— Gabriel Malor Ayes 33, Nays 29. Four Republicans voting in favor.
Passage in the Assembly is a foregone conclusion. Governor Cuomo lobbied long and hard for a gay marriage law; he'll sign.
I've noted before that it's much, much better to get these laws from the statehouses and not the courthouses. Like all gay marriage laws that have been passed by legislatures, the NY marriage law will contain religious conscience exemptions. The states who had marriage forced on them by the courts didn't have an opportunity to get protections for churches and religious organizations.
Gay Trivia:
Although five other states currently have gay marriage laws, the New York marriage law will double the number of Americans living in places that have legalized gay marriages.
The New York senate is the first Republican-controlled legislative body to pass a marriage equality bill.

— Ace Amazing.
Allah:
You know, in a way, I admire their shamelessness here. The NYT editorial board isnÂ’t stupid; surely they know how preposterous it is for them to be taking a line this hawkish (especially on a war as compromised as this one is) after the past eight years. But darn if they didnÂ’t do it to help Obama out. No pretense of consistency or neutral principles, just raw partisanship. ThereÂ’s honesty in that, as hackish as it is.

ABCNews: Islamic War Converts Planned Islamist Terror Strike
— Ace They're all corrupt, they're all liberal, they're all biased, and they're all dishonest.
However -- that is not to say there are not distinctions between them.
Some outfits engage in bias. Others, like the New York Times, now engage in Orwellian disinformation.
The New York Times allows you to draw conclusions from the men's names and photos, but will only say these men objected to "American war policies."
Oh, and that their intent was not only to kill but to bring maximum media attention to their killings and hence their objections to "American war policies."
In fairness, one can divine from the NYT that they are almost certainly Islamists intent on Islamist terrorism.
But... um... why is it left to me to guess at this? Why is the New York Times not simply publishing the facts of the matter?
ABCNews, on the other hand, gets to the point with rather more bluntness.
This point brought to you in its entirety by AllahPundit's twitter feed. I just wrote the words. It's his story, his find.
Sorry about all the crap blogging today. Right now I am dealing with both cops & criminals.

— Ace We're running out of options with Pakistan.
The cellphone of Osama bin LadenÂ’s trusted courier, which was recovered in the raid that killed both men in Pakistan last month, contained contacts to a militant group that is a longtime asset of PakistanÂ’s intelligence agency, senior American officials who have been briefed on the findings say.The discovery indicates that Bin Laden used the group, Harakat-ul-Mujahedeen, as part of his support network inside the country, the officials and others said. But it also raised tantalizing questions about whether the group and others like it helped shelter and support Bin Laden on behalf of PakistanÂ’s spy agency, given that it had mentored Harakat and allowed it to operate in Pakistan for at least 20 years, the officials and analysts said.
I don't know what to say. The bigger the problem gets, the more intractable it gets.
Pakistan is a country of some 130 million people, many of them terrorist maniacs, and not only has nukes, but acts as a nuclear Johnny Appleseed throughout the world.

— Ace Justice for hobos, the sweetest justice of all.
He was arrested on an unrelated panhandling charge.
Police became suspicious because his panhandler's sign said "WILL WORK FOR POOP."

— DrewM Two votes today, one to support the operation and one to cut funding. Neither passed.
In something of a surprise, the House on Friday rejected a measure to cut funding for offensive operations by U.S. forces in Libya, pulling back from an effort to confront President Obama over the three month-old conflict. That resolution failed by a vote of 180 to 238. It would not have ended the U.S. mission in Libya, but it would have cut off funding for American forces that are not engaged in support missions within the NATO-led coalition, like aerial refueling, reconnaissance, and planning. That would have meant an end to strikes on Libyan targets by unmanned U.S. drones.
Earlier Friday, the House voted to reject a resolution that would have authorized the military operation in Libya.
That vote failed, 123 to 295, with dozens of Democrats joining Republicans in voting against the resolution.
So with authorization and defunding defeated, all goes on as before.
I'm not sure how much of a surprise it was the defunding resolution vote failed. 80 Republicans voted for it and a handful more voted against it because it was too open ended. Even as poorly conceived and run this war (yes, it's a war) has been, it's just hard to imagine a majority of Republicans cutting off funds for troops in the field.
As far as what's actually happening in Libya? I don't know. The comforting thing is no else seems to either.
One US Congressman says the US Admiral running the Libya war says of course we're trying to kill Gaddafi and oh yeah, when he's gone we may have to send in ground troops.
If US ground troops wind up in Libya (and there's almost no chance NATO would send theirs if we don't pony up some of ours), lawmakers will come to regret giving Obama such a free hand in his little adventure.

— Ace It's clear this is not an "educational" mission but a pure advocacy mission for the Democratic Party.
Says who? Says MMFA founder (or whatever) David Brock, as reported by Douglas Shoen, a Democrat himself. Over breakfast Brock made it clear their IRS status was a fraud:
I had breakfast with Media Matters founder David Brock about 6 months ago to talk about his efforts to strengthen the Democratic party– efforts that I fully support and believe are necessary.Brock was compelling in arguing that he would like to see the Democratic Party develop a different, more inclusive message for the 2012 election, recognizing that the Party in large part, had failed in 2010 because they did not present a positive and affirmative case to the electorate– an argument that I could only agree with.
Brock also made clear that he saw his mission to try to the best of his ability to counteract Republican fundraising efforts, that had frankly exceeded in substance and sophistication, those of the DemocratsÂ…
Brock also made it clear to me that his focus was on the party, and providing and creating a level playing field for it and its advocates, rather than positioning himself as exclusively or even primarily as a media critic.
George Soros is an extremely rich man. He can take the hit.
The fact that he refuses to do so speaks ill of him, as it speaks ill of everyone involved in this fraud on the taxpaying public.
As they agitate for higher taxes, they perpetrate a fraud to avoid taxes themselves.

— Ace Oh no.
Dead at 83. I think he had retired from the spotlight as his mind was breaking down.
A lot of people will be renting The In-Laws. That's what Jonah Goldberg says he'll do.
That's a great movie, of course, but I think Falk's last role was as a mob boss in the grossly underrated Made.
I can't find a clip of him in that, but here's the ever-annoying/amusing Vince Vaughan.
More: Turns out he was a cool guy in real life, too.

— Ace I won't bore you with this too much. But Patterico has published his entire exchange with "Alicia_Pain18@yahoo.com."
This person claims to have been the one who threatened Ginger Lee, too.
Do I buy that? I don't think I do. I think this person is just following the story and knows cutesy references to make. Ginger Lee and Gloria Alred won't respond to my requests for contact.
I did call the cops.

— Ace I don't know exactly what's going on here, but you can read Delta's statement at NRO.
I have to tell you I am not liking this story, given that WND was the "media" operation pushing it.
They're only about two things: 1, OUTRAGE!, and 2, traffic derived from OUTRAGE!
