That Swiftboat Veterans For Truth Ad
— Ace

...is blistering.

It gets the siren because it actually just might change the trajectory of this campaign:

Before I saw the ad, I figured this was a political loser that could only backfire and help John Kerry. Now I'm not so certain.

John Kerry's credibility as an American leader comes entirely from his four months -- four months, that's right -- in Vietnam. If he garners so much credibility from those four months, don't the men who served above, with, and under him also garner credibility from their own service in Vietnam?

Often much, much longer than a four month stint, too.

The doctor who treated him for his first "Purple Heart" (ahem) wound states, flat-out, that he lied about the injury.

John Kerry has said repeatedly that no one who didn't serve in Vietnam can challenge his commitment to national security. Okay, Johnny-- here are a group of men who did serve. Can they challenge that commitment?

He's also used his Vietnam service as a shield against all other attacks on his character. Do these Vietnam vets not also get the benefit of that shield from the personal attacks on them that will soon be coming?

Or does the Vietnam Shield only apply to Massachusetts liberals?

I don't see how the media can simply avoid these questions in the face of the public testimony of his fellow swiftboat veterans.

Terrorism is George Bush's "fortress." Challenge that successfully, and you defeat him in November.

John Kerry's fortress is the four months he spent in Vietnam before ginning up three fakey Purple Hearts and pleading to be released from duty. Challenge that fortress successfully, and there's no rationale whatsoever compelling the election of John Forbes Kerry.

Hat tip to NRO's The Corner.

More: Apparently I'm not the only one taken aback by the ferocity and the effectiveness of the ad. Instapundit (whom I beat here, but who's keeping track?) agrees with a blogger stating that it's "the most devastating political ad I have ever seen - bar none."

They Have a Site, and They Accept Contributions: Although you all know I am, like my very good friend Andrew Sullivan, still an independent and carefully weighing my choice between John Kerry and George Bush -- I tell ya, I'm on the knife's edge here, so balanced and moderate and free-thinking am I -- I also happen to be a reporter (stop sniggering).

And so I have to report that Swift Boat Veterans for Truth can be contacted here, and that contributions will, they say, be used to buy airings of their ad.

I certainly am not recommending that anyone do any such thing at all. I do not support or oppose either John Kerry or George Bush, my occasional venomous anti-Kerry screeds in the Gay Advocate magazine notwithstanding.

I didn't say it, but you still heard it here first: Russell Wardlow offers:

Hehe. The irony about this is if Kerry does suffer because of Vietnam, it will the ultimate "self-inflicted wound."

Not mine, but damnit, I want this site credited for it anyhow. I was in the area when it was said.

Maximum Exposure Update: I didn't realize it, but Drudge is linking right to the ad with a big banner headline. Drudge is a one-man force when it comes to focusing the country's attention on an event.

Now, if only we can have no other big news to compete with the headline until midday tomorrow...

"Nuanced" or Nitwitted?
— Ace

Following up on Son of Nixon's lead, Soxblog dares to ask: Is John Kerry a dolt?

Where are John Kerry's grades and SAT scores?

We knew Al Gore's and George Bush's grades and SAT scores more than a year before the election last time around. Why is the media embargoing John Kerry's academic indicators?

I have my suspicions. If John Kerry were an A student, or if he'd scored 1500 on the SAT's, I think we'd have heard about it by now. I think we'd be hearing not just about John Kerry's amazing four Cong-killin' months in Vietnam, but about his heroic three hours taking a standardized admissions test.

And Soxblog points out that it was relatively easy, in pre-meritocracy days, for well-connected, well-bred young men to get into Harvard. George Bush got into Harvard's Business School, for example. But Genius John, who is just as blue-blooded as any Bush and in fact went to the same superelite prep school, had to settle for respected-but-not-elite BC Law.

Why?

Where are Kerry's grades and scores? Why is no one apparently even attempting to dig these records up?

Hat tip to Kausfiles.

Planning for Both 9-11 and Madrid Bombings "Suspiciously Timed" to Begin On Clinton's Watch
— Ace

Way Off Bass responds to liberal terrorism-deniers (hey, I like that-- spread the meme) by noting that 3-11 had been planned for four years and 9-11 for five.

