NCAA Now Threatening Florida, Demanding They Allow Men in Womens Sports
— Ace

The NCAA is determined to make women's sports into transexual sports.

The NCAA is "closely” keeping tabs on states including Florida that are moving to ban transgender athletes from playing girls’ sports, warning in a statement Monday that locations that don’t treat all student-athletes with "dignity and respect” could lose out on hosting championship games.

While not mentioning Florida by name, the statement from the NCAA Board of Governors comes just one day before the House will take up a bill clarifying that female sports teams are specifically for "biological” women and girls. State lawmakers were quick to criticize the NCAA’s take on the issue.

"When determining where championships are held, NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy and free of discrimination should be selected,” the NCAA Board of Governors wrote...

The Florida Senate took a planned vote on the measure OFF the agenda, even as the House prepares to vote, proving that corporations do in fact now serve as unelected superlegislatures across the country.

But they're our frenz, so.

Rick Scott (Florida Senator ) says that the NCAA can be replaced.

The NCAA is facing a government prosecution for antitrust. Perhaps it believes, as many corporate monopolies apparently do, that the pro-corporate GOP is already in the bag as far as support, so they need to push the hard-left sexual agenda on the country to bring the Democrats aboard.

Administration of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Recommended to be Temporarily Halted Out of an "Abundance of Caution" as a Few Cases of a Rare Type of Blood Clot Are Seen
— Ace

The good news is that out of  nearly seven million vaccinations with the J&J vaccine, there have been only six cases of this type of blood clotting.

Importantly, this type of blood clotting should NOT be treated with the normal medication -- heparin -- as that might cause it to worsen.

The vaccinations are being paused to make sure that information disseminates into the medical community.

The blood clotting affects women more often than men by a 3:1 ratio, and tends to affect younger women. (For this reason, some people I talk too suspect it might be caused by an interaction with birth control pills.)

If someone has this type of reaction at all, it comes six to 13 days after vaccination, and is accompanied by "severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain, and shortness of breath."

So look for those symptoms, and remember, tell your doctor about the vaccination and the no-heparin rule.

Several states as well as CVS and Walgreens announced they would stop administering the J&J vaccine immediately.

"This is a recommendation, not a mandate," Dr. Peter Marks, the director of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, said on the briefing call, adding Americans should talk to their health care providers about their personal situation.

Marks said at this time it's not clear there's any connection with women taking birth control.

The CDC and the FDA said that they are currently reviewing data involving these six cases -- all of which occurred among women between the ages of 18 and 48 -- where symptoms occurred between six to 13 days after they were vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

"In these cases, a type of blood clot called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) was seen in combination with low levels of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia)," the statement read. "Treatment of this specific type of blood clot is different from the treatment that might typically be administered. Usually, an anticoagulant drug called heparin is used to treat blood clots. In this setting, administration of heparin may be dangerous, and alternative treatments need to be given.

"People who have received the J&J vaccine who develop severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath within three weeks after vaccination should contact their health care provider. Health care providers are asked to report adverse events to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System," the statement said.

"Right now, I'd like to stress these events appear to be extremely rare," Woodcock said. "However, COVID-19 vaccine safety is a top priority for the federal government, and we take all reports of adverse events following vaccination, very seriously."

A reporter named Amanda Golden spoke to someone who has the (presumed) reaction:

NEWS: I spoke with a 29-year old woman in Nashville, TN who is battling a severe reaction after getting the J&J vaccine. She initially had normal symptoms, then about a week later went to the ER for fever, uncontrollable shaking, trouble breathing, bruises & clots in her legs.

"I've been in the hospital for a week, and I was in the ICU until Sunday,” she said. She said she had no pre-existing conditions, and no family history of clotting. "The only thing that is potentially correlated is I was on an estrogen-based birth control,” she shared.

