some kind of special immunity.

Everyone else will fall in line.

Obama's promising his great powers will enable him to do incredible things in the future.

The problem is that he presently has some problems those much-vaunted gifts should help him solve, if he has them at all.

We're all still waiting.

Sure, Obama, I'll believe you can completely reverse Iran's 30-year policy of psychopatic America hatred just by chillaxin' with Achmadinejad.

I'll believe that when I see that same Jedi Mind Trick work on Hillary Clinton.

Get to it, Jedi Master. Let's see it work. Here's your first challenge of negotiating with a hostile power.

And don't tell me "I'll try." Let me quote: Try? Try? Do, or do not. There is no "try."

BTM Says It's All About the Benjamins: Yes, alas:

You know you can't get the Clinton's to do anything without a sizable gratuity. Once the Obama campaign coughs up some cash, she'll be stumping for him.

Possibly... but let's face it, Hillary wants The Big Prize, too.

What's more important to her -- retiring her millions in debt or running for President in 2012?

Questions, questions.

Extremely Confused Would-Be Commander-in-Chief Launches "Harshest Attack Yet" on Woman Who's Not Technically Even His Opponent
— Ace

This is the man we want leading America-- a simpleton who becomes irrational and unbalanced when challenged by a woman, and continues falling into the trap of having a debate with McCain's junior officer, rather than his actual opponent for the presidency.

As Allah says, it's rather rich that Obama, who's requrested three-quarters of a billion dollars in earmarks, including for his wife's hospital, which then coincidentally promoted her and gave her a ginormous raise, should be questioning the pork-appetite of a former mayor and governor.

Mayors and governors do not represent the interests of the entire country as Senators do, Obama. A mayor is a local official and a governor a state official. They do not, as Senators, represent both their home constituency and the entire nation at large.

But even setting aside that: Palin's dipped her snout into the trough a whole lot less than Obama, who has requested almost $1 million in earmarks for every day he's been in the Senate.

In the Senate? Well, not in the Senate most of the time. Let's just say he draws a paycheck from the Senate and leave it at that.

I had suggested that Obama would fall into this trap... but I didn't really entirely believe that. I thought he'd lapse into this, but would then be restrained by his coaches and handlers, the people actually running the campaign that supposedly is proof of his competency for the highest executive office.

And yet here we are. Another day, another land war in Asia for the scary-qualified leader whose judgment is unimpeachable.

I'm not knocking Obama for taking on a woman, mind you (although doing so is made especially problematic, given his dismissive treatment of Hillary in the primaries). I consider Palin his equal -- much more than his mere equal, actually, so it's not a question of "Mean Man picking on Poor Little Lady." Palin can take whatever this naive neophyte can dish out.

It's just that... she... is... not... running... for President. But Obama is elevating her to the presidential level. So the race, it seems, consists of two candidates of presidential timber on the Republican side, and one weak, confused jackass on the Democrat side.

And somewhere Joe Biden is talking to an unenthusiastic crowd of three dozen people, half of whom were confused by his constant mentions of "Scranton" and showed up in the erroneous belief that he was Dwight K. Shrute from The Office.

Norman Conquest explains Obama's variation of "The Chicago Way:"

You wanna know how to get McCain? They pull a knife, you pull a hissy fit.

They pull a gun, you call a press conference to tell the media how mean they are.

She attacks your record, you attack her 17-year-old daughter.

She fights back, you hide behind Hillary's skirts.

That's the Chicago way, and that's how you get McCain!

Oh! And Obama's attempt to get Hillary to fight his battles for him hasn't worked out so well. She says, basically, "Yeah, sure, I'll get to it when I get to it."

You know what can arrest Palinmania? Sebiliusmania!

OODA: Several readers and bloggers have noted that McCain is inside Obama's OODA loop (which is, I think, a pilot catchphrase for the decision cycle of Observe-Orient-Decide-Act as elaborated (I think) by 30th level Master Pilot John Boyd).

Here's one mistake Obama's making (among many). Sarah Palin is not, in fact, the most easily assailed member of the ticket. John McCain is. And John McCain is, of course, the more important target.

