— Gabriel Malor I'm sure you've heard that Barack Obama is going on the O'Reilly Factor this evening. I don't plan to watch, but if you do, you'll be treated to a double dose of stupidity:
“I think that the surge has succeeded in ways that nobody anticipated,” Obama said while refusing to retract his initial opposition to the surge. “I’ve already said it’s succeeded beyond our wildest dreams.”
Nobody anticipated? Nobody? I thought there was just a few people who seemed pretty certain it was going to be a good strategy. Yeah, now that I think about it, there's one-- 5'11", 'bout 185, wears cowboy boots a lot. Everyone said he was a lame something-or-other. And one fellow, shorter with white hair, kinda shrugs funny (I wonder what that's about). And, of course, 45% of the whole freakin' country thought it'd be good for something.
Barack Obama has the Judgment to LeadTM, though not the judgment to admit when he totally screwed up. Will O'Reilly give him a free pass?
Thanks to geekoutofwater.

— Ace Really?
That sucks, man.
People can be so mean sometimes.
Barack Obama: I Can't Believe Sarah Palin, Who May or May Not Have Given Birth to Trig Palin, Would Stoop So Low to Drag My Family Into This: Awww.
Damn, that's all kinds of awful.
Sometimes I think about all the badness in the world and I just want to cry.

— Ace And guess what?
Turns out the Daily Kos is wrong. Badly wrong. Yet again.
Multiple layers of painstaking editorial Daily Kos diarist fact-checking.
And yet the MSM, which is caught unprepared because the group that usually does their work for them (the DNC and Obama campaign) has been caught flat-footed and utterly by surprised, now turns to someone else to do their work for them, and that someone happens to be the very qualified journalists writing under fake names like "ArcXIX" and "OmegaKat' at the Daily Fucking Kos.
Here's an idea, media: I know it sucks that the DNC and David Axelrod aren't giving you your talking points and story tips at the moment, but... just this once, could you maybe do your own work?
Just for a week or so, until the DNC and David Axelrod regain their composure.
You're the, uh, "professionals" singularly qualified to do this shit, right? Then, um, how can it be that your "research" is coming from Daily Kos bloggers?
I thought you were, you know, better than bloggers or somethin'. Has your position on this changed?
Thanks to Dave from Garfield Ridge.
The Daily Kos
The most trusted source on cable TV. Why not cut out the middleman and go right to the real source?

— Ace Getting his "fact checking" from left-wing anti-war group Votes for Vets:
1) The Palin family violated operational security ("OpSec," he sagely tells us) by revealing the date of Track Palin's deployment to Iraq (September 11th), which is forbidden.
2) The Palin family is lying when they say Track Palin's depolyment date is September 11th, because that's really just the "deployment ceremony;" the actual deployment date is unspecified, at some later time.
Huh? They both revealed Track Palin's deployment date and lied about the deployment date?
By the way: No, he did not say "either 1 or 2." He listed them. 1 and 2. Both points were true, simultaneously.
(He also claimed a third: That Track Palin or the Palin family had leaked the actual location of his deployment to "right wing blogs." Funny, I'm a right wing blogger and I read some right wing blogs and I didn't stumble across that. )

Thanks to MikeM.
Andrew Sullivan just emailed me to say he is gobsmacked with heart-ache over this photoshop.
He says he doesn't know what Sarah Palin's daughter holding Bristol Palin's baby has to do with an election.

— Ace But... they've become positively overwhelming. I used to be able to read half of them.
Today I have, since 4:00 am last night when I stopped blogging, three entire gmail pages of fresh tips.
If you know how big a gmail page is, well, that's a lot. There are fifty per page. (More actually, since big tipsters like CJ will often send 3-10 tips as part of the same email chain.)
Obviously I can't get to them all.
So here's what I propose. My great cobloggers aren't getting most of these tips, and they'd like in on some of the action. And I have way too much action to possibly activate.
So when you send tips, please send them to both me at aceofspadeshq (at the old g-mailish domain) or to whichever specific coblogger you intend them for. The others are at gabriel.malor, laurawtips, drewmtips, gooberintexas (Dave), jackmtips, and slublog, all at those g-mailish domains).
Russ and Purple Avenger-- well, they have emails, but not emails specifically for tips, so I have to find out if it's okay to give those out. UPDATE FROM RUSS - my gmail account is farmerruss. What? You gotta problem with that? I AM from Iowa after all. (don't forget to use two R's in the name).
So. Send them to either me (or whichever blogger you think the tip is most appropriate for) and our general, multiple-user account, morontips (also at that crazy g-mailish domain). We all check that. Or rather, the cobloggers do, I never have the time because my own email box is so overstuffed.
That way, great tips will not get passed over simply because they've become too buried or there are too many of them for one phonetic-spelling-reader to digest them all.

— Dave in Texas I have a pretty easy job here, really.
When it comes to ripping sanctimonious media pimptwats like Roger Simon (not him the other one), I leave that to Slublog, or Ace.
Or really, just about anybody but me.
My job is to remind you to get your football picks in before 5:55pm EDT*. AoSHQI is here, and the others are surely somewhere in the vicinity. Click on some stuff, you'll find it.
Tonight's game is the Giants vs. the Skins. I picked the Giants. There. Just do what I do and you'll be fine.
* I think I'm supposed to empty the trash and clean out the fridge every other Friday too - but I'm not sure, I lost my notes.

— DrewM This was supposed to be played last night at the convention but Rudy ran long (and I think was worth it).
Speaking of Rudy's speech, it was an ass kicking of historic proportions. If he wasn't followed by Palin, it's all we would be talking about. In case you missed it last night, do yourself a favor and take a look.

— Ace From FoxNews.
Obama, I believe, drew 40 million something. Correction: Actually, it was 38.3 million.
Hey-- kind of like 42% of independents think he's got better experience than Palin, and 37% think Palin has better experience than him.
He's beating her!

Oh wait, the article does state which party he belongs to -- it calls him "Detroit Mayor" several times.
So there you go. He belongs to the Detroit Party.
Fortunately for the Detroit Party, experts predict the Kwame Kilpatrick scandal will not have any impact outside of the city he is mayor of (which coincidentally happens to be Detroit).
(I see now I'm quite late to this. Oh well. It's a great picture.)