Her prognosis right now is that she has a very low risk of stroke, and is continuing to be monitored. She shared she’s a blood thinner IV drip right now, and so far her labs have been "improving nicely over the last few days.

"I just want to be clear, vaccines are good and they save lives,” she also said, adding she hopes people continue to get vaccinated. She added that she’s eager for other young women to know what the side effects are to look out for, hoping other women seek help sooner.

I don't want to be a Vaccine Flack, but, to keep people from becoming unnecessarily agitated, it's worth remembering that 6.8 million doses have been given and this reaction (if it is a reaction) has only been seen six times.

There's no proof yet that there's a connection between the clotting and the vaccine. When you give 6.8 million doses, you're going to see a lot of people having some sort of medical problem at about the same time as getting the vaccine.

The link between clotting and vaccine might only be one of timing -- and otherwise a coincidence.

Still, be on the lookout for the symptoms, particularly if you're between 18 and 48, and maybe especially if you're on birth control pills.

And no heparin.

Trump issued a statement, which I think is a mistake, using this as an opportunity to praise himself and speculate that this is mostly a move by Pfizer to disqualify a major competitor in a money-generating market.

The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition [CBD]
— Ace Open Blog

Voting against self-interest is a rara avis, so why should we be surprised when people don't act against self-interest? The lovely and romantic and unfortunately naive supposition that the majority of the rank-and-file cops is secretly on our side is just that...a pipe dream. They are on the side of their paychecks, and that means they will do what their government masters tell them to do.

And if those orders include allowing rioters to loot your business...so be it! And if those orders include allowing Antifa to beat your head to a pulp, but arrest you if you draw your weapon?

Eggs...omelets...communism.

Police unions may occasionally make pleasing noises, but their income is derived 100% from municipal coffers, and pleasing the mayors and city councils who control them is more important than those pesky laws and rights that we hold so dear. Add in the insanity of charging cops for perfectly acceptable behavior because of woke politics, and it is perfectly understandable that most cops will do what they are told and not a single thing more. Do the job as defined by the politicians, get the pension, and get the hell out.

No, there is no, "on the other hand..." Law enforcement in the United States is, at best, neutral toward law abiding citizens, and they are absolutely on the side of the rioters. There have been too many examples of this to assume otherwise. Do the cops actually approve of the riots? No, I doubt it, but they certainly approve of a regular paycheck and job security, so why rock the boat?

And this is why I believe that any response from the Right will not be focused on leftist demonstrations and rioting, where there are two independent adversaries (the cops and the rioters) but rather afterward when they go home to mom's basement...

That is not advocacy; that is an obvious analysis of the possibilities. Who in their right minds would go toe-to-toe with both the cops and Antifa in a running street battle? It makes no sense. But lone-wolf attacks on individuals who are identified as participants or supporters of this civil unrest? That's a page out of many revolutions, and it works.

The Morning Report - 4/13/21 [J.J. Sefton]
— Ace Open Blog

Good morning kids. Tuesday and here we are again with yet another "colorful" youth, taking a wistful stroll, eating Skittles on a beautiful spring day, dreaming of one day attending medical school, studying his dog-eared copy of Meitosis and Meiosis for Dummies when his life was cruelly cut short by an evil, filthy, racist, white supremacist, Trump-supporting Hitlerite cop who gunned him down like a dog, just for the fun of it. He leaves behind a grieving family and community of Brooklyn Park, MN that mourned his tragic loss quietly, and peacefully by singing heart-rending choruses of Kumbaya and Blowing in the Wind or maybe starting fires, smashing windows, looting and sacking the business district, but mostly starting fires, smashing windows, looting and sacking the business district. But please, don't call it a riot. Heaven forfend.

