Israel's New Weapon: Unbearable Noise [John from WuzzaDem]
— Ace

AP:

JERUSALEM (AP) - Israel is considering using an unusual new weapon against Jewish settlers who resist this summer's Gaza Strip evacuation - a device that emits penetrating bursts of sound that leaves targets reeling with dizziness and nausea.

...

The army employed the new device, which it dubbed "The Scream," at a recent violent demonstration by Palestinians and Jewish sympathizers against Israel's West Bank separation barrier.

The Left's Preoccupation With Social Class in America
— Ace

Update - Sorry! I keep forgetting to sign posts. I haven't guest blogged in a while.

Zelda of The Urban Grind
In my view, the American left is very fixated on equality of outcome. In other words, if the numbers of minority or female firemen, teachers or doctors is lower than that of their white male counterparts, it's all about racism, sexism, or the poor not being given a chance.

Never mind that people have different values, goals, skills and interests. If some people are rich, and some poor, that's a BAD thing. Nor do they take into account that people starting out in their careers, fresh out of school make less money than those with more years in the workforce.

Thomas Sowell puts this whole class thing into perspective here and here.

Meanwhile while I'm on the subject of liberals and how they wish to minimize differences in social class, Devvy Kid has an interesting commentary about how this country is gradually becoming a socialist welfare state.

Interesting stuff.

When simply repeating the comments made by the chairman of a political party is enough to make politicians in that party begin talking about vast political conspiracies you know said party is in trouble.

Or in need of new leadership.

Massachusetts is considering issuing glow in the dark pink lettered license plates for sex offenders.

Interesting.

I know the scarlett letter-thing has been tried in various forms before, but I have a better idea:

LET'S KEEP THESE A-HOLES IN JAIL!

Of course, the Mass-holes that run this state, err Commonwealth, would never go for something as novel as that.

Houston Chronicle via (who else?) Drudge:

Potato-Chip Can Found In Place of Woman's Remains

When relatives of Vivian Shulman Lieberman went to visit her final resting place in a Houston mausoleum one year ago today, they discovered that the cedar chest containing her ashes was missing.

In its place, behind the locked, glass door of Lieberman's niche in Congregation Beth Israel's mausoleum, was a can of sour-cream-and-onion potato chips.

Hey, thanks for letting us know what flavor they were. A lesser journalist would have left us hanging.

"This is a first for me," said Robert Fells of the Virginia-based International Cemetery and Funeral Association.

He's obviously new. I'm sure the other ICFA members are calling him today:

"So, your first 'sour-cream-and-onion potato chip switcheroo, eh Rob? Yeah, I remember the first time that happened to me back in '67."

Marcelle Lieberman says she visited the niche that July and her sister visited in fall 2003.

The daughters say they returned to the mausoleum together on June 10, 2004, their father's birthday, and discovered the potato chip can in their mother's niche.

A locksmith opened the niche and Houston police took custody of the can, which still contained potato chips.

That's right, someone wasted perfectly good potato chips. Sour cream and onion potato chips. Bastards.

"It is unknown at this time whether this was an individual episode," [Robert Hilder, attorney for the family] said, "or if that is a snapshot to wider problems."

What kind of "wider problems" is he talking about? What do they expect to find in the other niches - Cheetos? Chex Mix? Honey Roasted Peanuts?

Gotta go, I'm hungry.
