New Cosmetics Line Made From Skin of Executed Chinese Convicts
— Ace

What the eff? On what planet did these idiots think this would fly?

If this line actually sells, we'll have the odd situation of people who won't wear the furs of animals smearing the skin cells of murdered* human beings on their faces.

* As it's China, I don't know if I can say they're all lawfully executed. I imagine many are simply inconvenient to the sinofascist state.

Rock Star: INXS Thread
— Ace

Bumped for Elimination show. Avoid spoilers about the results in the first 100 characters of text, because otherwise your comments will be seen by those on the West Coast and Australia who haven't seen the show yet.

Just write "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" before a spoiler comment, please.

I'm continuing to try to attract new readers by pimping shows no one watches. Starting next week, I'll be live-blogging old episodes of Jake and the Fatman on TBS.

Hanson Vs. Huffington at 9PM ET
— Ace

Good grief, two big debates. I knew about both, but I didn't know this would be a double-header.

Thanks to someone for reminding me.

Liveblogging Hitch v. Galloway, Plus Live Thread
— Ace

It's actually beginning quite late... starting about now. Click.

It's organized by Stop the War, and they moderator is some flunky in George Galloway's Support Genocidal Tyrants Committee, so our boy Hitch is in the lions' den.

Well, maybe not lions' den. Saber-toothed peace-pussies' dean, I guess.

Damn... this might interfere with the INXS elimination show.

Sporadic live-blogging below, maybe, after I get myself some smokes and a beer.

"Those Leaflets You Were Handing Out Outside Like An Idiot" Update: Michael Totten has the text of the leaflets Hitch was distributing.

Thanks to AllahPundit.

Correction: Groundskeeper Willie said that Hitch was handing the leaflets out, but it was actually some conservative supporters, including Judith Weiss of the blog Kesher Talks. more...

Bandwidth Costs Big Money: Excitable Andy Makes His Play For The Kos-cash
— Ace

After a very good round-up of Blanco's incompetence and negligence, Goldstein adds a nice little update.

I guess Excitable Andy just wasn't making enough bandwidth-money with his "independent" and "maverick" political views. He needs a base to keep him in bicycle shorts, and he's decided to embrace the hard left.

I can't read the Shrill Shill anymore; the Freak-Out Meter only gets elevated or lowered when Allah decides it should be.

But, since everyone's slagging on my favorite blog-bitch again, I'll just relink some of my best hit-pieces on this Hysterical Hack.

Starting here, I decided to blog as Andrew Sullivan all day (keep scrolling to the next entry, at the top of the page, which will not have a title, so click on the forward arrow). It was emotionally draining. I don't know how Excitable Andy can manage to maintain his hyperemotional state without succumbing to bipolar exhaustion.

Andrew Sullivan-- "I'm Not the Easiest Person to Offend, God Knows." Ohhhh reallllly?

Andrew Sullivan Shrieks About Women Soldiers "Raping" Dirty Filthy Terrorist Detainees. (Skip down to the Content Warning part for the bit about Excitable Andy.)

This guy is further from reality than I ever imagined if he thinks this is a credible charge.

I can just imagine it... a US servicewoman with thousands of horny, in-shape men to choose from. And she sees a scraggly-bearded filthy bit of terror-ass and says, "Ohhh yeah, I gots to haves me a piece of that. Mmm-mmm! With a biscuit!"

But of course the credibility of such a charge is greatly enhanced by the fact that Bush supported the Federal Marriage Amendment.

NYT Edits: Needing Today's Attack To Be The Worst Ever, It Downgrades Bridge-Stampede Tragedy
— Ace

A little bit of verbal legardemain is used for this purpose. See, today's attack resulted in the largest "death-toll" since 2003, while the bridge stampede merely resulted in the biggest "loss of life."

See? One's a death-toll, the other's a loss of life. So today's attack represents the greatest death-toll.

Kinda like its reporting on Bush's poll numbers, where every poll is headlined "Bush Support Drops." If his support rises, the headline is some "deep analysis" of the poll, like "60% of Americans Think Chewbacca is Just a Big Ripoff of Bigfoot."

Mary Landrieu, Punching Bag
— Ace

John From Wuzzadem slaps her around nicely.

To repeat: This woman does not understand the concepts of "before the hurricane" and "after the hurricane."

Someone, S. Weasel I think, made a point I had wanted to make too. It was quite clear that Mary Landrieu was entirely unprepared for this line of questioning about the buses. If she had been prepared, she might have claimed, as Nagin did, that it was hard to get bus drivers to do their jobs in the middle of a hurricane. Sure, that was a dodge too, as I imagine there should be no problem getting them to drive before a hurricane, but at least he had an answer.

Mary Landrieu was flat-footed and shocked by the question. Hence she simply continued to repeat "those buses are clearly flooded out, as you can see from the picture," pretending not to understand Wallace was asking her about using them before they were flooded.

And this just goes to prove media bias. The woman had never been asked the question before by any reporter, anywhere, at any time. If she had been asked about, she might have stumbled the first time, but she'd have had a better answer for Wallace.

So, while David Gregory and the rest of the lefty jagoffs continue to press the Bush Administration with questions, they simply never even think to ask a tough question to any Democratic politician. The "tough questions" they pose are along the lines of, "Do you think it was a mistake to rely upon the incompetent, out-of-touch, and racist Bush Adminstration for help?"

This has its benefits, as has been pointed out before. Conservatives know they're in for a whacking, and they're prepared. Liberals never are, becuase they're so completely coccooned and protected by the liberal media... until that wall of silence is breached.

But let's not kid ourselves; having the major media in your back pocket is a big advantage, and the occasional deer-in-the-headlights moment with a liberal politician doesn't make up for that fact. (Especially since the major media will simply not replay or even report on such embarassing performances.)

Jim Pinkerton makes just that case: the Old Media is wounded, but, like a tiger, it's most dangerous when it's wounded. It's lashing out hard, hoping to take as many of its enemies (i.e., Republicans) with it before it goes.

Pledge of Allegiance Unconstiutional
— Ace

The previous ruling had been tossed out as professional whiner Michael Newdow lacked standing.

Well, he got together with some parents who do have standing and got the same ruling again.

I wonder if Joseph Biden will be asking Judge Roberts about this case? I kinda think he won't, but that's just me.

Correction: It wasn't the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that issued this ruling; it was a federal trial court. They based the decision on the old 9th Circuit ruling. I read quickly and sloppily.

Thanks for the correction.

Make Sure You Were A Light Blue Tie. It Softens the Devil's Horns.
— Ace

Career criminals probably ought to avoid animal/Satanic head tatoos.

I just don't think that sort of thing is going to win over a jury. If you must, go with a discreet pentagram on the small of your back, or maybe a "I Mephistopheles" on your shoulder. You know-- classy stuff like that.
