— Ace Sure, why not.
Is this America?
Just over two weeks ago, an election was held at the Volkswagen plant in my hometown of Chattanooga to determine whether the United Auto Workers would represent the workers there. UAW operatives spent two years inside the plant working to organize it. Initially, the UAW tried to take away the workers' right to vote and force its way in through "card check," an attempt to entrench the union without a democratic election. Fortunately, the company insisted on a secret ballot for its employees. They voted on Feb. 14 not to organize, although in the week leading up to the vote, only the UAW was allowed inside the plant, where the union was given an audience with the workers on company time....On Feb. 14, the workers made their voices heard, with 53% voting against allowing the UAW to represent them. I believe that the workers understood that they were nothing more than dollar signs for the UAW. Obviously, I could not have been happier for the Volkswagen employees, for the community and for Tennessee.
Unfortunately, the UAW has chosen to ignore the employees' decision and has filed objections with the National Labor Relations Board, charging that elected officials like me should not be allowed to make public comments expressing our opinion and sharing information with our constituents. It is telling that the UAW complaint does not mention President Obama's public statement urging the employees to vote for the union.
If the National Labor Relations Board upholds these objections, it would be an unprecedented assault on free speech.
The science is settled. The debate is over. And Eric, I won.

Seriously folks, one of these days real soon, we're going to see some new term come down the pike.
Something like "misvote," or "erroneous election result."
Defined as situations where the result is not as they desire, after which they will lodge complaints as to why the result was not what they deemed good and proper. Thus, to be overturned. Out of fairness.
It's coming.

Not exactly the same thing though, was it?
If the state has a loose recall process, that's one thing. If elections will not be certified if, say, the powers that be decide there was too much influence from somebody/something they deem to have intentionally misled the peeples....
I don't know. I think we're on the precipice of something we haven't quite seen yet. I'm not entirely sure what it will look like, but what we've seen so far are mutterings of tinkering with elections, without them blatantly doing so.

Bob Beckel: Volkswagen has the kind of unionization (in Germany) it does because VW had a long, storied history with Hitler and the Nazis.
Bill Hemmer and Andrea Tantaros: Ah, come on!
Hemmer: “We don’t have enough time.”
Beckel: “See, that’s the problem. That’s the problem. You know, you can’t raise these things because history dictates a lot of things. If you don’t think that Volkswagen had a long, storied history with the Nazis, it’s the reason they got unionized in Germany when the Americans took over.
Tantaros:
“Bob, Volkswagen did not have to invite UAW to the table and have
conversation, and they did, and they left it up to the workers. Leave it
at that.”

I wouldn't exactly recommend it, but it did what I needed it to do, which was not kill me paying for gas.

Problem: no VW member is quoted as such on the record. It was Sen. Corker that said:
"he has talked to VW leaders numerous times and “there’s not a push by the executive leadership or the board toward the UAW.”
“I know for a fact that at the highest levels of VW, they’re aware that if the UAW became involved in the plant, it would be a negative for the future economic growth of our state,” he said."
It's heresay.
UAW is bitching about Corker not VW from what was reported last month. It's a stretch to think he's interfering with the negotiations when he spoke to a newsreporter on the matter.

The Type 181 shared a wider pan with the Type 141 Karmann Ghia. The outer body was similar but with diffrerences beyond things like safety bumpers, different front fenders, and larger taillights. The WWII version hood was flat and spare tire sat on it, Type 181 the hood was recessed so the spare tire did not block the view as much. Internally 12V electrical system, synchro transmission, and a 1600cc motor.

The NLRB will uphold the UAW's objections, free speech be damned. For one thing, the NLRB's board members have been making technically illegal decisions ever since Obama appointed two of them during what he claimed was a Senate recess but wasn't a Senate recess. Thus, a majority on the NLRB board is beholden to Obama; they're his people. The UAW (and other unions) are Obama's biggest cash cows. Those damned Tennessee workers will vote again and they'll keep voting until they get it right and they'll like it.
My late maternal grandfather was a UAW man for 35 years. He loved his union and his job at Chrysler. I think he'd think that push for card check was un-American. He hated communists and communism yet Bob King, current (and soon to retire) UAW President, is a publicly professed Marxist-socialist. That spinning sound you hear is my grandfather in his grave.
Strange, we don't hear the term 'un-American' used much any more, maybe because we've lost sight of who and what we are as a people. Until we get it together, two-bit bullies like Putin will push us all over the playground.

199...My late maternal grandfather was a UAW man for 35 years. He loved his union and his job at Chrysler. I think he'd think that push for card check was un-American. He hated communists and communism yet Bob King, current (and soon to retire) UAW President, is a publicly professed Marxist-socialist. That spinning sound you hear is my grandfather in his grave.
----------
The UAW used to be rather conservative...they supported Nixon, and even held rallies for him and busted some hippies' heads.

210 Chipotle....
There bottom line must be hurting so they have to raise there prices. "Climate Change" is just as good a reason as any, albeit dishonest. I have never ate there before. Its an easy decision but I probably won't know. There is a nice Mexican place right up the street from me. Plus, I can cook and I'm pretty good.

I'm enjoying a Brit show called Pramface.
It's about a couple of young kids who are strangers who get pregnant at a very young age, and the consequences of that.
Pramface refers to the exhausted face you see on new parents, but I like to imagine it's a next generation "happy slap". Take a baby buggy to the head while the attacker yells, "Pramface!"

You're doing it backwards. First you sodomize them and then you stare at them. Otherwise, how do you know they got the message?

I'm pretty sure this how it played out in the boardroom:
"We've got to drop employees due to ObamaCare. But we have to figure out how to do it and be able to certify that they weren't let go because of ObamaCare."
"Come up with some cockamamie global warming shit to explain it."

weather events “associated with global climate change” might eventually
affect the availability of some of its ingredients. If availability is
limited, prices will rise — and Chipotle isn’t sure it’s willing to pay.
A buddy of mine has a used-jeans business. He buys them in bulk from multiple sources. On the website he informs shoppers he doesn't wash them to protect the environment. That's a fib. I think Chipotle is fibbing too.

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing.
I wonder what other 'acceptable excuses' companies will come up with to provide cover for their Ocare layoffs...