Now, I don't have access to their internal polling or their strategy. Perhaps they feel absolutely forced to take on Palin. (And if so -- wow. That means their polling is showing she's a deadly threat to them. And that she is not an "Attack Dog," as vice presidential candidates often are, but some mutant form of Super Killer Attack Dog -- an attack dog people actually bother listening to and believe.)

But it is so much easier, it seems to me, to attack John McCain for his weaknesses.

But McCain and Palin are just now outright mindfucking him. He probably is smart enough to know he's doing all the wrong things, but he just has no idea of what else he can possibly do.

And neither, it seems, does his brain-trust of 300 super-talented scary-smart advisers, who will similarly respond with open-mouthed stupidity if, God forbid, he calls upon them for advice in dealing with Vladimir Putin.

JackM's Thoughts: JackM. wrote similar thoughts in an email and suggested I polish it.

Well, Jack, I'll polish it the same way I polish most of my stuff-- not at all. But I do think it's plenty polished enough for a blog post, anyway.

Is Obama displaying the judgment and cool under fire we want in a CinC? I don't think so. more...

Shifting American Opinion is Beating Obama Like He Owes Us Money
— Ace

I had hopes for a change: And after opening a nine point lead on McCain and hitting the crucial 50% mark, the race is now margin-of-error at 47-45, Obama ahead... kinda, except it's MOE.

Behold the power of Palinmania: Allah, the Eeyore of the dextrosphere, is almost nothing but good news. Good reviews of McCain's speech, including from undecideds and moderates, etc.

All day long he's been annoying me by sending me a YouTube of Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & the Waves. Okay, dude, I get it: You're psyched. Stop sending that fucking song. Have some respect.

Gay Gossip Site and Anti-Jew Conspiracy Newsletter The Atlantic Has a Fresh Reason for Pride
— Ace

Gay gossip site and anti-Semitic conspiracy newsletter The Atlantic's most prominent writer, RAWMUSLGLUTES, gets at the truth:

Bill Kristol on Sarah Palin. All he writes about in this piece of propaganda is electoral strategy and the people he hates in the media. In a week, he hasn't said a word about Sarah Palin's foreign policy views. I know she's being safely indoctrinated by Joe Lieberman and AIPAC as we speak, but the fact that Kristol, like the rest of us, has not yet been able to point to a single view of hers on foreign policy in her entire life, is eloquent enough. Aren't we at war? Isn't he supposed to care about national security? Is everything about pursuing power by any means to him?

Sarah Palin? What a giveaway. Couldn't be more obvious if her name were Jewdith.

In addition, though he has been positively wracked by indecision and torn by conflicting impulses on this election, he says the Jew-Robot Palin has finally settled matters for him:

John McCain has demonstrated with this insane decision that he is unfit to be president of the United States. This was an act of near-criminal negligence. If he can behave this recklessly and impulsively with this decision, the idea of allowing him to become president of the United States is only a smidgen less terrifying than thinking of Palin in that position.

Whatever few doubts I may once have still had about this election, they are resolved now.

Obama has to win. The alternative is unthinkable.

I haven't seen this level of dishonesty about being an "undecided voter" since... well, since RAWMUSLGLUTES claimed he was still deciding between Kerry and Bush for months on his blog, when he'd actually told a gay magazine that of course he was committed to electing John Kerry.

P-shop time: Let's ratchet up the pressure on The Atlantic. What I'm looking for is "advertisemnts" for The Atlantic which stress the magazine's new direction as a gay gossip site and anti-Jew conspiracy newsletter. And perhaps with quotes from Andrew Sullivan, which really convince you, the reader, why you need to subscribe to The Atlantic. For its amazing reporting.

I may run some of them in the sidebar. Sidebar width is 155 px, so you know the space you have to work with.

Stay Classy, Gay Gossip and Antisemitic Conspiracy Newsletter The Atlantic Magazine: The below is not a photoshop. It is a real post on RAWMSUSLGLUTES hatesite, screenshotted one minute ago.

Photo1.jpg

The backstory is that Levi Johnston did indeed describe himself as a "fucking redneck" on his MySpace page, at least until he deleted that.

