Nicholas Oresko of Cresskill [NJ], the nationÂ’s oldest Medal of Honor recipient, died Friday evening, surrounded by veterans and military personnel who had gathered there all week after hearing on social media that he was in the hospital with a broken leg.

Oresko, 96, was a U.S. Army master sergeant during World War II when, although badly wounded, he wiped out two enemy bunkers near Tettingen, Germany, during the Battle of the Bulge.

His MOH citation:

M/Sergeant. Oresko was a platoon leader with Company C, in an attack against strong enemy positions. Deadly automatic fire from the flanks pinned down his unit. Realizing that a machinegun in a nearby bunker must be eliminated, he swiftly worked ahead alone, braving bullets which struck about him, until close enough to throw a grenade into the German position. He rushed the bunker and, with pointblank rifle fire, killed all the hostile occupants who survived the grenade blast. Another machinegun opened up on him, knocking him down and seriously wounding him in the hip. Refusing to withdraw from the battle, he placed himself at the head of his platoon to continue the assault. As withering machinegun and rifle fire swept the area, he struck out alone in advance of his men to a second bunker. With a grenade, he crippled the dug-in machinegun defending this position and then wiped out the troops manning it with his rifle, completing his second self-imposed, 1-man attack. Although weak from loss of blood, he refused to be evacuated until assured the mission was successfully accomplished. Through quick thinking, indomitable courage, and unswerving devotion to the attack in the face of bitter resistance and while wounded, M /Sergeant. Oresko killed 12 Germans, prevented a delay in the assault, and made it possible for Company C to obtain its objective with minimum casualties.

Obama was just warming up with the WWII memorial, now he's upped his game by several orders of magnitude shutting down the ocean.

...Charter guides received a message from the National Park Service this week informing them that they are not permitted to take clients fishing in Florida Bay until the feds get back to work. That means that more than 1,100 square miles of prime fishing is off limits between the southern tip of the mainland to the Keys until further notice.

The closing affects not only fishing guides, but anyone with a license to conduct business in the park, including tour operators and paddling guides — anyone with a Commercial Use Authorization permit, said Dan Kimball, superintendent of Everglades and Dry Tortugas national parks.

Biscayne National Park is also off limits. Enforcement rangers will be on duty...

Well, the national mood does flow from the top. The economy is awful -- in large part due to Obama -- and that creates a lot of tension and even psychotic breaks.

Add to that the bitterly divisive tone in Washington, and the air of Millennialist Religion in the air -- and Obama did sell himself as a Prophet -- and you're going to find that some people crack in this Manichean Moment of All Against All.

Was that kind of totally bullshit? Okay, how about this:

Tropical Storm Karen, as of the 4 PM CDT advisory, is a strong tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph (gusts to 65), and is located about 235 miles south-southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Movement is currently north-northwest at 9 miles per hour, and Karen is expected to bend more to the north-northeast over the next few days.

A tropical storm warning is in effect from Morgan City, LA to the mouth of the Pearl River (that's the MS/LA line, for those not familiar with the intricacies of the Gulf Coast).

Chad Henderson actually disclosed that he was a partisan paid to post "advocacy" things on social media.

So who's the bad guy here? Chad Henderson was not coy about his passionate support of Barack Obama, or his volunteer (???) position with OFA.

And here, he says "Something you should know about me..." and then discloses he's paid to post advocacy stuff.

I'm often labeled "the guy who always talks about politics" and it normally has negative effects lol so I'm here to clear things up: If you were to hang out with me one night and you'll see (sic) I'm not that obsessed with politics at all. Yes, I do post political stuff on here and other social networking sites. But it's for a good reason. For one, I think it's good if people get some insight into the world they live in. Secondly, I work for an organization that pays me quarterly to posts (sic) the political stuff as "advocacy" (so it's kind of my job).

All emphases added. And the (sic)'s, of course.

WTF, MEDIA? Your big ObamaCare Poster Boy, who screamed to the world on social media he had "enrolled" in ObamaCare, actually admits he's paid to post "political stuff" on social media as "advocacy" and it's his fault you got punked?

Maybe next time you should do a little more looking into things than None At All.

Oh wait-- skepticism is the official media position for conservative claims. Progressives are deemed presumptively truthful.

So, day 4 of the shutdown. Government shuts down, nation descends into riots, looting and cannibalism.

Hitting the government's credit card limit.

There is no real risk to the "full faith and credit" of the United States except by hysteria-instigating Democrats who want you to believe that the U.S. is on the verge of default.

Therefore, if President Obama chooses to violate the 14th Amendment's commandment that the validity of public debt shall not be questioned, then that is his choice and his alone because the Treasury, and therefore the President, literally has the money in the bank to uphold this requirement regardless of whether the government's credit card has been maxed out.

I know LIV's probably believe all the Democratic talking points on how Republicans are evil and are holding the country hostage in regard to the debt limit, but history says otherwise. Obama rewrites debt limit history.

Why are border patrol agents being told to stand down when the capitol police are still working without pay? Must be that protection of politicians is more important than our borders.
