Counterintuitively, until yesterday, even if Santorum and GingrichÂ’s votes had been combined, it would have swung just a handful of delegates, and not a single winner-take-all state.

WSJ has a piece on diet saboteurs: coworkers who keep trying to fatten you up. The article has a very pre-2008 feel to it; on the other hand, if you're buying the WSJ for its "lifestyle" articles, I suppose you've probably got coworkers.

The front page of the NYTimes, by contrast, has a piece on global warming-caused sea level rise (that has yet to even come close to climate scientists' estimates) leading to coastal flooding. To illustrate this fantasy, the NYTimes found it appropriate to include a photograph of streets flooded during Hurricane Irene.

Both papers, to me, seem to be living in an alternate universe.

Absurdly close in Alabama, and mixed results, but still close, narrowly in favor of Gingrich in Mississippi.

There's also some caucuses in Hawaii and Samoa.

GOPers in both states say the most important factor is who can beat Obama.

If the polls are accurate, we won't know who won until pretty late.

Liberals have been claiming that Derrick Bell was not a radical.

That's awfully funny, given that arch-liberal Michael Tomasky, in a column making fun of the right for making an issue out of this, cannot contest the proposition that Bell was a radical.

Obama undeniably pays homage to Bell, whose views on race and the law in America were undeniably radical.

Undeniably. And yet most liberals aren't on this page, because they are all-in on denying the undeniable.

Bretibart.com's Ben Shapiro explains the theory and its aims.

This criticism mirrored a Marxist attack long voiced in academia: that the Constitution had been a capitalist document incapable of allowing for the redistributionist change necessary to create a more equal world. To create a more equal world, the Constitution and the legal system would have to be endlessly criticized – hence critical theory – and torn down from within.

The Marxist criticism of the system was called critical theory; the racial criticism of the system was therefore called Critical Race Theory.

So, what does CRT believe? In their primer, Critical Race Theory, Richard Delgado (one of the movementÂ’s founders) and Jean Stefancic set out some basic principles:

1. “Racism is ordinary, not aberrational”;
2. “Our system of white-over-color ascendancy serves important purposes, both psychic and material.”

When taken together, these principles have serious ramifications. First, they suggest that legal rules that stand for equal treatment under law – i.e. the 14th Amendment – can remedy “only the most blatant forms of discrimination.” The system is too corrupted, too based on the notion of white supremacy, for equal protection of the laws to ever be a reality. The system must be made unequal in order to compensate for the innate racism of the white majority.

Second, these principles suggest that even measures taken to alleviate unequal protection under the law – for example, the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education – were actually taken for nefarious purposes, to serve white interests. This is exactly what Derrick Bell believed: he said that Brown had only been decided in order to prevent the Soviet Union from using American racial inequality as a public relations baton to wield against the white-majority United States.

Overall:

So hereÂ’s what weÂ’re left with, in simple terms. Racism cannot be ended within the current system; the current system is actually both a byproduct of and a continuing excuse for racism. Minority opinions on the system are more relevant than white opinions, since whites have long enjoyed control of the system, and have an interest in maintaining it.

Shapiro goes on to note how Critical Race Theory informs so much of the Obama Administration, from a Justice Department that refuses to prosecute black racial malefactors, to race-conscious supreme court nominees (a "wise Latina" must, by nature of her race and gender, render better opinions than a white man), and so forth.

Radical? To a majority of the country-- which is the correct test -- it is undeniably radical.

As at least one liberal is capable of admitting.

A couple of seasons ago, Survivor got very Christian-y as one of its better players prayed to God every day, and held prayer sessions with a couple of the other faithful.

Well. Too much of an advertisement for Those Sorts of People. Time to show the world what Republicans are really like.

Enter Colton. Colton Cumbie, actually. A self-declared Republican whose idea of Republicanism boils down to "I don't share."

He's also gay. No, he's not gay. Gay doesn't do it justice. He is the biggest, queeniest, most annoying sissy I've ever seen.

If you went casting for the old-timiest, most demeaning, most offensively retrograde stereotype of gays, you couldn't go wrong with Colton Cumbie.

He sits around camp doing nothing all day. He vamps around like Mae West. He keeps going over to the girl's camp, crying that he has nothing in common with his male tribemates.

He gets into nonsense estrogen-fueled beefs with people over nothing.

But one of the girls gave him a hidden immunity idol, figuring he was both the weakest player and most likely to turn on his tribe (correct on both counts), so he's sitting pretty, as it were, and has license to be even more awful, as he has, at the moment, little fear of being voted off the show.

He got into a snit with some black struggling stand-up comic named Bill. I don't know what the source of this enmity was. I imagine it was all stuff dreamed up by the drama queen Colton, because Bill, at least as presented, was a pretty unobtrusive guy.

"Ghetto trash," Colton said of him. Which was odd, because if you were going to tag Bill with a racial epithet, it would be "actin' white" or "Oreo." I honestly didn't see anything "ghetto" about Bill, except his skin color, which, um. Really shouldn't be an automatic flag for "ghetto trash," you know.

