Chuck Schumer: Hey Republicans, Either Get Going On Amnesty Or Obama's Going To Stop Deporting People.
— DrewM

Yesterday Obama ordered the Department of Homeland Security to come up with some BS cover for him to not enforce immigration laws. Today Chuck Schumer tells Republicans give in because you can't beat a lawless tyrant bent on the destruction of the rule of law.

It's crystal clear where the issue of immigration reform is headed, and Republicans have only two choices to make. They can either help pass comprehensive reform which will greatly reduce the flow of illegal immigrants, grow our economy by bringing in needed workers in high tech and agriculture areas, and provide a hard-earned path to eventual citizenship for the 11 million in the shadows, or they can sit idly by and watch the President greatly curtail deportations while 11 million continue to live in limbo here in America. The choice is clear; a reform bill has the support of liberals, moderates, and conservatives and all we need is the courage of the Republican leadership to make the right and obvious choice.

Even if you're on Team Amnesty are you really willing to be blackmailed by Barack Obama and Chuck Schumer?

Shouldn't McCain, Rubio, Boehner and the rest make a stand for the Constitution and insist they won't support any deals with a President who refuses to recognize any check on what he can do?

Instead of passing meaningless bills, Boehner needs to make it clear there will be a price to pay if Obama continues to flaunt the laws. If the GOP won't stand up for the rule of law, what exactly is their purpose?

Look, this amounts to nothing more than Kabuki theater, allowing racist organizations like la raza to "demand" action, and thus giving Zero cover amid the center-right. 50 The problem is progs have found an exploit in the Constitution.  The design assumed selfishness at a minimum would cause Congress to defend their turf.  But progs only care about The Party and care nothing for the powers of a Constitutional government they have nothing but contempt for.

Since it is not rational to assume a sitting POTUS can't keep 1/3 of the House or Senate he can't be impeached so long as that minimum is Party people.  What that means is a Democrat POTUS is a King in everything but term of office and they will eventually solve that.

Nobody wants to come out and SAY that, especially the Republicans.

Exactly.. ODumbo isn't deporting anybody as it is..

What they did is this:

A lot of the captures at the border are being driven to another town and released there back into Mexico.  They are now counting those "returns" as "deportations".

So, basically as the border patrol gets better at their jobs, Obama looks like he's doing more deporting.. but he's not.

And, even with that, the numbers are down 10% last year.

98 Illegals have lower unemployment rate than blacks? From Bloomberg. What reality? As many as 8 million undocumented immigrants hold jobs in the U.S. In fact, they account for more than 5 percent of the U.S. labor force. Their unemployment rate might even be lower than that of the nation's black citizens. And, stereotypes aside, the undocumented are hardly relegated to agriculture and domestic service. Construction, manufacturing and retail are among their biggest employers, according to the Migration Policy Institute.

Hundreds of Belgians flock to glowing Virgin Mary statue

Yahoo! News: http://tinyurl.com/kqhnftq

Brussels (AFP) - Hundreds of people have been flocking to a house in southern Belgium to catch a glimpse of a small statue of the Virgin Mary which reportedly glows in the dark.

Local media reported that on Wednesday, 500 people visited the house in the normally quiet town of Jalhay to witness what is being referred to as "the mysterious glowing Virgin"...

"The mysterious glowing Virgin."    I don't know why, but I got a kick out of that title.

Personally I suspect it's some kind of bioluminescent fungus, but it would be nice if it were truly miraculous.  Europe could use some religion.

110 The only purpose of the Republican Party is lining the pockets of the jackasses that manage to get elected under its banner.  Literally, there is no difference betweent the jackasses in the Republican Party and those that use the jackass as their party logo.  Boehner isn't going to do anything that might jepordize his potential for a cushy job as a lobbyist after he gets dumped by his district.

Ironically, Instapundit linked a story yesterday that mentioned that Obama deported as many people in one term as Bush did in two.  The difference is apparently being made up in people who came to the country as very young kids, never get citizenship for whatever reason (the guy in the story thought that it had been taken care of when he was in the Army), and then run afoul of the law at some point.

