What is the point of announcing polls of groups which are demonstratively not representative of the public?

The electorate in 2012 will be somewhere between 2010's edge for Republicans and 2008's six point (or so) advantage for Democrats. The only question is which it will be closer to.

The electorate will not be precisely what it was in 2008, as far as Democratic skew, and for God's sakes, it will not be even more skewed to the Democrats, as many of these polls implicitly assume.

There is no point discussing these results, the same as there is no point of polling commenters here and then announcing that Romney will win with 943% of the vote (3% Gary Johnson, 3% Ron Paul, 1% write in for Sarah Palin).

Nowadays, The Guardian has become so obsessed with the state of Israel and has come to hate it with such a lopsided, Scandinavian intensity, that it's lost all sense of proportion. Nowadays, The Guardian publishes writers who enagage in anti-semitic slurs; it willingly acts as a propaganda platform for the murdering terrorists of Hamas; and it misrepresents the facts in the Middle East to persuade its readers to support a fascist, religious war of hate against a genuine democracy where Arabs and Jews have equal rights, although you'll never hear about that in The Guardian whose writers prefer to push the lie--the fiction--of the apartheid state.

I forgot to mention it yesterday: on Monday, GOP Senators successfully filibustered one of Obama's judicial nominees, signalling that they would filibuster all nominees from now until the election. Democrats cried foul, but this is a traditional practice, one that they embraced fully to block Bush 43 nominees in 2004 and 2008. Sens. Coburn, Inhofe, and Hatch voted present.

On this topic, the NYTimes editorial on Monday said that it's time to end the filibuster for judicial nominees. It's quite a contrast to a NYTimes editorial in 2005 that said it is "most important" for senators to have a "right of veto" over judicial nominees. I wonder what could have changed since then...

The White House has been strangely reluctant to embrace the DNC's proposed gay marriage support in the 2012 platform. Perhaps there's some dawning realization that not everyone, and particularly not black voters, are happy with the idea.

Quinnipiac has new swing state polls out of Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. After 7AM, the release will be here. It looks like it's going to be Florida, Obama 51-Romney 45; Ohio, Obama 50-Romney 44; and Pennsylvania, Obama 53-Romney 42. Two caveats: wait for the samples' partisan breakdown numbers, and keep in mind that Obama has outspent Romney 2-1, since Romney has to wait until after the convention to spend general election funds.
