Vox Is Going to Make "Eating Your Vegetables" Super-Fun By Mixing Serious Explanatory Journalism With Jus' Bein' Silly Comedy
— Ace

Althouse links a snarky New Yorker hit-job on Ezra Klein's new "explanatory journalism" site Vox.com.

The New Yorker seems unconvinced that Klein will "explain" the news to people who don't follow it, or will make "eating your news vegetables" fun.

I'm posting this because of the below sampling of Vox humor. Apparently in a piece explaining the individual mandate, they get all sorts of Silly!!! and instead explain an "Individual Man-Date."

26 Here's what I've learned in life. People who want to be informed will be. People who don't won't. And many will lie about their desire to be informed. Vox is trying to capitalize on that 3rd group, but they don't realize that, or won't admit it (at least buzzfeed admits its.)

This "explanatory journalism" concept is confusing.  Does Klein maintain that his average reader/viewer is too fucking stupid to understand simply factual reporting?

Or is his reporting so fucking slanted, aka not-reporting, that he has to explain why and how he reaches the ridiculous and unsupportable conclusions that he was always going to reach, no matter what the facts contained in his slanted reporting.

Ergo, if it cools down over 10 years this supports immediate action on climate change.  If it warms up over 10 years this supports immediate action on climate change.

My "explanatory journalism" accomplishes the goal of my originating bias:  WE NEED IMMEDIATE ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE YOU FUCKING RUBES.

Anyone who confidently claims they know how the Founding Fathers would feel about today's political problems is a liar. It's likely that Alexander Hamilton would have some questions about airplanes and African-American presidents before he'd render an opinion on congressional productivity. New York Times Changes Ezra Klein Quote To No Longer Criticize Washington Post

The New York Times media editor Peter Lattman told HuffPost it would have been better if the paper had not changed Klein's quote after publication online.

In an email, Lattman explained why the change was made:"The original quote was accurate, but it was clear to the reporter from the interview that Mr. Klein was referring to daily newspapers in general and was not intending to single out The Post. When Mr. Klein raised this issue after the story was first posted, the reporter agreed and worked with an editor on deadline to adjust the published version."