So much for "dated intelligence."

The only "dated intelligence" here is the collective liberal mindset of the Democratic Party and its fawning sycophants in the Mainstream Media Liberal Spirit Squad-- their collective intellect seems permanently dated, forever trapped in September 10th, 2001.

Shock: 80% of Journalists at Dem Convo Admit to Favoring Kerry

...while another 15% lied about that in an effort to appear "moderate" and "centrist."

Four More Years of Hell-ohhh
— Ace

This creature becomes more infuriating by the moment:

And later, discussing the war in Iraq (news - web sites), Heinz Kerry subtly questioned Republican President Bush (news - web sites)'s intellect, saying: "It's vital for anyone with intelligence to acknowledge mistakes and change positions -- hello."

Yes, that would seem to be the extraodinarily-annoying late-nineties use of the world "hell-ohhhhh!" to mean "Note the irony and/or obvious goofiness here."

Only an idle-rich billionaire heiress could be so insulated from criticism that she wouldn't have heard that "hell-ohhhhh!" became egregiously annoying six minutes after it was first said.

In related news, Terezzzzza Heinz Kerry has just announced that her pet issues as first lady will be discouraging drug use among teens and encouraging young women to attend college. Her anti-drug slogan will be "Drugs: Don't Go There" and her pro-female-college-attendance slogan will be "Higher Education: You go, girl."

She's also considering a campaign to encourage the use of "Anger Management Puppets" to help people better express their feelings in a useful and non-violent manner. She will, yes, be advising all of America to "Talk to the Hand."

A very annoyed hat-tip to Just One Minute.

I swear, if any of you guys aren't registered for this election, and if you don't already know where your nearest polling-place is, you are silent collaborators in this vile woman's evolution into an American Evita. Hell-ohhhh!

Register. Now.

Malyasia's PM: Muslims Fear Christians are at War With Islam
— Ace

Jaw.

Dropping.

Yes, it seems there's a holy war on. One conducted by militaristic, terrorist Christians against the peaceful, live-and-let-live Muslim world.

Undoubtedly another "world leader" secretly supporting John Kerry. Or maybe not so secretly.

Meanwhile, some of those peaceful Muslims who just want to get along with Christians and Jews and don't understand what all this anger is about just fired a non-Muslim woman from her job for the egregious offense of eating "unclean meat," a.k.a. bacon, during her lunch break.

Did I mention this happened... in America?

Running Down Some Blogs
— Ace

Ambient Irony has an excellent article on Europe's childishly insecure America-hating as well as a a link to a Chomsky-debunking book.

I've got my own Chomsky-debunking book. It's written by Vincent "Vinny" Gambino, and it's called Everything That Guy Just Said Is Bullshit. It's two pages long.

Balloon-Juice catches Filet-O-Fish dishonestly making a charge while conveniently "forgetting" to report the facts that disprove it entirely.

Son of Nixon mentioned this to me the other day, ironically enough: Kerry has a Nixonian "secret plan" to get us out of Saigon, err, Baghdad, by the end of his term.

The Belmont Club has a good post on a point I've tried to make before: that one of the most effective weapons in the terrorists' arsenal is the impulse of liberals to refuse to accept the intrusion of ugly reality into their let-a-smile-be-your-missile-shield fantasy world.

Between the Coasts has a link to the audio of Terezzzzza's broken-English "Dey wan' fourh mohre yeahs of helll." For the love of everything holy, she sounds like the rich-bitch cartoon heavy at the end of every Scooby Doo mystery.

I gotta tell ya: I don't like this woman.

As Josh Marshall would say: I will speak in greater detail about this when I deem it appropriate to do so.

Jeff Goldstein angers me greatly by poaching in my blog-forest. Slapping up Filet-O-Fish now, Jeff? How dare you, you dirty bastard.

Hat-tip on that one to Bill from INDC, wherever "INDC" is. Seriously: what the hell is that?

Florida Cracker reports that, believe it or not, the Kerry campaign is trying to muzzle the "charming, candid, and refreshing" Terezzzzza.

