CBO Nearly Triples Estimate of Work Hours Lost Due to Obamacare
— andy Say it with me ... UNEXPECTEDLY!
[CBO cited] new estimates that the Affordable Care Act will cause a larger than-expected reduction in working hours - eliminating the equivalent of about 2.3 million workers in 2021 versus a previous estimate of an 800,000 decline.
If only someone could've cut through this manure beforehand, but we had to pass the law to find out what was in it. Or so I'm told. Of course, we all know what was in it ...

Wasn't it either Nancy or Slo Joe that said it'd create--from day of passage--400k or 500k jobs a month?
You know, all those repressed artists suddenly free of the shackles of their daily grind working for someone else merely to keep their health care would suddenly pour forth a torrent of creative works, sparking the ingenuity and entrepreneurship of all America?

Shill: Yeah. It'll be just like electric car technology: a few years ago, it was very expensive, but now it's affordable!
AFAIK electric cars are only as affordable as they are due to government subsidies or automakers selling them at a loss to help their fleet mileage and emissions numbers.
Sadly, Hemmer didn't call him on it.

Look, it's not the the multilingual part that is stupid.
(My initial thoughts)
It's the utter and transparent pandering of a totally discredited lie by a commercial corporation: That we are a better country if we embrace all these tenants of the multicultural leftists.
They, the multicultural leftist** have done their best to destroy the idea that is America, that being an American is the most unique, the highest ideal for any man, and given us that cheap notion that all cultures are equal.
I think that's what bugged me, that the song was supposed to be just as good no matter the language. No. It's a song about America. No more than Himno Nacional Mexicano would make sense in English.
Oh, and just because I don't swoon because a song about America is sung in different languages doesn't make me a racist.
So fuck you leftists.
*Is is just me, or are the leftists losing their damned minds? As they see every single "we won" crash and fail?
**And let us take a moment and be honest here: As usual, they don't believe a word they say. They have one culture, one they wish to force upon everyone: Communism, marxims, socialism, et al.--the grinding boot of the godless state upon all who dare be individuals.

CBOÂ’s estimate that the ACA will reduce employment reflects some of the inherent trade-offs involved in designing such legislation.
Subsidies that help lower income people purchase an expensive product like health insurance must be relatively large to encourage a significant proportion of eligible people to enroll. If those subsidies are phased out with rising income in order to limit their total costs, the phaseout effectively raises peopleÂ’s marginal tax rates (the tax rates applying to their last dollar of income), thus discouraging work.
In addition, if the subsidies are financed at least in part by higher taxes, those taxes will further discourage work or create other economic distortions, depending on how the taxes are designed.
Alternatively, if subsidies are not phased out or eliminated with rising income, then the increase in taxes required to finance the subsidies would be much larger.
No duh.

No. First of all, the GOP doesn't want to get rid of Obamacare. They just want the power to distribute goodies from its slush fund.
Secondly, the MFM and the Dems (BIRM) will make certain 2014 is about the War on Women, free birth control, higher minimum wage and intransigent Republicans.
Thirdly, the GOP will piss of the base by ramming through amnesty.
We'll be lucky to hold on to the seats we have.

No, I do not. I told the manufacturer of my car that very thing in a survey. I already have a keypad entry left over from when my husband was ill and dieing. If I want to let someone in the house when I am not there, I can tell them how to get into it.

No. First of all, the GOP doesn't want to get rid of Obamacare. They just want the power to distribute goodies from its slush fund.
Except that the alternative proposal presented by the GOP calls for the repeal of ACA. I guess that's considered just a head fake.

Let me explain just how evil that it: It is out-and-out theft.
Because, now the only insurance they can get is Medicaid. And to be eligible for Medicaid, an individual can't have more than $2k in the bank ($5k for couples).
If they do, they have to pay more for the Medicaid.
Not content with stealing their savings via hidden inflation using interest-free loans to the banks, they are now forcing them to spend it.

Quotin':
Effects of the Employer Penalty on Labor Supply
In CBO’s judgment, the costs of the penalty eventually will be borne primarily by workers in the form of reductions in wages or other compensation—just as the costs of a payroll tax levied on employers will generally be passed along to employees.
Because the supply of labor is responsive to changes in compensation, the employer penalty will ultimately induce some workers to supply less labor.
Glad someone kept their notes from Econ 101.