One thing I do know, is that when Chuck Schumer speaks, all members of the Republican Party leap to do his bidding.  His charisma is so commanding that they cannot help themselves.  Why, just earlier this year at his barely uttered statement that "Amnesty is such a nice word, don't you think?" the entire Republican Party - without defections - passed a sweeping amnesty for everything.

I know this is true because I read it here.  Or maybe it was the barbeque just before bedtime.  Either way - it is Chuck Schumer.  None can resist him.

The ratio of bullshit to truth in that statement is obscene.

You don't "reduce the flow of illegal immigrants" by making illegal immigrants legal.  If that worked, we could reduce the number of future bank robberies by granting amnesty to past bank robbers.

We can already bring in needed workers in high tech under the H1-B visa process.

Hispanic illegal immigrants don't work in high tech.  By and large, they do unskilled work that could be done by actual low-skilled Americans.  Also, they use far more in public benefits than they pay for in taxes.  They are a net drain on public resources.

A "hard earned path to citizenship" doesn't include slipping un under the rope.  People who want to earn citizenship should do it by obeying the law and proving that they will be an asset to America, not a burden.

See, that's what I don't get about lib hipsters. They are supposed to be sooooo smart and cynical and discerning, but they completely take Rush's comments at face value, assume he really is an egotistical blowhard and an evil machiavellian. When if you actually listen to him for any period of time, you can tell a lot of the bravado is an act, though his sincerity for conservatism and his love of the country is 100% genuine. Hipsters SHOULD find his act ironically hip, were they more intelligent, and treat Rush like a political Grumpy Cat. But politics uber alles.

Or maybe I am reading Rush completely wrong?

Posted by: Hollowpoint at March 14, 2014 01:32 PM (SY2Kh) -------------------------- It depends on the state. Even in California they can get MORE if they are legal and have no fear of deportation. In Virginia, they'll get a whole lot more. Amnesty will really hurt red states, places that do check IDs carefully and where the fear of deportation is greater. The Dems aren't doing this to get California. They already have CA. They're doing it to get places like Virginia and Georgia.

230 Because government shouldn't be in the business of health insurance. Repealing Obamacare won't change the fact that the federal government very much is in the health insurance business. That's not going to change anytime soon- see Medicare and Medicaid. A replacement for Obamacare could include cost-lowering, free market ideas such as allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines. This is well within the Constitutional authority to regulate Interstate Commerce. Currently many (if not most) states place restrictions on what kinds of insurance can be offered in their state. For instance here in Minnesota only "non-profit" insurance plans are allowed, shutting many insurers out of the market and reducing competition.

That's not replacement.      When anyone talks about "repeal and replace," that is not what they're talking about.      I don't care if they say that IS what they're talking about, because it's not.    When you leave   the "replace" terminology in there it implies that there is something    being removed that must be filled in again.   That is not     what we want.   We want this leviathan removed, and then we want that hole EXCAVATED   so that the     free market can pour in.

Repeal.  Just repeal.      Don't    say   that   the other legislative actions that must take place are     "replacing" Obamacare, because   "replacing"   implies   "taking its place."    No.      Just repeal, then pass    the   necessary   laws and write the regulations to allow the free market insurance industry to operate in a more efficient and cost effective manner.   Take government out of the    situation.

