Early Podcast Tonight Premature Open Thread
— Ace

We're doing it early tonight, so I'll just put up a quickie.

Apparently people are only going to quote you guys anyway, So.

@comradearthur clips this from Jim Geraghty's Morning Jolt.

And here now this picture of a frog with an umbrella.

frogumbrella.jpg-large

Incidentally, that frog is racist and pays female prostitutes 71 cents for each dollar he pays male prostitutes. So. Sympatico.

54 Most internet scares are over-hyped. This one isn't, but everyone is trying to make it just as useless by jumping ahead of the information. If you're savvy enough to test the servers (remember login servers are not always the same as site servers), then you can do that and then change the password. Unfortunately, ahead of the people with the information are always hundreds of MFM monkeys screaming and flailing their arms.

62 "seems [Chait] is admitting the race card is overdrawn."

There's one cure for the race card nonsense, and that's to routinely force lefties into corners where it's the only defensive option left open to them.

Let them play it and play it and play it.

With the card becoming more and more ridiculous with every invocation.

Protip: when even Jon Stewart and _The Daily Show_ start to make a gag out of the race card coming back declined, it's a good sign. And that has happened!

66 A huge proportion of these intra-left debates concern establishing the boundaries of precisely when and how one liberal can fairly accuse another of racism. When it comes to making such accusations against conservatives, do liberals have any evidentiary standards at all? Reading the liberal objections to my piece, I fail to detect any. Chait shockingly of course he does go on at length at how conservatives need to be sensitive to racial history

68 more Chait A few years ago, Melissa Harris-Perry — in a column ironically accusing Joan Walsh herself of racism — argued that those accused of racism should be considered guilty until proven innocent. “I am baffled by the idea that non-racism would be the presumption and that it is racial bias which must be proved beyond reasonable doubt,” she wrote. “If anything, racial bias, not racial innocence is the better presumption when approaching American political decision-making.” Just how a person so accused could overcome the presumption of racism, Harris-Perry did not explain.

Complete with Swarovski crystals, I might add." I thought her daddy raised her better than that. The GOP (and I daresay, the nation at large) would be much better off with the Horde as its Press Secretaries.

226 Fine addition to society, this "person of interest"....I have to wonder if I was let out of prison in 2012 for trafficking cocaine, then had this happen in December 2013, would I still be driving my SUV into other cars like a missile into a daycare? I really have no idea, but it seems that he should have been back in jail:

"In Seminole County, Corchado has an open case stemming from an arrest on Dec. 3 (2013), when he was charged with careless driving, hit-and-run, leaving the scene of a crash with damage to property, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of cannabis and possession of other controlled substances."

So...if I am arrested with all of the above, after serving 3 years hard time for selling cocaine, I just post bail and carry on? He was up for a docket thing next month. Whatever.

A child is dead tonight for doing nothing but hanging out at daycare. The driver of the Toyota that was pushed into the building by this bastard will never be the same (nor will anyone involved).

I think this may be referring to the original Durango SUV that rear-ended the Toyota into the Kindercare. Think it was found in Winter Park. No one at residence talked to reporters...but neighbors said it was seen a lot recently. From there "someone" drove him to Enterprise in Winter park to rent the Mazda SUV (some reports that it is black...or white! duh...not sure why Enterprise and/or reporters cannot figure it out). Other news reports state there was a sighting at Orlando International, terminal A. Then nothing.

I assume he is still on the run in the Mazda SUV. I also assume he had help getting out of town, or, at least, to the rental car agency or airport.

I don't care if he is legal, a Martian, or a zebra...I just want this bastard behind bars and punished. And, if illegal, well, more to come on that subject as hell hath no fury when I get pissed. And I am pissed that this child died, another is in critical condition, five others serious, and 50 families and employers (as well as the driver of the Toyota) will never be the same due to this bastard.

317 I dig the frog pic, and he certainly has a very spiffy umbrella, but I digress. Let's talk about that reference to women not being paid enough, and discuss why Republicans are lame and end up losing elections. Case in point: it is a well known fact that the suggestion that women make less money than men is perpetuated for the sole purpose of stirring up emotions before an election. What is also known is that this so-called gender pay gap is a bold faced lie, and furthermore, it is common knowledge that it is a bold faced lie. Women do not make less money because of discrimination, as myriad reputable sources overwhelmingly show; they make less money because women often leave the work force to raise children, are concentrated in fields that earn lower incomes than men, tend to hold degrees in fields that are not as lucrative as men, and men, by comparison, hold far more union jobs, which also typically have higher income. Which brings us back to how stupid Republicans are when it comes to messaging. Instead of coming out and citing the FACTS as they are well known, and instead of blasting back at the Democrats and the Obama administration for calling them women-haters, they do basically nothing. Republicans are not making the above listed points, and the Democrats, knowing full well that it is a lie, are effectively using it to stir up populist sentiments about equality and how a war is being waged on women by those racist women-hating Republicans. In essence, the Republicans deserve to lose if they aren't going to wield the well known facts and waylay their opponents before the uneducated and unwitting public that typically gets their news from Colbert and John Steward (because, hey, their funny). Yeah, Republicans are yet again going to snap defeat from the jaws of victory. It's sad to see, but with whimps like this running the Republican party, it's not a surprise.

318 ...and in case there are any Republican party wonks reading this, here is a link that will help you craft a much needed and long coming retaliation for being called bigoted women haters for the past many years...stop standing there like a tree blowing in a gale and do something...it's high time you stopped helping the other guy win... http://www.stanford.edu/group/scspi/_media/pdf/key_issues/gender_research.pdf

319 ...oh and I forgot to add...no, Harry Reid and the Democrats will not pay a price for their lying ad...why? Because the Republicans won't BOTHER to run an ad of their OWN. Why? Who the hell knows! They will not DO anything to FIGHT back, and they will not DO anything to go on the offensive, either. No defense, no offense = game lost.
