Update: Sources say guard has died
— DrewM

Update [Slublog] - Sources are telling WJLA-TV news that the guard who was shot has died.
Above the story update:
MSNBC is reporting that name of susupect is James Von Brunn, a white supremacist, born 1920. There is no official confirmation of this yet.
FNC confirms identity, says there are unconfirmed reports he was shot in the head. They say he might be in his 60s and they are looking at his website and say it's "clearly anti-Semitic".
FNC says according to the bio on the website he's a WWII vet.
Here's the bio from the Google cache of his website (I'm not going there) that he presumably wrote for himself.
James W. von Brunn holds a BachSci Journalism degree from a mid-Western university where he was president of SAE and played varsity football.During WWII he served as PT-Boat captain, Lt. USNR, receiving a Commendation and four battle stars. For twenty years he was an advertising executive and film-producer in New York City. He is a member of Mensa, the high-IQ society.
In 1981 Von Brunn attempted to place the treasonous Federal Reserve Board of Governors under legal, non-violent, citizens arrest. He was tried in a Washington, D.C. Superior Court; convicted by a Negro jury, Jew/Negro attorneys, and sentenced to prison for eleven years by a Jew judge. A Jew/Negro/White Court of Appeals denied his appeal. He served 6.5 years in federal prison. (Read about von Brunn's "Federal Reserve Caper" HERE.) He is now an artist and author and lives on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Here's hoping the security guard he shot recovers fully. As for him? Let's hope they wasted to much effort on him.
D.C. Mayor says security guard is "in grave condition".
UPDATE: A cop just held a curbside press gaggle says it was 'a long gun', not sure if shooter went through metal detector. One security guard wounded, two other guards returned fire and wounded the gunman.
Via Twitter: Jake Tapper says "it's bedlam".
Also via Tapper's Twitter: Shooter is a white male born in 1920 and used a shotgun.
Not sure what to make of that but don't forget it's early and details change. Reports have stated both the guard and the gunman have been taken to a hospital.
Just happened. (Well about an hour ago 12:50 EDT)

— Gabriel Malor And it's getting worse. First with the petty, commentators in Israel are angry at this photograph, released by the White House, which shows the President on the phone with PM Netanyahu:

It is an insult in the Middle East to show the sole of your shoe to someone and the Israelis are seeing the photo in context with Obama's withdrawl of support and threats as a big FU.
Second, and speaking of threats, this is more serious than a shoe insult:
Israel's Channel One TV reported that Netanyahu was told Tuesday by an "American official" in Jerusalem that, "We are going to change the world. Please, don't interfere." The report said Netanyahu's aides interpreted this as a "threat."
The message could not be any clearer: "that's a nice country you got there. It'd be a shame if something were to happen to it."
I don't even have the words to say how shameful Obama's treatment of our allies has been. But this is more horrifying than merely irritating our coalition partners; it goes beyond destroying our special relationship with the UK. Those are bad things, but this is beyond the pale. He is throwing a good people to the wolves. It sickens me.
Some Israelis are now preparing for Obama to make good on his threats. Minister-without-Portfolio Yossi Peled, who is not a far-right fire-breather, has circulated a letter suggesting that Israel be ready to sanction the U.S.
Peled added that faced with an American government with an activist agenda that does not mesh with Israel's, traditional reactions are no longer relevant. He said he expected that Obama would eventually realize that appeasement and dialogue with countries that support terror would not have positive results. But in the interim, the minister suggests reconsidering military and civilian purchases from the US, selling sensitive equipment that the Washington opposes distributing internationally, and allowing other countries that compete with the US to get involved with the peace process and be given a foothold for their military forces and intelligence agencies.
"We must make every effort to maintain our relationship with the US and I respect Obama, but Israel has its own interests and we have to know what our alternatives are," Peled said. "I don't think what I suggest is vengeful. I just think that even a superpower must behave like a partner."
PM Netanyahu has a speech on Sunday, which is being viewed as a response to Obama's message in Cairo. I think his coalition gives him almost no choice but to respond in kind to the President's refusal to negotiate on settlements.

— DrewM Seems people are finally understanding that when you are in a hole stop digging.
Forty-five percent (45%) of Americans say the rest of the new government spending authorized in the $787-billion economic stimulus plan should now be canceled. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 36% disagree and 20% are not sure.According to news reports, only $36 billion of the stimulus plan had been spent as of late May.
Just 20% of adults say the tax cuts included in the stimulus plan should be canceled while 55% disagree. The stimulus plan includes $288 billion in tax cuts.
While there is a wide partisan gap on the question of stimulus spending, there is little partisan disagreement on maintaining the tax cuts.
Wait. Tax cuts are popular as a method to stimulate the economy? If only someone, like say House Republicans, had proposed that sooner. Oh, they did. But Obama won, so, sorry.
I can't imagine why people are having second thoughts. The money is working so well.

This is why Obama and the Democrats are in such a hurry to do so much (health care, cap and trade, immigration, etc), they know people are going to catch on to the fact their shit doesn't work. They need to get it passed before it's too late.
Below the fold...If Geoff's graph is too hard to understand, how about the failure of the so-called "stimulus" in pennies? more...

