MSNBC Host: America is the Worst Country on Earth

When host Melissa Harris-Perry was asked what was risker than being poor in America, this was her answer:

"What is riskier than living poor in America? Seriously! What in the world is riskier than being a poor person in America? I live in a neighborhood where people are shot on my street corner. I live in a neighborhood where people have to figure out how to get their kid into school because maybe it will be a good school and maybe it won't. I am sick of the idea that being wealthy is risky. No! ...Being poor is what is risky!

We have to create a safety net for poor people. And when we won't, because they happen to look different from us, it is the pervasive ugliness.

You have to watch the video to see how insanely idiotic her statement is.

Yes we do absolutely nothing for the poor which is why we're spending ourselves into bankruptcy on entitlements for the poor. The American poor who mostly own TVs, suffer from an obesity problem, and can walk into any hospital at any hour in America for medical care.

Yes we are so much worse than any of these countries:

It's strange to call someone with so little prominence the keynote speaker, but they're claiming that, because they want to appeal to Hispanics.

This affair is dull, drab, and dead. I can't imagine people are watching it.

I also can't believe that people are going to watch Obama on Thursday instead of the Giants-Dallas season kickoff. Updated: The NFL has moved the game to tomorrow night, not Thursday night.

Correction: I had thought for like three weeks that Bill Clinton was speaking the first night of the convention. Apparently not. I guess he'll be speaking tomorrow, against the Giants/Dallas game.

Vicious stuff, illegal, and fascist.

Costa Mesa Councilman Jim Righeimer had finished speaking at a community meeting last Wednesday, and then headed to a pub owned by fellow councilman Gary Monahan. Righeimer drank two sodas and drove home. After arriving home, a Costa Mesa cop showed up at his door and asked him to step outside and take a sobriety test, which he passed.

That a police officer can ask for a sobriety test after you have returned home is troubling enough, but the details of the case are even more astonishing.

A private eye with connections to the law firm Lackie, Dammeier & McGill of Upland, Calif., which represents the Costa Mesa Police Officers Association and many others across the state, called 911 and reported Righeimer as a possible DUI, representing himself as a concerned citizen. The caller said Righeimer stumbled out of the bar even though surveillance cameras show no such thing. “He’s just swerving all over the road,” the caller stated.

The private eye, Chris Lanzillo, a fired Riverside police officer who showed up at RigheimerÂ’s house in a car without license plates, claims he was not on orders to follow Righeimer. The law firm also denied this but promptly removed Lanzillo's name from its Web site.

The Costa Mesa union fired the firm, moments before a city press conference. But this backpedaling is not credible. The law firm brags publicly about its brass-knucked tactics, and its Web site features testimonials from unions thrilled by how its legal work brings city managers to their knees. There's no sense believing anything said by a man whose claims in the police report are not even close to reality. The whole situation screams set up.

The private eye was fired but that's not nearly enough. A firing of a single guy permits the tactic to continue -- you just need a series of Just One Bad Apple to do this, then you can fire them.

Instapundit's right -- fire them all, bring in apples that aren't yet rotten, and launch a RICO probe.

Of course this will have to wait until January 2013.

"Incomplete" is apparently the new "present".

If Obama were to give himself a lower, more accurate grade, the GOP would rightly point out that even he knows what a failure he is, while if he awarded himself another "Solid B+" he'd be mocked and ridiculed by everyone with an IQ above room temperature.

So in his mind, it's better to just dodge with this silly "incomplete" nonsense. It got him this far, didn't it?

Yet Team Obama's shouting OLD! at it like it's an Ace double-post completely ignores the fact that this was a status update. Think of it as "still incomplete".

Eventually the rubber needs to meet the road, and awarding Obama with a social promotion to second grade, even though he didn't pass first grade, is both laughable and completely par for the course for the Democrats and their lack of belief in meritocracy or any type of objective standard of accountability.

The Democrats’ convention platform endorses a slew of organized labor’s wishes and says unions “helped build the greatest middle class the world has ever known.”

The platform, which was released Monday night, is a clear nod to labor unions. It endorses an increase to the minimum wage and strongly supports other labor laws, such as collective bargaining.

The platform goes on to talk about all the things unions have done over the years.

Democrats believe that the right to organize and collectively bargain is a fundamental American value; every American should have a voice on the job and a chance to negotiate for a fair day’s pay after a hard day’s work. We will continue to fight for the right of all workers to organize and join a union. Unions helped build the greatest middle class the world has ever known. Their work resulted in the 40-hour workweek and weekends, paid leave and pensions, the minimum wage and health insurance, and Social Security and Medicare – the cornerstones of middle class security.

Not included in that list? Actually creating a single damn job.

Here's what the platform says about small business.

Small businesses employ half of all working Americans, and, over the last two decades, have created two out of three net new jobs. Democrats believe that small businesses are the engine of job growth in America. President Obama signed 18 small-business tax cuts to encourage with a tax credit to help pay for the cost of coverage. In 2014, the tax credit will grow and small businesses will be able to pool their purchasing power together to get affordable coverage.

We recognize the importance of small business to women, people of color, tribes, and rural America and will work to help nurture entrepreneurship.

President Obama and the Democratic Party are committed to continue cutting red tape for small businesses, helping them sell their goods around the world and access the capital they need to grow. This includes tax cuts for small businesses that make new investments, hire more workers, or increase wages.

First, can we go without one section talking about sub-sets of Americans? I guess not.

Note that small businesses owners didn't create the greatest middle-class ever, that honor belongs to unions and the government according Democrats.

All the talk of tax cuts and "cutting red tape" is nice and all until you look at their real actions....proposing to raise taxes on many small business owners by allowing the "Bush" tax cuts to expire for people making $250K and up and a little thing known as "ObamaCare" which is a huge tax hike and regulatory mess for many small businesses.

Note also the approach of Democrats to job creation....they'll give you a few hundred bucks in tax credits if you spend tens of thousands of dollars employing a new person. They actually think this is how the world works.

I hate when people say "there's no difference between the parties". That can seem true at times (like when big spending bills come up) but at the grassroots level there's a huge difference. Look at the people the Democrats will trot out...losers demanding more free stuff, people who see themselves as helpless victims who can't get out of bed in the morning without a government program, people who'd rather drag others down than try and climb up themselves and the rich people who pretend to care about them.

Contrast that with the mainly self-made people at the RNC who are proud of what they have created and people who admire them for their accomplishments and strive to be as successful as they are.

That's the real difference between the parties and it's what's going to make this week insufferable to watch.

Cryptic death scene. Very mysterious.

COPS probing the deaths of a couple pulled from a river found a purple sex toy, duct tape, a computer hard drive and cable ties on their hired boat, it emerged yesterday.

Officers also retrieved a blood-stained sheet stuffed into a carrier bag, a laptop, screws, brackets, lengths of cable and two tubes of lubricant gel.

Her body was dumped post-strangulation. He drowned. The speculation is that he committed suicide.

Sigh.

People; when did things start to spiral out of control, with the nookie? When did we become so difficult to please?

Whatever they were up to: it was too much. Too complicated. There's just too much construction-type activity going on here. And also, death. Whatever happened to just doin' it on a boat?

This list makes it sound like they were trying to build some sort of Rube Goldberg sex machine. Let that be a lesson to you filthy animals.

Also Sun reporter, why do I need to know the color of the sex toy? Really? Is this the important detail here?