239 New York Magazine ‏@NYMag .@jonathanchait on a new breed of post-ideological stooge: PutinÂ’s American dupes. http://nym.ag/1oU5nuc The Pathetic Lives of PutinÂ’s American Dupes By Jonathan Chait -- A tragically large number of left-wing Westerners in the 20th century deluded themselves about the horrors of Soviet communism. As awful and unforgivable as it was, the process by which they made themselves into dupes was at least explicable: They loved socialism, and one country in the world was implementing socialism, so they persuaded themselves, and for a while, it was working. TodayÂ’s Russia dupes are a smaller, more pathetic lot. Above all they are just plain weirder, because they lack a clear ideological motive for their stoogery. Soviet Russia not only commanded a vast propaganda network, but embodied a doctrine with international appeal (and which had originated outside of Russia). Vladimir PutinÂ’s Russia follows no model except Russian nationalism. To the extent it employs a non-nationalist philosophy, its main idea is that gays have weakened Europe. And yet the dupes still come. The primary hub of Russian propaganda in the West is Russia Today, an English-language Kremlin-funded propaganda outlet. Joe Pompeo reported last fall how RT has actually acquired a devoted following in the West, in part through relentless viral YouTube sharing of its reports. Cohen, of course, appears regularly on RT. (Is RT biased? Well, he says, so is CNN: “IÂ’m highly suspicious about the narrative IÂ’m getting on CNN. It seems to be the flip side of RT.”) ... But the central appeal of RT is to leftists, libertarians, conspiracy theorists, and other marginalized groups. The main thematic work of RT is to paint the West in the worst possible light, as decadent, corrupt, and failing – the Cohen method of defense-by-implication. RTÂ’s deep coverage of the Occupy protests and harsh coverage of American politics and life in general offers a platform to critics who are denied respectful treatment in the U.S. media. They are bound, above all, by a desire to get on television. The demise of communism has left a void in the place where socialist fervor once animated the Soviet dupes. In the absence of any positive motivating force, PutinÂ’s Russia, which has positioned itself as AmericaÂ’s main rival, has sponged up whatever motley collection of outsiders it can find. Russia is not the vessel for their ideological fantasies, but merely a placeholder for their accumulated discontent.

They've been using that "11 million " number for over years, if not decades. I'd be surprised if it's not double that. And I imagine that's by design - the real number would be too scary.

And somehow, as if by magic (and / or corruption), our efforts to prevent this keep getting turned against us. And we're painted as monsters daily for wanting to avoid economic collapse and political repression. Not everyone is going to react to that with a hearty "meh." Cohen is a septuagenarian, old-school leftist who has carried on the mental habits of decades of anti-anti-communism seamlessly into a new career of anti-anti-Putinism. The Cohen method is to pick away at every indictment of the Russian regime without directly associating himself with its various atrocities. Is Putin persecuting gays? Well, Cohen wants us to know that various Ukrainians nationalists dislike gays, too. And also Barack Obama’s claim to snub Sochi because of gay rights is probably not on the level. Is Putin bullying and killing journalists? Eh, says Cohen, “Every time a journalist breaks a leg, they say the Kremlin did it.” Accidents happen.

Many on here will tell you, the GOP's purpose is to get "R's" elected, and that is all we care about.  What the GOP actually does is of no concern to you.  You must blindly vote for the GOP no matter what or else a "D" will win an election.

Don't you understand?  You are focusing entirely on the wrong thing.  All that matters is which political party wins an election. Everything else is completely irrelevant and you are a truecon, psycho, irrational, jerk if you even mention these things.

Carry on now.  Work to get "R's" elected.  That will solve everything.

267 U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents and U.S Attorneys held secret meetings with drug trafficking organizations, especially the Sinaloa cartel, on Mexican soil, revealed Mexico-based newspaper El Universal.

In an effort to obtain information on their rivals, DEA agents and U.S. attorneys met with leaders of Mexican drug trafficking organizations, especially the notoriously violent Sinaloa cartel.

That is the same trafficking organization that received the bulk of the firearms intentionally dispensed to drug cartels in Mexico under ATF’s 2009 “Fast and Furious" operation according to a congressional investigation. ATF is a DOJ component as well.

Posted by: Chris_Balsz at March 14, 2014 02:36 PM (5xmd7) The custodial parents have amongst many incentives, the birthright incentive to sneak in here and have their baby. The "birth right" of the infant child of being an instant American citizen because it showed up in an American hospital is used as a bludgeon to further the Dem/Prog agenda of mass amnesty.(Ripping babies from their parents arms who are being sent back to Mexico, etc, how cruel) Removing that incentive is one step forward toward reducing the illegal population.