— DrewM How many years did Obama know this man but you know, not really know him or something?
"Of course I voted for him; he's my son. I'm proud of him," Wright said. "I've got five biological kids. They all make mistakes and bad choices. I haven't stopped loving any of them."..."Them Jews aren't going to let him talk to me. I told my baby daughter, that he'll talk to me in five years when he's a lame duck, or in eight years when he's out of office. ...
"They will not let him to talk to somebody who calls a spade what it is. ... I said from the beginning: He's a politician; I'm a pastor. He's got to do what politicians do."
Yeah because as you can see from Obama's policies in the Mideast he's clearly in the pocket of the Jews.
I'm sure Obama will be super successful in his efforts to reconcile Jews and Muslims around the world because as you can see, he was so effective in making one of his closest friends renounce anti-Semitic beliefs.
I look forward to being denounced by John McCain for this blog post.
UPDATE: Jew not Jews? Several commenters have pointed out that Obama's Chief of Staff and gatekeeper, Rahm Emanuel, is Jewish. I always forget that but it's true. I'm guessing the f-bombs are flying around the West Wing in even greater numbers today.

— Gabriel Malor Remember Nanny Frist's 2006 ban on internet gambling? Supposedly, it was necessary to save us from gambling's "ill effects on society." The Republican platform committee later added support for an online gambling ban to the 2008 GOP platform.
In an apparent crackdown on Internet gambling, federal authorities in New York have frozen or seized bank accounts worth $34 million belonging to 27,000 online poker players, according to representatives for the players and account holders. In an operation that began last week, the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York froze or issued seizure orders for bank accounts in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Arizona held at Wells Fargo, Citibank, Goldwater Bank and Alliance Bank of Arizona.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office had no comment.
The accounts are managed by Allied Systems Inc., and Account Services, which handle cash for popular online poker sites, including Full Tilt Poker, Poker Stars, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker. Though the money belongs to the poker players, it is held for them in accounts managed by the two service companies.
Thanks, nanny-state Republican bastards! Guess who just introduced a bill to legalize (and tax) internet gambling? His name rhymes with Fawney Bwank.

— TrollBuster Genghis has elected to take his semi-decadal day off from his duties here at AoS. So, once again, I have to come up with something that may or may not entertain the late-night trogs in the trenches while a half-dozen chat windows whose fine-print contain some legalese about being over-18 languish unattended.
No, no, don't misunderstand.
I live for this stuff. Really, I love you people. You remind me of family.
Maybe it's the passive-agressive competition for attention. Or perhaps it's the way that you wallow in your own filth. Hmm. That reminds me, I need to visit my folks in the home one of these months. I'm sure they had birthdays sometime in the last year.
Enough with all that, and on with the show.
Tonight's theme? Unspent loads.
Now: Ready on the firing line.
Round One: Have I told you the one about the fisherman and the sidewinder? Well, not exactly a sidewinder, which probably chaffs zombie Darwin to no end, as this was a sure thing otherwise.
Round Two: Nerds set world record for blue-balls.
"We are hoping to set, break and smash Guinness World Records for iconic characters from Daleks to Superheroes. And of course, to continue our epic streak of failure between the sheets."
Round Three: Playing fetch with the pooch? It's all fun and games until someone loses a spleen.
It'd be funny except for the PTSD suffered by the poor dog: more...

— DrewM Supreme Court lifts stay and clears the way for Chrysler sale.
Ending four days of intense, round-the-clock and high-stakes legal maneuvering in the Supreme Court, the Justices on Tuesday evening removed a legal obstacle to sale of the troubled auto industry giant, Chrysler.Insisting that it was denying a postponement “in this case alone,” the two-page order said the challengers had not met their burden of showing that a delay was justified. The order allows a closing of the deal as of next Monday, because it lifts a temporary stay that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg had issued on Monday, apparently to give the Court time to ponder the issue.

— DrewM Fifth Columnist.
"I do feel I'm not guilty," Abdulhakim Muhammad told The Associated Press in a collect call from the Pulaski County jail. "I don't think it was murder, because murder is when a person kills another person without justified reason."..."U.S. soldiers are killing innocent Muslim men and women. We believe that we have to strike back. We believe in eye for an eye. We don't believe in turning the other cheek," he said.
Asked whether he considered the shootings at the recruiting center an act of war, Muhammad said "I didn't know the soldiers personally, but yes, it was an attack of retaliation. And I feel that other attacks, not by me or people I know, but definitely Muslims in this country and others elsewhere, are going to attack for doing those things they did," especially desecrating the Quran.
At least he is honest about it. No wonder Obama and the left don't want to talk about it. They can't spin this as some wannabe big talker who has no connection to Islam. Democrats are doing what they always do when confronted with evil threatening the United States (well at least since JFK)...pretend it doesn't exist.
Give this piece of shit his trial and then kill him.
In case you missed it earlier, here is my post onPrivate William Long's funeral.

— Ace Two hundred million, that is, but everything in the Age of Obama is denominated in billions and trillions.
The Obama administration is in talks with the remote South Pacific island nation of Palau to resettle a group of Chinese Muslims now held at the Guantanamo Bay detention center, The Associated Press has learned....
A federal judge ordered them released, but an appeals court halted the order, and they have been in legal limbo ever since. Thus far no country has agreed to take any of of the 17.
...
Palau, with a population of about 20,000, is an archipelago of eight main islands plus more than 250 islets that is best known for diving and tourism and is located some 500 miles (800 kilometers) east of the Philippines in the Pacific Ocean.
...
Two of the officials said the U.S. was prepared to give Palau up to $200 million in development, budget support and other assistance in return for accepting the Uighurs.
The third official did not deny that a significant amount of money would be involved. But the official denied it would be a direct transfer to the Palau government.
Would not be a direct transfer. Oh, okay, it will be an indirect, disguised payment supposedly for other purposes, like a development grant. That makes so much difference to me. It's critically important to me that you call it something else. Because I'm a friggin' moron.
Wonderful. Everyone wins, right?
Thanks to AHFF Geoff.