But what Bill was, was poor, given he was struggling doing small stand-up gigs.

And the rich-brat trust-fund kid Colton didn't like that. Which he proclaimed proudly in the tribal council. See, he doesn't associate with the poor. He says so.

"Get a real job," he hissed at Bill, which was odd coming from Colton, who is the laziest guy in the tribe, and is just a student, and who obviously has never done a single day of work in his life. And I don't just mean labor-- obviously he's never labored. But I don't think he's even done a day of light clerical work.

Because Colton has power in the tribe that I am absolutely incapable of explaining the reasons for, he got the tribe to give up its immunity after a challenge -- the men had won, so the girls were supposed to go to tribal -- in order just to vote out Bill, who he'd decided he just didn't like.

This guy calls Colton a triumph for gays on TV, but not for good reasons:

Before I eviscerate Colton as a deplorable human being, first let me say one good thing about him: He defies stereotypes and expectations. Since I cover Glee, I'm used to seeing gay people as noble, heroic, tolerant human beings who are nice to everyone. They're also all incredibly liberal. But Colton is a self-proclaimed Republican who has no problem making fun of people who are poor or little. It's like he watched Queer as Folk as a teenager and assumed Brian Kinney was a virtuous hero. [I have no idea what this means; I assume this character is a hateful, whiny bitch. -- ace]

That kind of hypocrisy is what makes Colton so terrible. He claims to hate people who don't work hard, but he does absolutely nothing. He also claims that he doesn't have discrimination for being gay because he only associates with well-educated people who are tolerant and more enlightened. [As you'll go on to see, he demeans anyone with a pick-up truck as a homobphobic yahoo-- ace.] Yet somehow he thinks it's OK to compare Leif [a dwarf] to a Munchkin and an Oompa Loompa.

Why am I putting this up, nearly a week later? Well, for one, because I just saw it and was appalled.

For another, it's just another example of a fame-whore letting a little too much of his terrible personality shine through.

But for a third thing, this dovetails with the point I was making about Self Esteem. As the guy I just quoted continues:

Clearly Colton has never been told "No." I'm no psychologist, but his entire attitude seems like someone who's been given everything he's ever wanted and who was always told that he's the most special, amazing, talented, handsome boy in the world, and that anyone who doesn't like him is just stupid and worthless.

It's disgusting, and the fact that everyone in the men's tribe is so scared of him is embarrassing. I love watching reality TV villains who are scheming and manipulative and evil, but as much as he wants to be that, Colton isn't. He is incredibly obvious, making sure everyone knows exactly what he's doing, and somehow that strategy is working for him.

Yes, it's horrible. Yes, it's envy that has turned into resentment that has turned into anger and essentially shame. It's pretty simple psycho dynamic which is, "I wish I had that guy's expensive car, good looking wife, big house, whatever it is."

Then the next feeling is shame. Because I... I can't do it. I'm not smart enough. I don't work hard enough.

And then turns to anger. I'm going to throw a rock at that guy's car or his wife's fake boobies or whatever it is I can hit.

And it used to be the other way around.

I mean people who are paying a ton in taxes saying, hey, shut up, I'm paying my fair share. As a matter of fact, you want to actually take that term fair share and really break it down because if all of us are sitting at a dinner table and there's 10 of us and the check is $500 bucks, I'm already paying $350 bucks. That's way more than my fair share.

O'REILLY: I mean, how did [it come to be that almost half the country thinks that rich people were just born rich or had a rich uncle]?

CAROLLA: It's convenient. It's easier. Because if you just said well, it's hard work and it's intestinal fortitude then next time you looked in the mirror you would see a poor guy with a bad work ethic and no intestinal fortitude.

So it's easy to do the daddy's money, it's who you know, rich uncle. It all makes it easier because it lightens the shame burden on them.

Obvious but worth saying.

Part of this is due to the Self-Esteem Culture we live in, propagated by our socialist government schools.

If you don't like your situation, the most effective solution is to change your situation. The only drawback is that this is a hard thing to do, and you'll have setbacks and heart-aches along the way.

But at the end of the day, you'll do it. If you work at it.

Another solution -- not very effective -- is to simply give up and make excuses. This is what the Self Esteem Culture teaches, because one thing that is forbidden to contemplate is that you're flawed in any way.

You are the best and most perfect angle the state-run socialism camps have ever shat out. What's there to fix? Nothing. If you don't like something about your status, why, it's perfectly reasonable to begin a series of rationalizations, excuses, and blame-throwing about it.

The only thing one can truly control in life is oneself and one's reaction to events. Events and situations can't be managed so well.

But that's hard.

What's easy is to just say "the game is rigged" and quit.

The hardest part of changing, as they say, is recognizing the flaw within oneself that needs changing.

But how can you do that when the Self Esteem Culture insists you never question yourself?
