Profanity Note (Ace): After weeks of very little cursing, we curse a lot in this one.

I mean, I curse a lot. It wasn't planned or anything.

5 It's weird seeing TV people -- ie real people -- here on the HQ. Ace and the cobs are mostly just invisible, imaginary people in my computer who may, or may not, be actual real people. But Jonah and Perino are on my TV. That's different. That's real. This is like when Stan Lee shows up in the Marvel movies. Stan Lee is an actual real dude. It's confusing in my brain.

8 Oh, I just sent this to the "Ask The Blog" address, but Jill Biden's degree is even more bogus and shitty than he describes: http://tinyurl.com/mger9td She does not have a Ph.D. in education. Such things are possible but, thank heaven, quite rare. For a Ph.D., one is supposed to "create new knowledge" which is what has caused the general decline in the humanities. You can't "create new knowledge" by enjoying Shakespeare a whole lot and reading other peoples' conventional opinions of his work. You can by writing yet another treatise on some aspect of classism, racism, speciesism, etc., etc., etc. Jill Biden has a Doctorate of Education in "Educational Leadership". That's right. And it's pretty much exactly what you think it is if you follow the link. While a Ph.D. generally consists of 5 years of full-time work, culminating in a dissertation, an Ed.D. generally (and specifically in this case, if you follow the link) consists of 3-4 years of part-time work, culminating in...a portfolio. It's a cruel joke to call it a doctorate degree. I'd say it's a glorified Master's, but I can't think of a Master's degree that's even this easy. Maybe a Master's in Education is.

9 Private army of Harry Reid is what is obsessing me right now. BLM is owned by Reid and there is only one more landowner between Reid and outright ownership of 85% of Nevada. How many divisions does BLM have -- especially compared to regular people? The Senator owns his own army.

10 During the podcast, Jonah refers to Truthers as "Fuckwads", a technical term describing people who don't understand the effect massive increases in heat has on steel. See, I learned something technical, and my brother thinks I cannot. I am so eager for Thanksgiving so I can show off my new knowledge.

12 Since I saw some music mentioned I will share what I saw today....there was a pickup in a fender bender next to the stoplight I was at. The license plate said J Jett. On his back window he had a huge picture of Joan Jett right in the center, then in all 4 corners he had pictures of Joan Jett. Also on either side of his big picture of her he had Joan Jett and the Blackhearts written out with little black hearts around it. The driver of this vehicle was a "seasoned citizen" with gray hair. My favorite part was his black jacket with.......wait for it.........Joan Jett written in big letters on the back. Now that's a fan

I've seen that  in a number of different fields, where  nobody really needs more than a Master's degree.  The doctoral degrees  seem to be mostly bogus, and the people who pursue them are mostly  full of it, to the point where they  get their doctoral degrees, apparently just so they can  call themselves doctors.

19 President Obama on Friday signed into law a bill authored by Texas Republican Sen. 48 "Jill Biden has a Doctorate of Education in 'Educational Leadership'. That's right. And it's pretty much exactly what you think it is if you follow the link."

Even the genuine Ph.D programs in edumacation these days are a complete joke.

I read a firsthand account at one point by someone who had infiltrated the program at their local university, trying to find out if things were as bad as they seemed, and finding that the actual situation was even worse than it seemed.

The work required for that doctorate is trifling in amount, and has essentially no rigor whatsoever, beyond dutifully parroting various progressive catch phrases.

54 torquewrench: "The work required for that doctorate is trifling in amount, and has essentially no rigor whatsoever, beyond dutifully parroting various progressive catch phrases." I think this the natural progression - extension, really - of the progressing American educational system. Compare the high school diploma of today to the one from the '50s. College must now fill-in for the educational void left by our faltering and misguided K-12 institutions. Now, it would appear, that Masters and PhDs are needed to fill the void left from acquiring a Bachelors. The lowering of the common denominators in order to ensure that "everyone must have a college degree" has diluted the value of the very thing so "essential" to being considered educated. The insult to injury, of course, is that participants must now accumulate great debt to get a weaker ply of paper AND pay inflated prices for it because it is so heavily subsidized by the government that universities need not restrain fees. The DOOM will continue until morale improves.

55 "BS= bull shot MS= more shot PhD= pile higher deeper" Um, the tyranny of cliche. Look, Jonah would be proud?

When they erect anti Islam, anti Mohammed signs in Dearborn please let me know. http://tinyurl.com/kawckme And what is this nonsense about "Jesus Christ is a myth". Are they seriously suggesting that Jesus Christ didn't ever exist?!. Even an Agnostic non believer in Jesus' resurrection Bart Ehrmann thinks it's ludicrous to suggest Jesus never existed.

66 I listen to a lot of podcasts, and Ace of Spades has moved to the top of my list. Just fantastic stuff. They don't interrupt with live-read commercials, which I like, but the capitalist in me wants them to make some money off it since it's so good. Keep it up. I think the podcast reputation is building--first Dana and now Jonah. Be prepared for some laugh-out-loud moments. I had them while listening at the gym and looked like a moron a few times, especially during the "piss boy" discussion and Ace improving a caller to "The Dr. Jill Show".

73 I listened to the podcast this morning.  Pretty tame, language-wise until after a few minutes in, Goldberg said "sh*t" and then it was like that scene in "The Vikings" when Ernest Borgnine jumped into the wolf pit.

Posted by: mrp at April 18, 2014 03:14 PM (JBggj)

74 I listened to the whole thing.  Since this is, I think, only the second time I've done so, I doubt my advice would be heeded.  But I think it needs to be tightened up--perhaps there should be a theme with each guest, such as discussing his or her new book, a big story they've been a part of, or something to kind of base the episode around.

As it is, I felt myself drifting in and out of listening.  Of course, I do that with the works of Mozart as well, so that probably means you guys are all awesome and stuff.

78 Sorry. First one in month I didn't listen to. Auto download so it got downloaded then deleted. When Goldberg and Podheretz went through their whining about being called RINOs when they acted like, well, RINOs during the Cruzathon, it meant to me they were "self-proclaimed RINOs" and therefore treated as all RINOs should be treated- not at all.
