— Ace Sean Trende estimates an 80% chance that the GOP will take the Senate.
The CIA allegedly spied on Congress' viewing of documents.
That leftist Frank Thomas I mentioned earlier marks the passing of Harold Ramis by calling his comedies some sort of crypto-fascist Reaganite propaganda or something.
This is part of the reason I try to put the brakes on going too far with cultural rejectivism. At some point, one just sounds absurd. No one listens to anything someone says once the speaker has been characterized as "just plain ol' silly."
Obama is appearing on every tv outlet he can. Alas, he even showed up to introduce Cosmos, thus immediately politicizing the very thing (science) which the show is attempting to depoliticize.
Obama talked a good game about our shared national commitment to exploring the planets, to fulfilling our deepest dreams as humans. I guess he forgot to mention he's cutting funding for that. Of course, when the government spending is now up to 70% direct wealth transfers -- that is, 70% of its spending is just taking income from one citizen and writing a check to another -- you're just not going to have very much money for those shared national commitments to fulfill our deepest dreams as humans.
Mostly you're just going to be arguing about expanding the "risk corridors" for socialized insurance corporations.
Finally, Nancy Pelosi has a Republican "friend" (or "colleague") who tells her secrets.
I asked a Republican friend why his party remains so opposed to extending the vital lifelines for struggling families and really hungry children. This colleagueÂ’s response was telling in its blunt nature and itÂ’s stunning in its honestly. What he said was to the Republican caucus, these people you are talking about are invisible, and the Republican caucus is indifferent to them. Invisible and indifferent. This is just plain wrong. That is not the leadership the American people deserve and it is up to us to demonstrate clearly how Democrats are different.
@ConArtCritic will be starting his election coverage a little later for the Florida 13th special election between Alex Sink (D) and David Jolly (R). It's viewed as a bellwether, an early indicator of each party's relative strength going into November.
So he'll be on later to cover that, with some new bells and whistles.
Until then, Open Thread.

In 2012, I was dour about the Presidential prospects for the Mittbot, but I had high hopes for several Senate races.
Then? Akin. Mourdock. And a long cascade of smaller disasters. I figure as many as five Senate seats got handed over to Democrats that cycle. All for absolutely no good reason.
I'll believe in the ability of the GOP to avoid snatching defeat from the jaws of victory once that actually stops happening.
Plus, if any of the upstart conservatives actually win any primaries, the wrath of the RINO establishment will once again be a factor. You think Dick Lugar was a pissy little bitch after being primaried out? Ain't seen nuthin yet.

They way I heard it, congressional staffers were worried that documents they wanted would disappear, so they copied documents they were not supposed to copy.
So is it a leak investigation? Congress taking documents they were not supposed to take?
Who can you trust; the democrats, CIA, Obama, or the news media?
To me, it looks like a repeat of the '70's and a demand that the CIA stop 'spying on' anti war protestors which resulted in the Church Commission and stopped the CIA from 'operating' within the US.
Of course we now know that North Vietnam appreciated all the help they were getting from the anti war protestors so it looks like the unamerican activities of the progressives is going to work for them yet again, (McCarthy, the Church Commission, and Feinstein's allegation. Why stop doing it, if it works for you?)

NEW YORK, March 11 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama took on a daunting task on Tuesday: shopping for clothes for his wife and daughters during a brief stop at a Gap store in New York.
Yeah, he was buying women's clothing for his "daughters".

If this were 2007, would they ask George W Bush to intro? Of course not. They're brown-nosing Obama and it's sick.
But then, Obama believes the unscientific hoax of Global Warming so I guess it's appropriate for him to intro a show with evolution in it.

Reason
So for the sake of argument, Vietnam does order a shoot down.
Method of shoot down? Guns or IR missile or SARH missile?
Guns would give time for a Mayday. Same for an IR missile that strikes the engine. A SARH would aim for biggest radar return - the fuselage which would preclude most likely the crew getting a Mayday off.

In the early 80s, when the Cold War was still on, we were camping in Baxter Park in Maine and noticed a lot of helicopters flying around. When I saw a ranger I asked WTF and he told me that a Rooski spy satellite had noticed a small plane going down in the park and they called it in.

The ATC center controlling both flights, one of the controllers on duty decided to take a break leaving one guy covering their area. So one guy was trying to monitor two scopes. And there were contractors in the center who had temporarily knocked out the main phone line.
Meanwhile on both planes TCAS did sound when they were on collision. However the reaction of the two crews to the warning was not good. Their actions ensured a collision would happen.
And as a final grim post script, the father of one of the Russian children killed in the crash later murdered the controller who was on the scopes.

I never found out but I assumed it was true. Baxter is pretty big and wildernessy so I don't know how accurate they could've been to pinpoint it by way of access roads although I assume they'd have had a latitude and longitude estimate. I might be missing something but I don't see an advantage to giving out disinformation on that; plus I'd imagine that somebody knew a plane was missing.