Did I get that right? I have to tell you, I am sick to fucking death of writing about yet another wasted life courtesy of the past 55 years of societal dissolution courtesy of the American Left and every genocidal law, and program that we the taxpayers have funded to the tune of $25 trillion dollars -- and counting since the funding never stops but only increases with each passing administration's (or in this case junta's budget). That is, when we have an actual budget. But I digress. Pardon me for being cruel but in the grand scheme of things, Daunte Wright was cannon fodder. Nothing more and nothing less. While at the end of the day, he and he alone was responsible for what I have to believe was an ongoing series of disastrous choices he made in his life right up to the one he made that ended it, there is no denying that he was a victim: a victim of the American Left. And they could care fuck all so long as they can now use his corpse as yet another pretext and weapon with which to persecute and repress the majority of people in this country.

It's pointless to bring up the fact that instances of fatal shootings of black males as a subset of all encounters with police are statistically rare, or that black males dying as a result of being shot by other black males is orders of magnitude greater, or that virtually all of these incidents occur in areas that have been controlled by Democrats for decades, or that these police officers are trained by and subject to rules written by Democrat law enforcement officials and on and on and on.

Pointless. Because it runs counter to the insane and provably false narrative of America as an illegitimate and irredeemably racist, white supremacist society. The Left runs on victimhood, so if every six months they need to turn a low-life into Ernst Von Rath, then by G-d that's what they'll do. Conveniently, just down the road is the show trial of police officer Derek Chauvin, who contrary to the "evidence" that he murdered sweet and innocent as the day is long George Floyd, even in the kangaroo court setting of Minneapolis looks to have a better than even chance of being acquitted. In fact, it's a fair bet that the Leftist leadership wants Chauvin acquitted as it will underscore and bolster their blood-libel of America and white people as irredeemably racist. Of course, that which is irredeemable cannot be reformed. It can only be destroyed. Whatever the verdict, the Twin Cities will burn as will a number of other Democrat paradises on earth, I'm sure.

Meanwhile, the endgame of this phony white supremacist race war remains repression.

Joe Biden’s Justice Department wants to keep Richard Barnett in jail -- indefinitely.  The Arkansas man, photographed showboating inside House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office on January 6, has been behind bars for more than three months. Barnett occupied Pelosi’s office for six whole minutes; he absconded with a piece of mail and left her a note that read "Nancy, Bigo was here, you Bitch.”

The desk belonged to a Pelosi aide, not the speaker herself. Several reporters and photographers who also happened to be in Pelosi's office at the very same time prompted Barnett to sit at the desk and "act natural" as they took a series of photos...

...Capitol defendants denied bail received some relief last month when a D.C. appellate court denounced the pre-trial detention for the "zip tie guy," Eric Munchel, and his mother, Lisa Eisenhart. (Both finally were released after more than two months in jail.)

The Munchel ruling is affecting other cases as several defendants, including Barnett, now cite the court's decision as justification for release; Judge Howell has made her displeasure with the order well known in court.

As a Minnesota town devolves into chaos and destruction after a police shooting over the weekend with no sign anyone has been arrested, Americans are once again reminded of the two sets of rules for protestors: one group gets cover from the news media, the political class and Joe Biden and the other group is held hostage for low-level offenses with no support whatsoever.

To hell with it all. Let it burn.

Daily Tech News 13 April 2021

Top Story

  • Nvidia announced their new Grace CPU, which they claim offers ten times the performance of x86 servers. (Tom's Hardware)

Couple of problems here, of course.

First, it will be out in 2023.

Second, it's actually slower than last year's AMD CPUs, never mind this year's or next year's or 2023's. The claimed speed increase is for a specific design of server using this chip, compared with a different design of server using a different chip.

This chip does include NVLink, offering very high CPU to GPU bandwidth - far more than a generic PCIe bus. On the other hand, each CPU connects to just one GPU in this design, where a dual-socket AMD server can run ten GPUs at full bandwidth.

The CPU core itself is a standard Armv9 design, and they don't even specify which one.

In short, it's designed for one specific, lucrative field: Training large neural networks. It's not exciting at all as a general-purpose server processor.