BCBS of Illinois, New Mexico, Montana, Oklahoma, and Texas are Not For Profit Member Owned health insurance companies. It is important to remember that the Blue Cross Blue Shield name on a corporation means that it is a member of the BCBS Association and as such has agreed to those principles and operating practices--conceptually, it's like a franchise. It also facilitates getting care from another Blue when traveling, etc.

The lack of trust in the Republican leadership is being vented right now and the default assumption is that the GOP is plotting with the Democrats to do whatever nefarious thing the Democrats want to do - sort of a Republican Igor to the Democrats Dr. Frankenstein. Whether that is true or not has nothing to do with venting the frustrations that go on here everyday in nearly every thread.
This is an observation of mine, not a moral judgment. People here at the HQ are angry and frustrated so they vent. Got to let it run its course.

You underestimate the cupidity of the GOP Establishment. Even now, their masters at the US Chamber of Commerce are demanding that they yank the reins on those damnable Tea Party extremists and get moving with a quickness on immigration reform. Thanks to them, we won't do as well as we could.
True story: my late Stepfather was a Humphrey delegate at the 1968 Chicago Democratic Party convention. Each of the states had an area cordoned off for delegate use, a place where people could grab some coffee or smoke a cigarette or hang out, so all of the Indiana delegates were more or less taking a break when some big Indiana furniture magnate shows up, looking for Indiana Senator Birch Bayh (father of later Governor then Senator Evan Bayh).
The furniture tycoon was a big donor to Democratic candidates and incumbents in Indiana, and he was furious, demanding to see Senator Bayh for one reason or another. His exact words were (according to my Stepfather), "I bought him, I paid for him, and damnit I want to see him right now. Get him here."
That's when my Stepfather saw Birch Bayh, a United States Senator, run into the delegate's break area--not walk, not walk briskly, but run--nearly at a sprint--to curry to the needs--whatever they were--of a major political donor.
My Stepfather switched parties later in life and became a Republican. In hindsight, I should've told him not to bother.

Yep. On the company, Intraweb, we had a presentation about how much profit we make--1%. Compare us to bottled water, candy, soda, and cigarettes, all of which are sold for far greater profits. We also don't deny claims unless there has been major malfeasance, fraud, or a few other narrow legal reasons. It is far cheaper for us to pay a claim than deny it and go to court. We pay claims every day that technically we could reject.

Single Payer: Once it is in and staffed with the appropriate people, they effectively control this population cradle to grave.
Reserves held by health insurance companies: Literally billions and billions of real dollars, not funny money, real money. HICs are required to have liquid reserves that will cover a full one year's maximum payout per subscriber. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears goes into calculating that amount each year in order to account for such variables as flu, pneumonia, etc. It is usually around 1.5 to 2 million per head. So they must maintain billions to cover all the people they insure. If and when they seize and nationalize the HICs, some of that money will stick to the correct grubby little paws.

One almost wonder's if that's accurate.
Create a rules system so complex only congress can navigate it (and by navigate I mean "pass foolish impersonations of laws.")

I guess I should point out that Obaaamacare included a big chunk on "navigators."
Yup.

USSA.
One party.
Think about it.
Right now, we can vote for the Communists or the Socialists.
They are both the same team.
"The transformation of America."
Czar O just forgot to add "...into a Communist nation."

Thank you for your kind assurances. I am much relieved now. I had forgotten all the times the Republicans have had secret meetings with Democrats and surprised us all with massive conservative wins.
Either that or every time the Republicans have secret meetings with Democrats, it produces a through-and-through win for the Democrats.
Do I have another hole in my head I don't know about?

Nope, we as a whole will make lousy serfs--too damned uppity. Import a few million from countries where everyone has been serfs for generations--they come pre-cowed, expect to work until they drop, actually like very cheap food, and so on and so forth.

well sure , they get cheap labor, in the immediate. but next generation immigrants demands are similar to ours.
you know we ALL get 'above our designated stations '

so.

And they started the day after the last election. Everyone of these DC bastards might disagree with each other on certain things, but they all are in agreement that there should be a hierarchical society with them on top. They just want to import a more willing class of subordinates.