I guess she's just a little too charming, candid, and refreshing for the podunk hillbillies that make up the American voting public. We don't get her witty, European-flavored sense of humor; "dey wanh fourhh morehh yeahs of hellll," while an extraordinary pun on the word "wanh," just flies over our neanderthal-heads.

I'm a little tired of hearing her called "candid." She's "candid" because she's an idle-rich billionaire heiress who has never had any obligations to the public (such as actively running a company) which would require her to show a modicum of useful human tact.

How many idle-rich billionaire heiresses aren't "candid"? It's not so much candor as an insufferable bitchiness borne of plutocratic arrogance.

But I guess the New York Times and other liberal 527 organizations prefer the brevity of "candid."

Trust me-- if any of you had a billion dollars and no more pressing responsibility than your weekly botox injections and lowering yourself to talk with your new-money trust-fund lawyers, you'd find yourself becoming more "candid" each day as well.

I'm also sick of hearing that she can speak four or five languages. Well, maybe. But based on her English, I'm guessing she speaks none of them well.

Did I happen to mention I don't like this woman?

And I thought Arianna Huffington was annoying.

Iowa Thriller

If anyone can help explain to me what John Kerry is doing campaigning with Michael Jackson, I'd appreciate it.

Photo Lineup Update! Say Anything puts Michael Jackson and the "Mystery Campaigner" side-by-side for your examination.

To me, it looks like the same guy. YMMV.

Terror Plans Updated As Recently as Spring
— Ace

Democrats Charge Al Qaeda's Casing of NY Buildings "Suspiciously Timed" to Undercut Their Lunatic Anti-Bush Charges; Demand Answers to Questions, "What did al-Zawahiri know, and when did he know it?"

The liberals are shocked to learn that we actually are at war:

The FBI is monitoring suspected Al Qaeda operatives and members of two allied terror groups in the New York City area, the FBI's New York director said yesterday.

Law enforcement sources also said there are indications that the terrorists who cased financial towers in New York, Newark and Washington may have updated their files as recently as this spring.

Two interrelated points:

1. Democrats are constantly claiming that we have not made ourselves safer thusfar in the war on terror. And yet they obviously believe that Al Qaeda is a phantasmal threat, a phoney fear, ginned up by Bush for political gain. So which is it, guys: Is there a threat or isn't there? If there's not, then you can't claim we're not safer. If there is, you might want to stop claiming that we have nothing to fear but four more years of Bush.

2. Democrats also want us to believe they take terrorism just as seriously as the GOP does, or even more seriously. If they're so serious about the threat of terrorism, why is it that there are prominent Democrats and high-ranking Kerry advisors alleging, off the record, that all of these warnings are false and politically motivated? How can one claim to take a threat "seriously" when Howard Dean is on Hardball alleging there isn't a threat at all, and Kerry's top advisors are feeding conspiracy-theories to the gullible liberal press?

Wouldn't it demonstrate "seriousness about terror" to, you know, actually demonstrate seriousness about terror? The Democrats speak the words that they take this threat seriously, but their body-language, tone, frame of mind, and off-the-record comments display, every single day, that they do not.

We have two choices in November: the 9-11 Party or the 9-10 Party.

Meanwhile, The Belgravia Dispatch notes that the liberal media is doing some "updating" of their own alleged intelligence.

Update: Ever since John Kerry began demanding that the entire Congress be called back for a special session to enact the alleged reforms suggested by the 9-11 panel (btw, the Committees are already back in session, examining the recommendations), I've wondered:

Will John Kerry himself return for this special session?

Aldaynet wonders too, and he's got some good quotes from people who also wonder.

And Alphabet City has a run-down on the truly global crack-down now in full swing, all of which is "suspiciously timed" to disrupt Al Qaeda's operations.

Why No Bounce? Because the Candidate is an Imbecile
— Ace

Son of Nixon recounts John Kerry's numerous flubs and faux pas on the campaign trail.

I enjoyed it when Kerry told a Michigan crowd how enthusiastic he was over Ohio State's football program.

Had Bush done this, it would have been national news.
