The now-linkable-and-freely-readable Blogometer digs up an older post by Chris Bowers of MyDD:

Using BlogAds traffic ranking, Bowers calculates that among the top 250 trafficked ad-supported blogs, 103 lean left and 147 lean right. While liberal blogs occupy 6 of the top 10 and receive more overall traffic, conservative blogs are more abundant further down the long tail, and because smaller blogs tend to be locally-focused, conservative bloggers may have the edge in local and statewide political influence. Bowers sums up: "It is almost as though Democratic electoral problems with suburbs and exurbs are being repeated in the blogosphere. We dominate the big cities, but are getting whacked outside of them. If we are truly going to build a better blogosphere, progressives must respond to rapidly expanding conservative blog sprawl."

BTW, Chris: Liberal bloggers don't own New York City. Not on my watch.

I suppose the many NY-based writers on NRO's The Corner might have something to say about that too.

Pundit/moron/lunatic Julianne Malveaux:

Semi-regular USA Today columnist Julianne Malveaux said Monday that President Bush is “a terrorist” and that America is “a terrorist nation.”

In an interview that began with Malveaux accusing U.S. troops of “beating” terrorist suspects at Guantanamo Bay, the controversial author and economist told ABC Radio host Sean Hannity: “Terrorism in the United States is as old as we are. You want me to give you a litany of terrorism? You want me to start with what’s happened to the Indian population? You want to go on to what happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1921?”

“C’mon now, Sean,” Malveaux told Hannity. “We are terrorists.”

Asked point-blank if the U.S. was a “terrorist nation,” Malveaux shot back: “Oh, Absolutely.”

And so it goes.

As the old joke about masturbation goes: the other ten percent lie.

Big trouble for TV, and for people who admit to watching TV besides PBS, like me. Yeah, it's fun to skip the commercials -- I've barely seen any commercials in two years -- but obviously commercial advertising is what keeps all that rich juicy programming piping through our cable wires.

They'll have to rely on placing products in TV shows, but that's not enough. That's way to subtle a form of advertising in most cases. Yes, James Bond can move some razors if he announces his preference for Braun or whatever, but who the hell cares what sort of diet cola Detective Munch from Law & Order: SVU drinks? I don't.

They're going to have to go old school. Back to fifties-style advertising.

I think they'll have to start paying the stars of the shows they're advertising on to do direct pitches during commercial breaks, or do mini-skits about, say, Cialis. And hope that people who watch Scrubs will watch John C. McGinley tell you that you really should be eating more Total cereal.

Looks like they were suicide bombers, though the police seem awfully reluctant to say so.

Just because a bomber commits suicide during the act of terrorism doesn't necessarily make him a suicide bomber, right?

As in the 9-11 attacks, where (if I recall correctly) a customs or other security official actually noticed odd behavior by one of the terrorists but didn't say anything because of political correctness...

Earlier reports had quoted a witness on the bus who said he saw an “agitated” olive-skinned man rummaging in a backpack moments before the explosion.

Not only does this bring the horrors of Palestinian-style terrorism right to the heart of the sleeping West, it forces us to confront a question we've sought to avoid.

Had the bombers simply left their backpacks behind, we could continue as we have preferred searching for suspicious objects. But with suicide bombers -- now we have to look for suspicious people, and those people will almost all be, of course, Arab or Persian or Asian Muslims.

The bombers in London seem to have been British subjects, but of Pakistani descent.

How can racial profiling be avoided under these circumstances?

I'm sure our death-before-political-incorrectness leaders will find a way.

Hundreds of sheep followed their leader off a cliff and plummetted to their deaths.

This sentence gets a bit werider as it goes on:

Four hundred sheep fell 15 yards to their deaths in a ravine in Van province near Iran but broke the fall of another 1,100 animals who survived...

It's a metaphor for everyone, because everyone thinks that people that strongly disagree with them are sheep.

Luckily, we're the ones who are right about that.

A few days ago I precognitively bloviated:

Next week, when similar murderers blow up bombs in Iraq, Israel, Indonesia, or Indiana, [what the BBC termed "terrorists" after the bombings will] be "militants" or "bearded scimitar-wielding warrior-poets" again. Trust that.

But it's worse. They've actually edited the word "terrorist" from their website archives:

The BBC has re-edited some of its coverage of the London Underground and bus bombings to avoid labelling the perpetrators as "terrorists", it was disclosed yesterday.

Early reporting of the attacks on the BBC's website spoke of terrorists but the same coverage was changed to describe the attackers simply as "bombers".

The BBC's guidelines state that its credibility is undermined by the "careless use of words which carry emotional or value judgments".

Consequently, "the word 'terrorist' itself can be a barrier rather than an aid to understanding" and its use should be "avoided", the guidelines say.

Rod Liddle, a former editor of the Today programme, has accused the BBC of "institutionalised political correctness" in its coverage of British Muslims.

A BBC spokesman said last night: "The word terrorist is not banned from the BBC."

But of course not. It still applies to the Americans and Israelis.