The question: Why is Andrew Sullivan so viciously and singlemindedly determined to attack Sarah Palin's children (and her child's fiance)? I'm sorry -- was it announced that Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston would be serving as Director of the CIA and Secretary of Education, respectively, in a McCain administration?

Does anyone at the gay gossip site and antisemitic conspiracy newsletter The Atlantic object to this at all?

And once again, Obama's wonderful leadership which will unite us all -- Obama stated flatly (disingenuously, but flatly) that the Palin family was "off limits."

If Obama is such a powerful leader who will unite the country, why is that even his most rabid supporters do not respect his public requests?

If Barack Obama cannot even persuade a man who, as Christopher Hitchens observes, actually wants to have his baby, how on earth can he persuade his political opponents? Or foreign enemies, for that matter?

"Sullivan and the Jew-Baiters:" This isn't a one-off thing; this is a continuing pattern with Sullivan. Among his other greatest hits-- warmly welcoming acknowledged Jew-hating readers to his site as he championed the fringe Bircher candidacy of once and future Jew-baiter Ron Paul.

But in a post titled "Sullivan and the Jew-Baiters," even his co-blogger Jeffrey Goldberg (ooh, what a giveaway) expressed his discomfort at Sullivan's increasing comfort with Jew-bating and Jew-baiters:

Andrew and the Jew-Baiters

Andrew purports to have been entertained by the following, from a Jew-baiting blogger:

Eric Cantor. Even more of a nobody than Pawlenty and a nastier piece of work. Congressman and deputy minority whip, Cantor looks like the pricky proprietor of the Jerk Store; essentially an unregistered Israeli lobbyist with a domestic voting record to make Grover Norquist quiver with delight. Would make NRO's Corner happy but have everyone else running for the hills.

Eric Cantor, as readers of this blog know, can be a jackass, and is someone who lies about Barack Obama's (pro-) Israel record. But "unregistered Israeli lobbyist"? This is vile, like Pat Buchanan-vile. Robert Wexler is pro-Israel, too. Is he an unregistered Israeli lobbyist? What about Rahm Emanuel, and Barbara Boxer, and Frank Lautenberg, and Henry Waxman, and Howard Berman? Are they dual-loyalists as well? Or is their tribal-based treason excused because they're Obama supporters? I wish Andrew would go back to bashing the Jew-baiters, rather than reveling in their smears.

Palin Smears Thread
— Ace

A good idea. (I hope.)

In one of the truly epic funny threads here, commenters began parodying the left's increasing comfort with peddling wild theories of Jewish cabals and conspiracies, proposing ever more bizarre and convoluted Jewish schemes to rule the world or just screw up your life for no reason. Some of the better ones are here.

So, since the left is now breaking out its old Treasury of Zionist Conspiracies book and simply inserting "Palins" whenever the book reads "Jews," perhaps we can help them in their hunt by telling them the real conspiracies and scandals the Palins are in on. (Indeed, it may just be time to refresh those gems from the Jewish Conspiracy thread and make them about the Palins.)

One caution (I know, I'm no fun): Given that so many real smears have to do with sex, and are probably kind of hurtful, have caution in this particular area. Even going over the top with such smears and clearly parodizing the left's claims still sounds kinda nasty, and the Palins, I'm sure, don't want to see more of that on the internet. Neither do a lot of readers.

For example: Yeah, one obvious joke is the Aristocrats parody. That being obvious -- the left is virtually constructing real Aristorcrats scenarios and passing them off as truth -- there's no reason to go down that road.

As that whole area of smears has been seriously put forth by the left in a manner that's hard to parody through hyperbole, so it seems kind of tapped anyway.

So, try to keep it funny and obviously silly.

A moose bit my sister once, you know.

Well, not a moose. It was Sarah Palin wearing a fur. She slapped me like a bitch and made me respond to the name "Sandwich."

Even though this tactic's been shown to backfire, the left just can't help themselves.

More on the insanity -- and the Daily Kos Media phenomenon -- at the Weekly Standard. Meanwhile, Eeyore is theorizing that the Daily Kos Media is being inspired not by Kos directly but by the respectable example of -- wait for it -- Andrew Sullivan.
